  1. I'm going to go out on a limb and state for the record that those people crawled through windows and broke down doors at the capitol with the express purpose of stopping the certification of the votes and the peaceful transfer of power. You can paint it any which way that you want to, but hollering at a Congressman during a press conference doesn't compare with what Trump's supporters did on 1/6. He's been impeached (for the second time) and people are being convicted for their actions on that date.
  2. No, not an insurrection. That's when a mob overpowers barricades, attacks cops, breaks windows/doors to gain entry to our capital building in a failed attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power to the rightful winner of an election. These guys are in the wrong, but can't be compared to the attempted coup on 1/6.
  3. Is that right? I know a couple of people that still shoot dogs for showing up on their property... while it's a bad idea, I didn't realize that it was felonious. Nice use of that adjective, huh?
  4. Best episode of King of the Hill was when Hank's cousin Dusty came to town.
  5. They blame it on poverty. Being broke leads to desperation... theft, drugs, etc.... But the sad thing that nobody can correlate is that democratic policies lead to poverty, not impoverished people decide to become democrats BECAUSE they're impoverished. Then you have the false narratives about policing that lead to even more crimes. It's a vicious cycle and I don't know what fixes it. But I'm confident that raising monthly stipends for inner city dwellers isn't the answer. Neither are "reparations." It's going to take strong leadership, and there's none of that present in the democratic led areas. From mayors to councilmen to school superintendents to state/house reps... they're all a bad joke.
  6. I'm completely distanced from the team at this point. It'll be interested to see how the season goes. I felt like anything less than 3rd last year would be considered a disappointment. I'm thinking that making the four team field for the playoffs should be a realistic goal if the coach is as good as advertised. It's gonna be interesting to watch.
  7. Easy, sons… I think I’m the only BC fan here anymore. They’ll turn up if we start out winning a few, don’t worry. We’re dang near as bad as the L-train.
  8. So what about Bridge City?
  9. Ok… I’ll draw an analogy. Let’s pretend that I weigh 350 pounds. I never exercise and I eat complete garbage for every meal and snack non-stop. Then I walk around talking about how the reason I’m fat is because slaveowners gave the crappiest food to their slaves…. Even though I can’t tell you if my ancestors were slaves or not. THAT is exactly what CRT tries to do when blaming slavery from two centuries back for unrelated problems in 2021.
  10. If the announcer calls for a moment of silence to commemorate the death of George Floyd and I took the time to loudly discuss what a real life piece of crap that he was while everyone else was being quiet, you’d understand the disrespect.
  11. [Hidden Content] These are the people we get our news from.
  12. Well, you know the of the suspect by it's conspicuous absence in the headline and story. Otherwise they'd have been all "white man assaults blah, blah, blah...." Our news is a joke.
  13. Nah... greed is a part of the human being. Always has been, always will be. It's in all of us, and all it takes is a single person exercising his/her/their greed and the whole thing falls apart. Imagine that you're on a deserted island with one other person and two chickens. Every day the two of you can each enjoy an egg... unless somebody decides that they would rather have two eggs. Then the wheels fall off of your socialist utopia. Capitalism says "i think I'm gonna skip eating my egg for two or three days and incubate those dudes.... then I'll have four chickens dropping eggs." Socialism says "wait?!!! Why do you deserve four eggs every day when all I get is one? Is it because of my skin color?"
  14. Dana White from the UFC said it best… to paraphrase, he said “if you want to watch political crap, there are 80 other channels with something divisive on… we’re just gonna show fights.” Trump was at the show in Vegas last weekend and as far as I can tell the ufc just treated him like any other celebrity in attendance. No promo, no press… just a brief cameo and then back to the fights. People turn on sports to get away from their troubles… not get bashed over the head with non-stop lies about imagined oppression and perceived racism.
  15. I guess they're trying to make sure that the NBA doesn't destroy itself alone. "Here's the deal... we have tons of these black players "protesting" and pissing off the customers because they're disrespecting the national anthem. To show how much we care, we'll play a NEW anthem just for the black players that are disrespecting the actual anthem! It's a win-win!"
  16. Ummmm… we moved past equality. Now they demand “justice” for things that never happened to them, to be paid by people who never committed the acts in the first place.
  17. Hey! Any idea when we can expect the much-anticipated preview for Bridge City?
  18. There's no better argument against sideline reporters than this....
  19. But on the other hand, Joe DID say that he was going to find a woman of color to be his VP... he wasn't sure who, but the VP was definitely going to be a woman of color. So you can't then come back and say "look our first woman (of color) to be elected VP" when she was, in fact, chosen because of her gender/skin color. You can't have it both ways. [Hidden Content] Saying that is just a racist as saying "I'm going to pick a white dude to be my running mate." Just because it's a "win" for your team doesn't make it any less wrong.
  20. You're not wrong. I think it's little misleading to point out her accomplishments as a women, but refuse to recognize that she DID, in fact, sleep her way up the ladder early on. It's a part of her history, just like Bill Clinton's misdeeds, GWB's misdeeds, Trump's or anybody else's. But there is no reason to make personal attacks of the nature that your described. It's not respectful to the office that she holds.
  21. It's comical to me.... "we won a majority... it's our way or the highway." Closely followed by "we're the minority... but it's our way or the highway." The gov/lt. gov/speaker should HAMMER those D Districts with the purse.
  22. Does anybody have the rest of the list? Say from 81-96?
  23. So your argument is that that he better person got the sideline reporter job, but the wrong people keep getting the coaching gigs? Give me a break. You're all about a diversity until it doesn't suit you. Then you're all about a meritocracy (you can look it up) until it doesn't suit you. You would curse MLK today for saying: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
