I’ve always been impressed by the fact that 4% of the slaves shipped out of Africa actually made it to the US… and history indicates that the LUCKY slaves were the ones who made it here when compared to the fate of the 96% that ended up elsewhere. But we’re the only one accused of the “original sin.”
-
It’s so laughable. If you read the article, slavery was never even legal in California. They’re literally trying to justify paying reparations for something that never occurred. Slavery was legal from 1836 to 1865 in Texas. Less than 29 years, but the talking heads will tell you that nothing that happened in the centuries before before or in the 157 years since Slavery ended matter… all of this was was “built on the backs of slaves.” It would be funny if they didn’t actually believe their own nonsense

This! We agree. So, since we can’t rely on government to fix the problem, who else can EXCEPT gun owners? Literally every mass shooter got his weapon from a person who originally was legally allowed to possess it, and most of the time the shooter was legally permitted to have it. So, the best way to stem the tide is to make sure that they stop going from the good guys to the bad guys. But you’re going to have to have the cooperation of the good guys to make it work. Kinds like with suppressors.

Lol… if you interpreted a threat in anything I said then you definitely shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun.
-
Okay…. What about our churches and grocery stores? Both of which have been shot up in the last two weeks? What about outdoor concerts and nightclubs? Resource officers aren’t the solution. It’s a good start, but definitely not the fix.

Y’all are all right. Even though gun violence is now the leading cause of death among kids aged 0-19, we don’t need to do a thing. “Not an inch.” [Hidden Content] Not cancer, car accidents, those “home invasions” that Lum keeps pissing his leg over, drug overdoses, drownings, snakebites, getting struck by lightning, choking, or drowning… gun violence. Up 83% in the last decade, but we can’t do a single thing about it as legal gun owners, right? And if you really believe that nothing should be done, you’re gonna get your feelings hurt in the very near future.

You know, I’m tired of beating this old dead horse. I say we just agree to disagree and we’ll take it up in a week to two when it happens again.

I’m the one that realizes my kids weren’t special. You don’t realize that you could have easily been a parent standing over your kids casket unable to process a suicide. Or out in front of your house talking to the news about how junior was never like this and you can’t believe that he’s done this awful thing. You don’t grasp that in today’s world good fortune has about as much to do with your kids’ success than your “skill” as a parent. Stop patting yourself on the back and thank God above for sparing your ungrateful behind what a lot of other parents have gone through… parents who were just as confident as you are. To answer your question (again)… if I buy a good guard dog, say a Rottweiler/Pit mix and he chews my kid’s face off… it’s not the dog’s fault, right?
-
I guess you forgot about the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004. Last time I checked, the NRA is bankrupt and the next ban won’t have a 10 year expiration. Hide and watch.

You sound like Ramos’s mom.

Kinda hard to do with a cap and ball revolver.

There’s a little difference between a car and an AR. BUT… if someone comes into a motorcycle dealer and says “I’d like to buy a motorcycle. I’ve always wanted one. How about that ZX14?” You’re probably gonna get sued if you sell it to him knowing that he’s way too inexperienced for a rig like that and he kills himself on it. Gun dealers and manufacturers have enjoyed immunity for selling guns that ended up being used criminally, but I’ve got a feeling that era is coming to a close in light of the settlement with the Sandy Hook parents. I made a similar argument about a bartender over serving and was told by TVC that the difference is that it’s illegal to sell to someone who’s inebriated. The easy work around is to pass a law that it’s illegal to sell to a mass shooter, right? i believe that there is/was a window for gun rights advocates to clean up their own house but that window is closing. Gun nuts are literally yelling “don’t blame the fentanyl… it’s not the drug’s fault so many people are overdosing.”
-
The same way you indict a drug dealer for murder who sells smack to a kid that overdoses.

You keep missing exactly what I’m saying…but you’re agreeing partially without even realizing it. New gun laws aren’t the answer. Gun owners, dealers, and lobbyists need to take the lead in policing themselves or whatever you want to call it. That’s what I’ve been trying to say all along. Lock up your guns. Yes, your little is Johnny is no different than Ramos…. I don’t care if you have taught him all about firearm safety. Don’t sell your personal guns to anyone you don’t already trust with your life. Dealers and manufacturers need to be responsible. The problem is that whenever you try to talk common sense with a gun nut, all he can say is some regurgitated mess about the second amendment and those darned democrats. This weekend we’re remembering those brave service men/women that gave their lives protecting our freedom. We should also be remembering all of the kids who’ve died (and will continue to die) so we can keep sticking our head in the sand and pretending that this isn’t a gun issue. The liberals all argue that we don’t have a drug problem in America… we have an addiction/mental health problem. In fact, drugs should be readily available to anyone that wants them. You know, even open stores where you can buy them without an ID. And we all agree that those politicians are stupid and cause the issues that we have in major cities… homelessness, crime, etc. What happens if you mix up that narrative a little bit? The gun guys all argue that we don’t have a gun problem in America… we have an addiction/mental health problem. In fact, guns should be readily available to anyone that wants them. You know, even open stores where you can buy them without even registering them. It sounds trite, but guns ARE a huge part of the problem. Could this have happened with one man and a musket? One man with a sword? 21 people murdered with a pocketknife? The fact that it’s so easy for a whacko to get his hands on a weapon that is capable of doing this much damage should cause concern for even the most die-hard gun enthusiast.

