  1. I read an interesting article on the subject yesterday. They explained that the chips that traditional car makers use are older technology... and that chip manufacturers aren't willing to invest in manufacturing, older, slower, larger chips for automakers when most new technology is relying on new technology. Part of the problem was blamed on longevity. The average smart phone is replaced after 3 or 4 years, max.... because technology is evolving that quickly. People are driving their cars for 10+ years in most cases, so the technology becomes obsolete before the car has run through its expected life cycle... and automakers aren't worried about cutting edge technology that will be obsolete long before the product is worn out. It was pretty in depth, and I'm guessing that the Tesla products are more technologically advanced and using newer designed chips/processors.
  2. Livingston, Texas. Rachel Leggett was married to Timmy Leggett. They were supposed to be out of town one evening so her son decided to throw a party... which got canceled because Rachel/Timmy didn't leave town. Sometime after dark a pickup comes up in their yard doing doughnuts, so Timmy cranks off a couple of rounds from the front porch and the truck leaves. They decide to call the sheriff to let them know what happened, but Timmy is on probation for a couple of DWIs so they decided to tell the cops that Rachel, not Timmy, was the shooter. They also decided to tell the fuzz that Timmy was in the yard and the truck was trying to run Timmy over... because it makes the story less stupid. They call 911 and the dispatcher tells them that the vehicle was en route to the hospital because somebody inside the truck got hit. Rachel/Timmy go down to the SO and give statements saying that Rachel did the shooting because Timmy's life was in danger. Then the kid that was shot died the next day. Apparently the truck was being driven by one kid and the truck's owner was riding as passenger. The kids in the truck didn't get the memo that the party got canceled and were just showing up being rowdy. At this point, Rachel already confessed to shooting at the truck. Timmy's fam retained an attorney and he advised them to stick with their story (Rachel was the shooter) because "nobody is going to jail anyways." This rocks on for about a year or so while Rachel is out on bond... And Timmy is working down in the Valley. Apparently it gets lonely down in the valley (and Rachel can't leave town), so Timmy gets a mistress. NOTE... if your wife is actively taking a murder charge for you, DON'T CHEAT. Not even a little. The attorney (hired by Timmy's folks) just keeps saying to stay the course, it'll all work out. Against his advice, Rachel goes down and tells the truth to the authorities... DA, if I'm not mistaken. The law admits that they'd known that Timmy (not Rachel) was the shooter since that initial night at the SO because they'd overheard them discussing the matter. But Rachel's confession had them stuck without a way to prosecute Timmy. The trial comes and Rachel testifies against Timmy... something that they couldn't actually force her to do because she was still married to Timmy. Based on her testimony Timmy gets 99 years... but they prosecuted Rachel for lying about her involvement early on. I think a lot of it had to do with having bad counsel bought/paid for by the family of the guy who was put away by Rachel's testimony. Most people thought that she would get a slap on the wrist based on her cooperation with getting Timmy convicted. Wrong. They convicted her and sentenced her to the maximum amount possible for the crime for which she was convicted. After the sentence was handed down, the Judge walked down and hugged the victim's mom. The Texas Ranger that investigated the shooting had an affair with the victim's mom... the mom and dad subsequently divorced. The Ranger and the mom are still together, as far as I know. The kid played baseball and was a senior if my memory is correct. Every year they have a big goat roping or some crap over there. The family still thinks that Rachel should have received a life sentence, too. She's been up for parole every year and gets turned down. She's over eight years in now and will be released before her next possible parole date. I personally think she should march through the next Rhett Latham Memorial Goat Roping with her head held high and buy a t-shirt, but that's just my vindictive side coming out.
  3. It's gotten to the point that I almost always assume that claims of overt racism are fake. That's sad, because I'm sure that they still exist, but but every time I see that some biracial couple had slurs painted across their garage door I'm like "uh huh.... here we go again." I was telling my Dad in 2008 about how I was worried that some redneck would try to assassinate Obama. He doubted it because "the people who feel strongly enough about race to actually act do something are too old to do anything about it." I don't think he was wrong. That's why the focus has had to move to "systemic" racism which can't be proved.
  4. On a related subject, I know a woman that got 8 years for lying to the cops during an investigation. She's been in over seven years and just got turned down for parole again.... and she's been a model prisoner, supposedly. The case was a big deal in their small community and the DA/Judge/Victim's family have all worked to keep her locked up. It doesn't help that the Ranger who investigated the case ended up having an affair (and is still with) the victim's mom. Long story short, she'll do every day of her sentence when she's released next spring. I guess the good news is that there won't be any parole... she's just done with it. If anybody wants to hear the story i'll type out my version of it.
  5. We're undefeated in District. Don't sleep on us.
  6. It's the lead on Drudge.... Your last post was from the Gateway Pundit, soooooo.......
  7. At long last the auditing is complete... [Hidden Content] Biden won even bigger, LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Despite repeated claims to "not raise taxes on American families earning less than $600/year," They're trying to find unreported income from people who make ANY amount of money. Everybody's gonna have have to pony up their "fair share" in our new Socialist Utopia.
  9. I'm pretty sure that God hates Newton County as a whole. Floods, Hurricanes, wildfires, more floods.... even their only Mexican Food Restaurant burned down. On a plus note, they did get the burned-down courthouse rebuilt. I actually had a place on Toledo Bend and Allstate was like "pass" when I tried to insure the place. They said that it was because there were no fire departments out there. I was like, "no way! I'm literally like a mile from the fire station at Indian Creek" and they just laughed and hung up.
