West Orange Stark job open/HICKMAN APPROVED
CardinalBacker replied to a topic in High School Football
I'm not gonna lie... I was completely surprised that we didn't have an announcement yesterday on MLK Day. Winning football games is nice, but when you have the chance to right the wrongs of the past 400 years, you hire the black coach. Sorry, Tow-B. -
Trump Really Could Be On His Way Back To The White House!
CardinalBacker replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
Did y'all see where Trump is already shredding Desantis at his rallies? The next time you won't have a sleepy Biden as competition... they'll put somebody likable up who will walk all over Trump. The masses aren't going to go form hating Trump to loving him... they'll just hate Biden and elect somebody who is neither Trump or Biden. If Trump runs again, the Dems will win. Mark it down. *Even if Trump doesn't win the R nomination, so many of his hare-brained supporters will pout instead of voting in the general. It amazes me how blind his followers are. -
That's what I've been saying all along. Trump's base was gonna support him no matter what... they still do. It made no sense to keep playing to his base while alienating the people in the middle whose votes he needed to get elected. He needed to stop being a jerk just to make the mouth breathers in the MAGA hats cheer at his Nazi rallies.

Huh? I did watch the debates.... And I had a literal crisis of conscience on whether or not I could vote for him again after the way he behaved in the first debate. By the time the third debate (the second got canceled) came around, I think he'd already lost the election. That man did not deserve to be our President.... regardless of how "good" he was for the economy. He was a horrible, divisive, repugnant pig of a man whose true colors were once again shown by the fit(s) he threw after he'd lost the election. I remember how he was "offended" that Hillary didn't call on election night to concede... but then he refused to accept the results of the next election, up to and including a failed insurrection at our capitol. But don't blame his performance... blame people who reacted to his performance and voted against him.
-
No, Trump's behavior worked against the good of the country. If he had behaved like a decent person, he'd be in the oval office today. Just because you condone his behavior obviously doesn't mean that everybody else will overlook his abrasiveness, rudeness, and lawlessness. He thought the rules didn't apply to him, and now he's done. Unfortunately the rest of us got screwed, too.

The example is spot on. You're a Trump fan (instead of a Giants fan). Trump lost the election (like the Giants had a crappy year). You're blaming the Giants fans who didn't go to the games and the opposing teams as the reason that the Giants had a bad year. Trump screwed himself. I understand that you fell for his "America First" theme, but you really need to look at the facts. He got molly-whopped by the worst candidate ever. That's not the worst candidate ever's fault. He did his job. Trump failed miserably at his (getting people to vote for him). Now you want to cry about the refs, too (the fixed election lie).

coup /ko͞o/ noun 1. a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government. I don't remember the sudden violent, illegal seizure of power... What did I miss?

This is a sports site, so I'll use a sports analogy. Let's assume there's a football team. They're a rotten football team. They lose all of their games. You would be a fan of that sorry team, but blaming the other fans because there's nobody in the stadium to close out their season. You are literally like a diehard New York fan arguing that the New York Giants FANS, not the team, are the reason that there was nobody in their stands last week. Trump should have won walking away, but he got his cheeks clapped by an imbecile and his whorish sidekick. That's a tough pill to swallow, I guess, so you just have to blame everybody else.
-
And they'll have flags on their trucks that read "Trump 2024" (if they don't already have them) and be yelling "let's go brandon." Because as bad as Trump was, his supporters did a lot to motivate people to come out and vote for "anybody but Trump again." You're blaming the wrong people as always.
-
Don't take my word for it.... take your daddy's. [Hidden Content] And for what it's worth, Trump is only out for Trump. He gets ahead by saying "America First" and people like you that eat it up.... it's actually Trump 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.... you're just a vehicle he needs to arrive at more power. Kinda like being Pro-life unless it's a really messy situation that he's personally involved in.

That man will do anything to avoid playing Silsbee.
-
So let me get this straight... You say "baby killers will never get my vote" which is a pretty strong statement with zero wiggle room, but then when pressed on the fact that Trump avoided the direct question on whether or not he'd actually paid for one, you stammer "if...if....if...... if he did then it's wrong, but I don't know that." That, my friend, is a cuck move.

