Guilty on all three counts.... Don't let your kids become cops, lol.
-
Probably. I just didn’t think I they’d agree on a charge.
-
News says that the verdict will be read at 3:30 this afternoon. That's very interesting because I didn't think we'd see a unanimous verdict, much less a unanimous verdict this quickly. My gut instinct is that even if the jury feels that Chauvin is responsible for Floyd's death, they wouldn't be able to agree on which charge this quickly. It makes me think acquittal, but what do I know? Anybody else have any thoughts pre-announcement?

I watched a decent breakdown of the charges the other day.... It went something like: First, the prosecution has to prove that Chauvin's actions directly led to Mr. Floyd's death. I'm not sure that's been proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Then you get to the charges: 1. 2nd Degree Murder.... Chauvin would have had to unintentionally killed Floyd during the commission of another felony. There is no other felony.... he was using a restraint approved by his own department to restrain Floyd. 2. 3rd Degree Murder.... Chauvin would have to have act depraved indifference to others.... Think about somebody selling tainted drugs, dropping bricks off a bridge into traffic... no specific victim, but the suspect would have to have know his actions could harm others. Except in this instance, the victim was actually well known, and there's no indication that Chauvin or anybody else would have suspected that simply restraining Floyd would have led to his death. 3. 2nd Degree Manslaughter.... Would indicate gross negligence on Chauvin's part... but gross negligence doesn't exist unless Chauvin should have KNOWN that his behavior could lead to Floyd's death.... except nobody really believes that holding somebody down using a department approved restraint would lead to someone else's death. Literally.... thousands and thousands of people have been successfully restrained using this technique for years without injury... except this time the victim died and it was captured on video. The media isn't talking about it, either, but the defense played videotape of Floyd being arrested in 2019, and during that arrest Floyd ingested the drugs that he was holding. It creates a strong suspicion about whether or not he may have done something similar in 2020. I don't know what will happen. Since you have to have a unanimous verdict to convict or acquit, I suspect that we'll see a mistrial in a week or so. The more time passes, the less chance I think we'll see of having a verdict of either sort.

I’ve been vocal about feeling that Trump was partially responsible for inciting the riot at the Capitol back in January. What Maxine Waters is doing here is wrong, too, and it has nothing to do with her race. The media should report anc condemn this behavior regardless of the party affiliation of the speaker.

I can readily admit that system racism exists.... and it amounts for about 3% of the the problems facing African Americans today. Much like "Black Lives Matter" applies to the half dozen or so unarmed black men killed by police each year while ignoring the 7500 that are killed by other black people. People are so dumb.

It’s just idiotic. If you’re in a car and think about fleeing, it’s like “get arrested or run... worst case scenario I get arrested if they catch me, right?” Except instead you catch a felony for fleeing and even worse if somebody gets hurt. The same mindset comes along with resisting. “Maybe I get away, but I was going to jail anyways. What do I have to lose.” There are cops that deserve to be punched... but understand that the consequences that come from fighting don’t just end with getting arrested. You might get your butt whipped. You might get in serious trouble if you actually injure the cop. Heck, he or she might shoot you, accidentally or not. There’s a mindset that goes “sure, I was breaking the law, but that cop wasn’t supposed to x,y, or z me... I know the rules.” Don’t put your life in somebody else’s hands by depending on their good judgement to save your life. It’s just dumb.

Yes, but that's not based solely on race.

First off, I can't "right" a wrong (that wasn't done by me) by paying somebody who wasn't the wronged party. I literally saw President Obama in an interview a few weeks ago saying that payments to black people (regardless of whether their ancestors were slaves, or if the person in 2021 moved here from wherever two years ago) were absolutely necessary. [Hidden Content] The last article that I read indicated that the plan will be to use "refundable tax credits" to straighten out the inequities caused by generations' worth of bad decisions.... pardon me, I meant to say "oppression." In short, black people won't pay taxes, but rather white people will, and a portion of that tax bill will be gifted to black people because of the color of their skin under the guise of "righting a wrong." And that's when the troubles will start for real, I believe. There are some people who have forgotten that we aren't descended from fearful men, and I think they're going to figure that out the hard way.

