That's my problem... when you have someone as polarizing as Trump, who turns out to be adored by the White Supremacists, the people who stormed the Capitol, the people who believe that God sent Trump here to save our Nation, people who believe that Trump will be "reinstated," and a whole bunch of other whack-a-doodles, and decent people just don't want to be lumped in with that crowd. A political candidate has two jobs... to make it easy for people to vote for you and hard to vote for the other guy. Trump failed miserably at both. He literally drove people to the polls to vote against himself. The awesome part is that some people are delusional enough to think that things will somehow be different if than 2020 if he runs again in 2024.

Whoever wins the Democratic nomination in 2024 will be next President unless Trump totally removes himself from race two years prior to the election. Trump will never be re-elected, and his numbskulled supporters won't turn out to vote for any other R candidate if it's not Trump. Every day there are thousands of conservatives (and likely R voters) dying of old age at the same time that there are thousands of young indoctrinated liberals turning 18 and eligible to vote.

I think it's the tale of two presidencies. There WAS a lot accomplished. But there was also a lot of damage done and THAT is what led to Biden being elected. Trump was a polarizing figure... you either loved him or hated him, but either way people went to the polls and voted for or against him. It's kinda silly to overlook all of the accomplishments that were noted and yell "but he was the worst president." But it's equally silly to look only at his achievements and ignore all of the things he did that led to millions of people voting against him. I do have a problem with your last statement. It's not just a Biden/Harris issue, but rather an issue that has plagued us since GWB took office. Our spending is out of control, and it's going to have to be brought back in line or we're going to fail as a nation. If it's not too late, it's gonna be soon. The problems with inflation are just the tip of the iceberg. We have all of this money being borrowed and blown on "covid," then add in the amounts being pledge to "infrastructure," THEN add in the promises being made in the name of "social justice" and I think you'll see our constitutional republic sunk not by violent enemies who wish to do us harm, but rather by our creditors.

Where’s The Lie Though? [Trigger Warning]
CardinalBacker replied to InMAGAWeTrust's topic in Political Forum
For me it's watching those old guys who are barely able to stand but still doing so proudly for the anthem. It's Bob Dole struggling to stand and salute John McCain's casket. It's the belief that we're all a part of something that's much bigger than we are as individuals. It's recognizing the mistakes of the past and re-committing to make sure that "for all" really means for all. But if you hate America I can understand why you'd kneel. -

Ummm…. It’s not just the flag. “And to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Instead of reciting that pledge and re-affirming that the “for all” part hasn’t always been true, people like Kap would prefer that we always stay divided. “Social Justice” means that somebody must be punished. Why do we all chant “no justice, no peace” whenever a black person is killed? Because somebody needs to pay! By a white person, I mean…. Because black people don’t give a flip otherwise. I’ve never once heard a “no justice, no peace” chant after a black on black crime. -

For me, not Smash... It's two-pronged. We're (well, most of us) were taught from an early age to shut our mouths, close our eyes, and bow our heads when somebody is praying, and we're taught to stand and remove our hats when they play the anthem. It's just a sacred thing, I guess. I get the same feeling watching players "protest" during the anthem that I do when I see someone burning our flag. An analogy would be someone that talks during a moment of silence to prove a point... Kap is trying to win support for his argument by basically disrespecting a lot of peoples' deeply held values. I can't explain it. The whole black power fist doesn't bother me at all, other than thinking "meh... it kinda mars your moment of accomplishment, but whatever." Secondly, as a human with a business degree, it makes literally no sense to insult your customers. I mean, everybody likes a bad guy in pro wrestling, but I don't think that's what Kap was trying to do by protesting. We do a little PR work, and I promise that if I decided to bring my own personal beliefs on any subject into the workplace and my end result was to drive off business.... I shouldn't be surprised if the boss lets me go. It's just common sense. The idea that you take a giant dump on most of your employers' customers and therefore find yourself without a place to work, except you once again blame "racism" as the reason is just unfathomable. And it detracts from the original argument, that there is still injustice and oppression. Because the fact that no NFL team can use you because your actions alienated so many of their fans isn't racism.... it's just stupidity. -

