I don't have a problem with a rowdy protest at the capitol. I'm not as concerned if the breach of the capitol occurred at any other particular time... that's a just a badly conceived protest. What happened on 1/6/21 was not a protest... it was a intentionally timed attempt to destroy the very fabric of our government. But when that horde went down to stop the peaceful transfer of power that has been the hallmark of our democracy for almost 200 years.... it's a whole different situation. You can say "but... but.... but...... people burned cop cars all over the country in the spring!" It's not the same. Not even close.

Both sides are wrong as usual. Trump/Rudy sent the horde down the street to stop the certification of electoral votes. You can't get a more textbook insurrection than that. You can't compare that to looting foot locker. I'm sorry, but they aren't the same. As is often the case, the Dems are betting the house that harping on "the insurrection" will win them elections. It will not. Nobody cares anymore. They're more concerned about inflation and Covid. The longer they keep mining the same ground over and over, the worse the outcome will be for those pushing the investigations. People are sick of it on both sides of the aisle. I'll say the same thing that I said in 2016.... If Trump wanted to win votes, all he needed to do is pardon Hillary and say "we all just need to move on." Biden could do the same thing now for Trump and fix his own popularity issue.

Yeah, there's nothing okay about considering a person's race before providing life saving medication. In fact, we shouldn't consider a person's race before doing anything, but then who would minorities know who to vote for?

I’m not knocking a black coach… I’m all in favor of hiring the best coach regardless of race. My projection is that WOS will hire the best black coach they can find. There’s no difference between skipping a candidate because he’s black or hiring a candidate because he’s black. Both actions are racist. And the gen pop over there has been letting everybody know for years what color they expect their next coach to be. -

What’s really gonna change things is when the school can issue that press release about how WOS has finally hired a black head coach… and everyone cheers “it’s about time!” That’s way more important than winning football games. If WOS still manages to win, it’ll just be icing on the cake. -

That’s not true. They need to prioritize the elimination of hurtful words and traditions while promoting coaches and players from traditionally marginalized communities. The wrongs of the past must be righted and this is a start. Diversity is strength. -
But..... I thought the Dems said that we were supposed to be mad about foreign interference in our elections?

In this season of social justice, renaming institutions like "the blue link," and the familiar outcry from the majority of citizens in WOS, race will be the primary reason for disqualifying white candidates. Y'all 'bout to find out about "equity" really means in terms of football, lol. -

The community only cares about one thing over there these days. And it ain’t winning. -
It's a grey area... we've all pretty much decided (well, except for the far lefties that want to allow children to vote) that 18 y/o is a minimum voting age. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only elected position for which there is a minimum age requirement is the Presidency. Other that that particular office (and I concede that it's an important one), there really aren't any minimum age requirements to hold political office. And the max age one is hard... I know people who have totally lost their marbles due to Alzheimer's at 56 years old... and some 73 year olds that are capable of running large firms. It's the same with drivers licensing. At some point we all lose the ability, but the number of days since our individual birth is pretty much irrelevant to that lost ability. I absolutely think old people should have to start taking driving tests to maintain their license... but ask me how I feel about that in 15 years and you'll probably get a different response. That's what most of these of boys are having problems with... it's a completely different scenario when it's your time to face losing your privileges.

We had this same conversation back in 2016. I had a coworker who was retiring and her overall work performance and mental acuity were greatly diminished. The kicker is that she is exactly the same age as Hillary. You mental state and abilities are not the same as somebody else who was born in the same timeframe 65 years ago. It varies.

In texas, no judge older than 74 can run for office... something similar should also be in place for all elected officials. Perhaps with an older age. Age is pretty subjective though.... you'd never believe that Biden is practically the same age as Trump... Biden's physical/mental condition is way, way worse than trump.

Nevada Cops And DEA Seize Life Savings Of Innocent Marine!
CardinalBacker replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
[Hidden Content] It's a cash grab for local LEOs and the legislators are hesitant to do the right thing because they don't want to get labeled "soft" on crime... despite the fact that everyday people are literally being shaken down by cops. Average price to recover money seized by the cops is $20k and two years, allegedly. -

That's my point... it doesn't matter what his story is, first of all. A suspicious story should not be enough of a reason to take a person's money. Period. A police officer's opinion as to whether or not a person "should" be carrying money is no excuse to just take it. The only valid reason for a police office to seize money is when they can prove that a crime has been committed... prove, not believe or suspect. You know, evidence, facts... stuff like that. Not just "my experience tells me that nobody should be riding around with $90k... but don't worry... if he can PROVE why he has that much cash to us, we'll give it back." Secondly, we both know that the process of recovering money from these situations is expensive. You'll spend 1000s of dollars and who knows how long trying to convince the police to give your money back. Like I said... officers who seize citizen's cash without being able to prove that it was ill gotten should spend as long in prison as they would have for actually stealing those funds. The only people that don't agree with that wear badges. That's a fact. That "it should be returned and be done with" portion of your statement should also include a criminal prosecution for the officer. -

This has always been a pet peeve of mine. The cops take your money, and you're going to have to pay an attorney (whose going to expect a large portion of YOUR money) to try and get your money back from the cops who were "suspicious." I can tell from TVC's responses that he's been washed in the blood and believes that anybody with cash in the car is doing something illegal, and therefore deserves to lose it unless they can prove in court that they came about it legitimately. You can say all you want about crooked cops, institutional racism, systemic bias, etc.... but there's really not a way to prove it. This particular example is easily proven. Law enforcement has the burden of proof, right? Not in these cases. "Pay up and prove it's legal, or we're taking it." I firmly believe that when officers/DAs are criminally prosecuted for each every failed confiscation attempt, innocent people will stop being victimized by unscrupulous law enforcement officials. -
Parents charged in Michigan High School Shooting
CardinalBacker replied to thetragichippy's topic in The Locker Room
You know, I'd normally question why the parents would be punished, but it only seems fitting if the statements made by the investigators are true. You can't just pretend like your kid isn't mentally deranged, even if you really, REALLY support the second amendment. Reminds me of the schizo that killed Dimebag. His mom bought him a pistol as a reward for taking his meds like a big boy... then he stopped taking them but was armed.