Beto’s stunt will energize his base. I think it rings hollow with the moderates and they’re the only ones who matter. If Beto came up with a solid proposal or two (not “we’re coming after your ARs”) Abbott would be in trouble. Wait… I thought Beto was Biden’s Gun Czar? He needs to look in the mirror 🤣😂🤣

That’s kinda my deal with campus cops. Typically they’re guys who are just hanging around waiting for their pension. The ISD cop there in Florida wouldn’t engage and now it’s looking like the campus police chief there in Uvalde was in charge of the operation and had the boys waiting for tactical units. Don’t get me wrong, these guys might deter some of the events by being there, but those aren’t quantifiable. I think it’s becoming obvious that campus cops are useless when one of these actually kicks off. Don’t even get me started on what Ms Britney is gonna do if she’s the armed teacher when the poo hits the fan.

I think this is the point that I keep coming back to… The gun rights people refuse to take any ownership of the problem, but it’s getting to the point where reasonable people have had enough and will find themselves siding with the lefties. Instead of being a LEO, imagine yourself as a gun dealer. Do you sell to this kid? He comes into your shop and wants two ARs and a thousand rounds. Of course you do, because somebody’s got to feed the bulldog. Or if you’re capable of manufacturing bumpstocks, do you? I mean, they obviously serve no useful purpose except indiscriminate fire. But you build them anyways, because “freedom.” At some point the gun rights guys steadfast refusal to do ANYTHING to combat the wave of these shootings has become a huge problem. I’ve asked a dozen times “what can be done” and the answer from the people who actually own guns is always “well, first off, I’m not doing anything.” And for the people who think arming teachers is the answer, how well would a 4th Reading teacher with a pink .380 have done against this kid?
-
How do you feel about criminally charging gun dealers after they sell to a mass shooter? It’s no different than charging a bartender who overserves. I’ve also mentioned outlawing bumpstocks. I’ve mentioned criminally charging parents whose kids commit these crimes.
-
I think I’ve give four suggestions.
-
To add to that thought, any time someone says “you should be responsible if your kid does this… lock up your guns” half a dozen idiots chime in “my children know how to use firearms and wound NEVER do such a thing!” Guess what, Stupid? That’s the exact same thing that every parent of a mass killer said right up until the point at which Lil’ Johnny stormed the library with his parents’ rifle. I’ve got a friend who has a kid with Down’s syndrome. She still believes that this kid (gonna be a sophomore) will be able to drive one day. She won’t…. But her mama can’t admit it. Just like this mom in Uvalde can’t understand that her sweet boy did all of this.
-
“Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean that nobody is out to get me.” Just because the left wants to disarm us doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do a single thing to stop that wave of mass shootings. Anybody who screams “not an inch is just as stupid as Beto saying that he’s coming for our guns. You’re both fools.
-
Just because YOU keep saying that it’s not a gun issue doesn’t mean that it’s not a gun issue.
-
Despite the fact that this is a hotly debated political issue (gun rights vs. gun control), there comes a point in which we ALL should be talking about ways to reduce the chances of this happening again. If your solution is "we're going to take your guns," you're not being reasonable. If your response is "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED," you're being unreasonable, too.

FWIW, when I purchased my last AR online the local FFL holder literally said "check them all _______ except for the last one and sign here" or something to that affect. I'm really starting to get the opinion that we need to hold retailers responsible when events like this happens. If you overserve somebody at a bar, you get charged if they drive off and kill somebody. I'm kinda getting the same feeling about gun dealers and individuals who sell/give away their guns. If that gun dealer in Uvalde knew that he faced prison time if that goth kid in the black trench coat came in wanting to buy a couple of ARs and few hundred rounds of ammo (a humongous red flag, IMO).... this whole thing might not have happened. Kinda like when I was watching the news on the morning after the shooting in Vegas and listening to the gunfire I instantly said "holy crap.... that's full auto." Then some 2A nutjob that manufactures the "bumpstocks" comes on trying to explain how it ISN'T an automatic weapon, but rather a semi-auto that fires itself and I thought to myself... "this jerk has to know that these things will only be used for one thing... spraying a crowd... and he's trying to defend it. The gun owners are losing the argument and their too stubborn to realize it. It's time to make some changes that don't involve point our fingers at the other guys.
-
Well, if you're unhappy with something and unwilling to do anything about it, then you are in fact okay with it. That's just common sense. I hear what you're saying... but that also would mean that we should be able to own a fully automatic machine gun if we wished. There are restrictions in place on those (or at least you have to have a license to own one) and I think that the common sense of most people would point towards a consensus that the restrictions on automatic weapons are good thing... even if it "infringes" on your right to shoot up a school. When there are so many school shootings going on that we can't even keep track of them all anymore, it's getting a little late to keep sticking our heads in the sand as gun owners and saying "I don't care about those kids.... I've got my rights, you know." Because that's kinda what's happening these days.