  10. My understanding is that the vent is a treatment of last resort... they put the patient on a vent when they will literally die in minutes because of lost lung function. I mean, they could forgo the vent and just let them croak and that would help your 75% stat, but I doubt that the families of the 25% who do survive would appreciate that. That's a remarkable change from earlier in the pandemic when they thought vents were the answer. We're in much better shape now than we were in the summer of 2020 in regards to treatment. If we were still doing things the "old way" this summer the Delta variant would have many more victims.
  11. Social security is a pyramid scheme. Everybody just clenches their teeth and hopes that they make it to retirement age so that they can yell "it's my money!" when, in fact, there's nowhere near enough put back. If you hoped to retire, you'd need to put 10%+ into a retirement account that compounded with interest/growth to have any hopes of retiring. Instead, you're putting up 12.4 of your income (up to $142,800- you have social security withholdings above that number the wage cap used to be lower). When you go through the math, 12.4% of what you earned back in 1972 isn't going to make a dent in your cost of living in 2021 since that money wasn't invested.... there's been no compounding. Factor in all of the sick, lame, and lazy who never contributed much but started getting crazy checks in their 20s and it's easy to see why the SS Fund is unsustainable. It's going to crush under its own weight, but all that matters is getting to retirement age and yelling "it's my money, and I deserve more of it" which is a complete lie.
  12. That stuff is DANGEROUS. Somebody gave me a chunk of a Nerds Rope/edible and I woke up with some strange woman's tongue in my mouth.
  13. Same.... like how does a 71 year old retired Pentecostal Lady end up feeling that Trump was sent here by God to save us from the Left? He's one of the most immoral presidents that we've ever had. So much love for Melania by the ultraconservatives.... you know, the ones who say Michelle Obama is really a man. Did you think we'd ever have a First Lady whose nudes are readily available on the internet? I sure didn't.... and I NEVER would have believed that her and her husband would be the darlings of the ultraconservatives! WTH? Bizarro World, I tell you.
  14. Don’t take it from me. Trump himself boasted that he could shoot somebody in broad daylight on 5th avenue and not lose any voters. My guess is that he (like you) believes that envy is the only reason somebody would vote against Trump. [Hidden Content]
  15. I guess that's the question... if the Feds gave 2m of the 1 bn dollars of texas' money for Beaumont's public transportation, then where did it go? [Hidden Content] Sorry... it was 6.26 million for public transportation improvements in Beaumont. PAT got 6.22 million as well. I'm just saying.. if you're still driving the same ol' raggedy buses and the drivers/contractors didn't get a bump, then where did the money go?
  16. Honestly? No.... to most people he's a cartoon character come to life, but somehow idolized by people who you'd expect to despise him. I know a handful of Pentecostal people who whole-heartedly support Trump. Despite the 8 abortions he paid for, confessed sexual assaults, foul language, infidelities, "Corinthians Two," etc..... I used to wonder how Hitler rose to power. Blind loyalty.... that's the answer, and there are a lot of people walking around with undying loyalty to Trump. Heck, a few thousand of them ransacked the Capitol back in January.
  17. In 2016, Hillary’s democratic voters didnt turn out and Trump’s supporters did. Trump’s supporters (and more) turned out in 2020, too, but he mobilized millions of other people to go vote for Biden. Die hard trump supporters overlook his buffoonery…. Moderates, undecideds, and lefties all went out and voted to get rid of Trump. And he only has himself to blame.
  18. The last number that I read claimed that almost 60% of Americans paid no income tax in 2020, partly because of gifts from the Treasury because of Covid. It's hard to exist when the people who don't pay taxes actually set the spending/taxes. It's like loading the family up to go out and eat, and the kids picking what we're gonna eat because there are three kids in the back seat and they keep out-voting mom and dad up front.
  19. Higher education has become a bad joke.... It's too expensive, and the value of a degree has diminished as more people get them. I can't imagine trying to start out with $100k in student loan debt. When I was going to college in the early 90s, a kid could scrape up $1500 to pay for a semester of school during the summer if he was willing to work a little. There's no way that a kid can scratch up $5k over the course of a summer to pay for that same semester of school.
  20. The only problem is that instead of welcoming immigrants like the hard-working, God-loving, family people that they are, we line up behind a president that accuses them of all being rapists and criminals and chant "built the wall!! Send them back!!!" But then we wonder why they want to vote liberal.
  21. I think a lot of people like Trump because they believe that he's the man that they secretly wish they could be. They wish that they had the backbone to just say whatever they wanted to anybody. They wish they could tell their boss where to to go. They look at their wife and wish that they, too, could bag a beautiful broad that sounds like Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle. They wish that they, too, had the money to install gold plated faucets in their trailer house, but they don't. But their God does. Trump 2024.
  22. Not exactly... Trump actually has some devout (and deluded) followers. Biden doesn't.
  23. No, the fact that Trump did such a good job of alienating people that he lost the House, Senate, eventually the presidency to the worst presidential ticket, ever... Biden/Harris. As a politician you have two jobs... to make it easy to vote for you and hard to vote for the other guy. Trump failed miserably at this. You're right.. Joe Biden could never get 83 million people to vote for him... but Trump actually DID get 83 million people to vote for Biden. And that's beyond most Trump Supporters' ability to comprehend. Even though you get wet when Trump says dumb stuff, most decent people aren't willing to let his buffoonery slide.