Sinema Goes to Floor For Filibuster Support
CardinalBacker replied to Hagar's topic in Political Forum
I think being two-faced is a criterion for being a politician. Just like when the Republican Senate didn't want to approve Obama's pick for the Supreme Court with a looming presidential election in 2016, but turned around and crammed Trump's pick through in 2020 without even blushing. The answer is "well, the other side would have done the same thing given the opportunity" and they're not wrong. The Republicans would have done away with the filibuster when it suited their purposes. You can't be too mad if the Dems try to do away with it when it suits THEIR purposes. It's all semantics. -
It's gonna get better as soon as we get all of this racism under control.

No, it was 81 million decent people who weren't willing to ignore the blatant evil that Trump presented on a daily basis. Unlike most "Christian" and "conservative" people that I know... they were all willing to overlook all of his misdeeds and vote Trump anyways. But somehow it's the decent people who are now being blamed. Christians and conservatives had a chance to denounce Trump's Godless behaviors and nominate a morally decent candidate, but they didn't. That's who's to blame for the current mess... People like you who blindly ignored Trump's garbage.

Texas Poll Shows Allen West Crushing Gov. Greg Abbott!
CardinalBacker replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
This part I'm not sure about. The idea that in some places you should pay 3% of what your home is worth annually just to continue to own it is preposterous. Those old days of owning a rental property and calculating 10x the monthly rent as your gross income and allowing the other two months to cover your taxes/insurance are long gone. A house that rents for $1500/month in mid county would likely carry a $4000 + annual tax bill. That's just not feasible, but somebody has to feed the pigs, I guess. Your best bet when dealing with the CAD is to fight them within the confines of their framework. Protest, Arbitration, etc.... The people who don't fight them are subject to random/huge increases. Mine bounced from $140k to $240k this year... I protested and got it down to $210k, but with the tax ceiling this year it's held to somewhere in the 170s... but it will go up 10% a year until it hits the $210k. The thing is this... my place is worth every bit of that. Those old days of owning a $125k dollar house and paying taxes on a $75k dollar house are gone. If your new actual market value is $200k, you pay taxes on that entire $200k. Which is how it should have been all along. The unfortunate part of rising real estate prices is that while your property is worth more, you don't realize that increase in value unless you sell... but you're taxed on that increased value every year until then. -

For what it's worth, that's not the tax assessor, that's a appraiser from the Appraisal District that's looking at your place. They'll just do it by satellite. Or they hit you with a notice of appraised value high enough to make you protest. If you don't like the values they come up with, you'll let them do their job. Or you can just pay that bill that's created using an artificially high value because of your dogs/gates. Or you can refuse to pay and they'll sell it somebody who will pay the taxes on it. You don't HAVE to pay property taxes. The tax system isn't the problem. It's local politicians wanting to grow their empires that keep your taxes on the increase. I find it laughable that people who cry about the lack of athletic facilities in our area (compared to higher tax areas in NE Texas) and the sad state of coaches' pay in our area turn around and complain about their taxes being too high. My opinion is that local taxes (county/school/cities) are out of control. But the solution isn't to do away with the property tax system... You're still gonna pay the same amount, just in some other form. What would you like to pay an additional $4k dollars (or whatever your property tax bill is) for this year? Your income? A 25% sales tax rate? How much will that add to the price of your already inflated new car that you have to buy? The problem is the fleet of new vehicles around every government facility. When the legislature locked counties/cities/ESDs to a 3.5% limit on new tax dollars generated (without an election) a few years back, they almost revolted.... because they were used to being "limited" to an 8% growth on new tax dollars generated. Unfortunately SB2 didn't do anything to curb out of control school spending, and that's where the bulk of your tax bill goes. We had about a thousand kids in the school where I graduated. A principal, Asst principal, and two counselors. Do you know how many administrators most schools have these days?