CODY MCGUIRE NAMED NEW HEAD COACH/AD AT BRIDGE CITY

I wish. I know that he has (or had) some family in town. -
I'm in my late 40s and I'd dare say most (if not all) of the AAs that I know from my age group and older would find this article preposterous... because it is. The scary thing is that YOU would probably be surprised to find how many young people have been indoctrinated to believe this nonsense. That's not a knock on the black community, it's a knock on the liberal/progressive leadership and the fact that the black community blindly follows their lead. Do black people accept that they aren't smart enough to get an ID? Because the left keeps arguing that asking someone to produce an ID is racist because black people aren't capable of doing so. The same thing is being argued in this article.... If a black person kills an Asian, it's white peoples' fault, and young black people are being taught as such.
-
You're so lost that it's not even worth explaining.
-
My guess is that you didn't even bother to read the article. Like I said, no matter what, it's whitey's fault. If a Trump supporter punched somebody, it's Trump's fault. If an Antifa supporter punched somebody, that was Trump's fault, too. The article literally states that whenever racial violence occurs, even if a white person isn't involved, white supremacy is still the problem. The fact is that black people are literally beating the crap out of Asians all across the country, but the news media doesn't even have big enough balls to correctly identify the attackers as black, because they say it doesn't matter... it's still the fault of white people.

The problem is with the packaging. The third round of stimulus (the "$1400 stimulus checks) were almost uniformly welcomed by Americans. Who cares that barely 9% of the money went to actual Covid relief.... the people wanted those $1400 checks. My guess is that the 2 Trillion dollar "infrastructure" plan will also have very little to do with "infrastructure" and a whole lot more to do with transgender reassignments, reparations, fighting "systemic racism," inequities in wealth, and "white privilege" than it has to do with rebuilding crumbling roads and bridges. But there will be nugget or two of goodwill devoted to the masses and the result will be another huge piece of legislation that barely squeaks by congress only by using budget reconciliation to the delight of the ignorant masses.

[Hidden Content] When black people attack Asians, it's whitey's fault then, too. Just like when black people kill other black people.... it's whitey's fault. The mindset is just..... unbelievable.

Can't argue with you.... He did cut taxes which spurred growth, but never came through with any spending cuts. But it's not just him... "Conservatives" have been doing that to us for years. It all changed after the Clinton years, when Newt Gingrich worked with Bill Clinton to provide the last deficit-free years that we've had. The modern way of thinking is that "we'll just borrow to spend whatever we want and just pay the interest. It's much cheaper this way than actually PAYING for things." Like borrowing 2 trillion for "Covid Relief" when 90% of the bill had nothing to do with the pandemic. But you can rest assured that every time the Covid bill was mentioned, all that the talking heads wanted to talk about was the "$1400 stimulus checks." Who doesn't want one of those, right? Now we're moving on to 4 trillion more for "infrastructure" and you can bet that precious little of that money will go towards our crumbling infrastructure. -

Ummmmm... I'm glad to see that the stock market is doing better than ever. It needs to be, because the price of everything is starting to increase. The OSB that I purchased for just under $8/sheet in Feb of 2020 is currently selling at Lowe's for $35. My understanding is that right now you can expect to spend 55% more on materials for a new home than you would have spent a year ago. Gas is up, groceries are up, etc..... The real question is whether or not these price increases are a reflection of supply and demand, or whether we're starting to see the surge of inflation that always comes with unbridled government spending.... "printing money" for those of you who don't have a business background. It doesn't matter if you get a stimulus check for a couple of thousand if it takes wheelbarrow load of cash to buy a loaf of bread. Just ask any Venezuelan. -

Nah.... not in my neighborhood. Curious question... do you think living in a high-crime area gave you the lax attitude towards criminal activities, or do people with your acceptance of thuggish behaviors cause high-crime areas? -
