  1. I saw an interview with Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters and he had no clue that Prince was gonna cover their song during the show... he saw it live on TV with the rest of us during arguably the best halftime show ever.
  2. All jokes aside, the process of picking a supreme court justice based solely on their skin color violates the Constitution. Just read through the 14th Amendment to determine if anybody other than a black woman is having their "equal protection under the law" violated by this process. Because they are.
  3. I think it's going to be harder and harder to have a "good" Super Bowl Show. Our musical tastes have gotten so divergent over the last 30-40 years that NO artist is going to please more than a small segment of the population. I distinctly remember when songs like Michael Jackson/Paul McCartney's, Kenny/Dolly, and even Garth Brooks (Shameless) were huge crossover hits. These days music is so fragmented that we all have a specific sub-sub-sub genre that we're really into. I like country, but not mainstream country. And more specifically the texas/oklahoma brand of country. Not the classic, the 90s, bluegrass, Americana, or folk... but I do like the newer stuff from parts of Appalachia. Rock, hip-hop, and pop are just as segmented. This one was good and it was nostalgic. I don't know who else you can pick that would please a lot of people. Lady Gaga was good, but just didn't appeal to anywhere a majority of fans. I thought the same thing when The Who played years ago... I was pumped. But kids don't remember The Who having the loudest concert ever recorded or them reuniting for Randy Quaid's party at the Astrodome. Bruno Mars put on a good show, but I honestly didn't know any of his music. That's going to be a problem going forward.
  4. I like that he's a hometown guy and I like that he's been doing his thing down in Manvel. Black dude is a feather in his cap as far as I'm concerned.
  5. The Jasper Alum that's the OC in Manvel should be getting some serious consideration. Seems like a perfect fit.
  6. I seem to remember Whitewater/Ken Starr/Lewinsky being everywhere in the 90s. Weird kids talking about the President's easily identifiable genitals around the breakfast table. The problem is this... anybody can relate to an era when their side was getting savaged. Whether it was Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Obama, Trump, or whoever else. We can all remember when our guy was getting hammered and have no problems when they start hammering the other side. How long will it be before some yahoo starts impeachment proceedings against Biden if the Rs take the House this year? Will it matter if they have grounds? No, because they went after Trump without grounds (the first time, anyways). I just don't see the cycle ever stops... in fact, it's just escalating. I called for Trump to pardon Hillary in early 2017 and I wonder if that would have changed the entire tone of what's happening today. Just a quick "Today I pardoned Hillary Clinton. I think it's best that we move forward as country in this new era of civility." What's she going to do? Yell "I didn't do anything!" We wouldn't be dealing with this mess today.
  7. My whole life I was taught to believe that Christians were being "persecuted." I was like, "really? I'm not feeling it." It sounds dumb, but the first time that I ever really felt that way was when they went after the Duck Dynasty guy for saying that the Bible says that homosexuality is wrong. I paused... when the Bible is considered hate speech, we're in uncharted territory.
  8. That's the beauty of what I do... If you stick around long enough, you'll hear something you agree with.
  9. No doubt.... I just hope it works better than it has in a lot of other places. Not necessarily with big wheels like Valero, but in a lot of places those guys come in and secure community funding to build a facility and pay themselves really well to do so... and it folds up in no time because the only money was made by the company pitching the project to local government. You know the old saying "There's only one way to win the shell game... be the guy who gets the other guy to play."
  10. I still think that if I were the head LEO, I'd come out with a contrite press conference and say that since we've failed the public so badly, we've decided to self-impose seven days off without pay for each and every LEO under my supervision. We're just going home. So just in case anybody was wondering, there will be no police presence for the next 168 hours. Citizens, arm yourselves..... and thank your DA for whatever happens next.
  11. I saw that 9.7% increase for producers... you know that's gonna get passed on the end purchaser. It doesn't bode well for retail pricing in the coming months. As bad as inflation seems right now, I've got a bad feeling that by the end of the year we'll look back at february and say "well, that was nothing compared to now."
  12. It sounds great on the surface, but the government subsidized biofuel/biomass projects seem like they've failed everywhere they've been tried. There's a power plant in Woodville that was never utililzed after completion. The pellet mill that's there has never operated anywhere near full capacity. If you're familiar with east texas, it's not hard to remember LP in Silsbee, The Champion Mill in Sheldon, etc... heck, there was even a huge sawmill in Bon Weir until about 20 years ago. I kinda wonder if that's where this project will be built. But the idea of 142 permanent jobs in Newton County AND a market for pine pulp/chips is worth the risk, I guess. It could really be a game-changer out there. Newton might fool around and get an electric scoreboard with lights if those goes right.