You are correct.... but it's hard to get real upset about what happened on 1/6 if you support what happened in the race riots following George Floyd's unfortunate end. Some of us sit over here and think: 1. Kap is wrong, but is entitled to his opinion. But if his employer (because of the displeasure of the paying customers) wants the protesting to stop.... Kap should have stopped. Most of us are taught to show respect for the flag, the anthem, law enforcement, the military, etc.... if your whole plan for protest is to say "Bah.... those things that you hold dear to your heart are stupid" your plan isn't very well thought out. If your goal is to unite, why protest in a manner that causes more people to lose sympathy for your plight? 2. There is no justification for rioting or looting. Protesting is one thing. Crawling through a broken plate glass window to take that Sopranos box set and some sneakers just makes you a thug. 3. What happened at the Capital on 1/6 was wrong. It was completely predictable, totally avoidable, and embarrassing to rational people everywhere. -
I've got a niece that is really driven... she began teaching high school/coaching, got her Masters, and is now a mom, HS counselor and flips houses on the side. She doesn't understand what all of the complaining is about.

Also became the 45th President-the most powerful man on earth. Not too shabby for a grifter...

...often leads by the courthouse." I can't believe that nobody has started a thread on Trump Org and its CFO being indicted in New York. I remember a certain somebody predicting (accurately, it now seems) that Trump would spend the rest of his time/fortune trying to stay out of jail.

Let's be honest... the problem isn't with a word that you hear and use at practice every day (and all day, honestly) with people that look like you. Your problem is actually that you don't like who's saying the exact same word on Friday night. And if you think "racism" is getting a little smack thrown back at you by a "white boy" or a "cracker," then you don't know what racism is. Seriously, though... if a kid from Vidor, Lum, or even BC can use this magical word that would make their opponent lose his head/focus and potentially get himself tossed out of the game.... you wouldn't use it? I say it's about culture. One group teaches their kids "sticks and stones" and the other group teaches their kids that words can either be offensive or not offensive based on the color of the speaker's skin. So tell me... which group ends up handicapped?
-
That's been my experience as well... And I've always felt like much of Vidor's "past" was simply fiction. Seriously... We've all heard about the "sundown" sign. Isn't it crazy that there isn't a single photo of it? Certainly somebody, somewhere would have snapped an old polaroid pic, right? Nope. Not a one. Don't get me wrong, there ARE crazies everywhere, and possibly more in some places in others. But they NEVER outnumber the good people who won't stand to see others mistreated.

Homeless problem in SETX - What are the causes?
CardinalBacker replied to SmashMouth's topic in Local Headlines
I don’t know if you’re just refusing to admit the obvious or don’t recognize it. Literally every area that decriminalized marijuana/drug usage now has an exploding homelessness problem. -
Here's the problem.... As a nation we've fought the British, the Native Americans, the French, Mexico, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Italy, Japan, even each other... that's not even mentioning the entire cold war. And nobody holds any grudges against those people... But we're supposed to believe that we all still hate black people because we're upset that the North turned our great-great-great-great grandpappys' slaves lose 150+ years ago? Don't get me wrong... There are some people that believe that white people are superior to black people. They're a very, very, very small minority of white people, and they account for practically NONE of the problems facing the black community today. Serious question.... There's no way to accurately gauge it, but what percentage of the problems facing the black community can be attributed to racism, and what percentage can be considered self-inflicted in your opinion? I guarantee that you won't give your opinion on that one.

Body Part Found at Fatal Crash Scene 5 Days After Crash
CardinalBacker replied to bullets13's topic in Local Headlines
A wrecker driver told me that he was the first on scene at a single car wreck... the driver had struck a tree. Nobody was in the car and he realized that the windshield was blown out. He starts searching around in front of the car and found the driver lying flat on his stomach, toes in the dirt..... except his face was pointed straight up the sky... Head was absolutely on backwards... the wrecker driver said that the victim (drunk) was like "hey, man.... can you help me up?" The wrecker guy said that he ran back to his truck and waited for the amber lamps/po-po to show up. -
Homeless problem in SETX - What are the causes?
CardinalBacker replied to SmashMouth's topic in Local Headlines
Some people don't want help... They like the hustle, bustle, and freedom that comes with that lifestyle. Or they'd just rather do drugs than conform with society. I think it's laughable that the homeless problem is worsening at the same time that we are legalizing weed across the country and nobody wants to draw that conclusion. It's all just a coincidence, I guess.... even though the homeless problems are worse in areas where drug use is more tolerated. -

Why is it always black people protesting for greater gifts from the public treasury?