  13. No, it’s not. We’ve had Reagan scanning the internet for any shred of evidence for over a year now… all he can find are hearsay accounts on right-wing hack-job websites. With the trump-controlled DOJ, FBI, and countless state governments using everything in their imaginations we got exactly nothing. Those guys literal jobs were on the line and they batted .000? You had Rudolph out there daily promising that he was going to be presenting evidence “tomorrow,” but tomorrow never came. The Pillow Man was out there doing his part, but he never came up with a single credible shred of evidence. I wanted Trump to win because I felt like he was the lesser of two evils by just a smidge. I even expected that we’d find widespread election fraud…. But there was never any proof presented. None. At some point you have to admit that he lost and move on, and 90% of trump’s supporters keep waking up like it’s the day after the election… kinda like the movie Groundhog Day. “Trump was winning when I went to bed last night!” I respect Tvc’s legal thought process. If there was widespread voter fraud all over this nation and it cost trump the election, why wasn’t there any evidence of that fraud? Wouldn’t somebody have talked? Wouldn’t there be HD video taken on multitudes of cellphones? Wouldn’t some knucklehead Democrat staffer accidentally post something on their Snapchat or Twitter? Apparently not. Did some people vote twice? I’m gonna say “sure, just like in every election.” Did roughly 4 million people vote twice and somehow manage to avoid detection across the country? Not a chance. Perpetuating the Big Lie has done more to damage us than anything else. Heck, a few thousand otherwise sane people assaulted the Capitol after hearing that same lie repeated over and over.
  14. Can anybody explain to me again why Jasper got 47 applicants and a state leader like WOS only managed to get 13?
  15. The Institutional Integrity of our Democracy was way further undermined by claims of "election fraud" in 2020 when it turned out to be a bad case of "sore loser" backed up with exactly "zero" evidence presented in any court anywhere. And the fact that about 60 million people still believe that lie. "ThErE's nO waY Biden gOt 81 milLiOn voTEs!!!!!!" Although i'm trembling with anticipation for the next "R" win when the Dems claim it's all because of "voter suppression." Another fantastic lie.
  16. Good luck proving where your "illegal information" came from. Besides, if the best argument you have isn't "that's not true" but rather "you're not supposed to be talking about it"....... you bet on the wrong horse, son. BF ran out of time to get his act together. It happens all of the time. So long and good luck.
  17. Ummmm... I expected it to be a little more dynamic, but overall a decent show. I got most excited when Snoop started c-walking. Kendrick Lamar's part was not good at all. I couldn't help but notice a complete lack of diversity in this season of change.... Eminem was the only white dude out there, artist, dancer, etc.... This new form of racism isn't any better than the old one. BUT, I totally wasn't bothered by the kneeling. Kneel all you want.... I just didn't like when it was happening during the National Anthem. It made about as much sense as yelling "Black Lives Matter" during every moment of silence. It doesn't matter how important your message is... if you lose the audience because of your delivery, you haven't achieved a thing. Prince was the best ever, in my opinion.
  18. I guess I'm the only one here that remembers back when Trump, Jr met with a Russian lawyer to buy dirt on Hillary. [Hidden Content] Politics is a dirty business. Trump lost. Get over it.
  19. Trump has personally paid for eight. Does that make him "willing to do any and all evil that exist(s)?"
  20. It doesn't help anyone... it helps those of us that have our dough invested. My house? Worth 19% more in the last year or so. My investment property? With the way that folks are building, I'm REALLY looking good going forward. Used vehicles? Up 40%. If you're a sucker who's punching a clock and spending all of your dough on eating out and taking vacations, then "yes," inflation sucks. If you're holding anything but cash it's all gravy, baby.
  21. It's all smoke and mirrors. First off, those "10s of thousands of pipeline jobs" are temporary... Or usually temporary because it normally doesn't take 12 years to build a pipeline, eh? What you're ACTUALLY left with is a smattering of pipeline operators and contractors to maintain the right-of-way. But more importantly, how do you feel about all of the truckers who are currently transporting that crude over the road? Or the guys that sell the trucks/trailers/parts to the trucking industry? What about the waitress at the truck stop who's going to be looking for a job once the trucks stop rolling? The main reason for building the pipeline is that it will cut the oil companies costs, meaning their payroll/expenses... you know, that money that they HAVE to currently put back into the local economy. You're basically in favor of pipeline that's going to destroy American jobs.
