I hear you... I mean, the system is what the system is. But you have to realize it's a little bit flawed at its core. The fifteen cents you paid in taxes on that Sprite doesn't compare to the amount paid on other items by other people. FOR INSTANCE, you have a ton of voters in PA who pay little to no ad valorem property taxes because they live in subsidized housing deciding which projects "we" want, when the refineries and high income voters will be the ones paying for those projects. Does that sound fair? That's why the mantra of the left has been that OTHER people need to pay "their fair share" when our share doesn't really exist.... I guess the question is "If I have no means of income, receive a gift from the Treasury in the form of EIC each spring instead of paying income taxes, and my housing literally is exempt from proerty taxation because it's a government-owned housing project, should buying a sprite with my EBT card and paying sales tax with other people's money give me a voice in how other people's tax dollars should be spent?" Like I said... the system is what it is, but you have to admit that it's flawed. I feel the same way about huge corporations like Amazon that have a $0 tax liability, but are currently in talks to buy the Washington Football Team in spite of the fact that the US taxpayers (through the USPS) lose money on every Amazon package that is delivered by the US Mule. The whole system is just stupid.

Here's a thought though... they long since outlawed "poll taxes" because they were keeping people from voting. I guess I still wonder how smart it is to have people who pay no taxes participate in the decision-making process with people who do, in fact, pay taxes. It's like being in the car with your wife and three kids out looking for food, but you keep getting out-voted by the kids in the back seat. Literally.

That's kinda where we are now in some states (like Texas) but other states will allow their residents to register and vote on the same day. This federal legislation is seeking to force all states to allow day-of-election registrations. All kidding aside, there ARE people who want to make if harder for people to vote because they think that they can predict which candidates will benefit from those "low information" votes. That's just as wrong as voter fraud, IMO. FWIW, they do a really crappy job of reviewing tax returns... two separate years we dealt with a non-custodial parent running down and claiming kids that lived with us... they got paid and we got our refund hung up for months until we provided all of the proof that the IRS was wanting. I guess the system did work eventually, but it sucked in the meantime.
-
In short, I don't know if there was widespread fraud. I know that there's no proof of it, and that's what we have to live with. I strongly believe that election integrity shouldn't be a political hatchet used to further either parties' chances of success or we're all in big trouble... and I'm not talking about a lost election, I'm talking about a new form of government because voting didn't work.
-
It needs to be secure. Everybody that has the right to vote should be allowed to vote. Once. Believe it or not, some people would prefer that low-information voters be excluded from voting. People that think that way exist and would like to see any barrier to keep the "great unwashed" from participating. On the other hand, there are people who are licking their chops at the thought of less oversight making ballot harvesting and voter fraud easier. Those people exist, too. You should be required to provide an ID if you want to vote. That's just commons sense. Anybody who argues otherwise is not being honest about whether they believe our elections should be secure. You should also be an American Citizen if you want to vote in our elections, IMO. It's nutty how we wanted to impeach the former president over "foreign interference" in our elections, but then fight for the rights of non-citizens to vote in our elections. It's just puzzling. The bigger problem is this... if peoples' right to vote is wasted because they weren't allowed to vote OR their vote was canceled by a fraudulent one, then our democracy will fail. That's just a fact. That's why it was so dangerous for Trump to allege fraud with no proof.

Of course. I expect to see a lot of employers continue to require workers to wear them. Most places can't afford an outbreak that would close the business for 10-14 days, and they could also find themselves being sued for transmissions that might have occurred between employees in the workplace.
-
I've worn one quite a bit, but I'm out and about a lot. I figured that I would have long since gotten sick, but I guess I haven't. I've worn mine mostly so that I don't infect anyone else, and also in hopes that I won't look like one of those old a-holes walking around with an angry look and MAGA hat, but no mask. I rank those guys right next to the ones that have their pants sagging below their butt cheeks.

Wrong again.... I voted for Trump. But I’m also reasonable enough to hold the right people accountable for the loss.
-
Trumps behavior is the reason he didn’t get re-elected. There’s no other reason than that.
-
So let me get this straight.... Trump acted like a tool and the fact that he didn’t get re-elected is that “snowflakes” wouldn’t vote for him? It’s like you’re saying that if a wife cheats on her husband, the reason that the marriage ended was because he got his feelings hurt. Makes perfect sense to me.
-
If decent people who were going to vote Trump had made it clear to him that they were not going to vote Trump if he kept being a jerk, he might have salvaged his campaign. But his supporters cheered louder every time he acted reprehensible and now we’re all screwed. It’s not snowflakes that sunk Trump... it’s his worshippers like the ones who stormed the Capitol.
-
Actually, nobody said that. But a lot of people said “I’m not voting for that prick” and Biden won by default.
-
“So what if he says some hateful things? Look at the economy!” Every single Nazi Party member in 1938.
-
No.... It’s not. Hitler did wonders to resurrect post WWI Germany economy and rebuild German pride... by the late 1930s he was revered by his followers-he could do no wrong in their eyes. Nowdays sane people realize that Hitler was a horrible leader. But you couldn’t convince his supporters of that in the late ‘30s. Your fanaticism is like that of a late 1930s Hitler supporter.
-
Hitler had plenty of supporters, too... and they were just as wrong as Trumpers are today.
-
Anyone that still excuses his actions.

The Israelites didn’t think they’d done anything wrong, either.

They. Made. A. Golden. Statue.

Isn’t it crazy how Trump worshippers don’t blame Trump’s bad behaviors for his loss, but instead blame those who weren’t willing to ignore his bad behaviors? Put blame where it belongs. If Trump “grabbed your wife/daughter by the p-word” you’d tell her that she’s just being a crybaby because Trump is doing such a good job as President. Trump was talking about you when he boasted that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in broad daylight and his supporters would still vote for him.

I know of a Pentecostal lady that honestly believes that Trump is the only thing that save us from ruin... that if we prayed hard enough, God would see fit to overturn the election and preserve the USA. This is a lady that has never cut her hair, wears a dress all of the time, and has probably never uttered a swear word. But she is willing to overlook the 8 abortions that Trump personally paid for, the swearing, the infidelities, grabbing 'em by the p-word, "One Corinthians," and on and on... because she believes that he was sent here by God. And there's a lot more like her.

Whatever Your Opinion Of Trump Is, This Is Hard To Disagree With!
CardinalBacker replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
Be careful.... you're using too much reason with these clowns. If you're willing to overlook all of Trump's moral and ethical flaws, he's palatable... but a lot of good people won't overlook things like that. Trump got 6 million more votes than he did 4 years ago... nothing to see here. Biden got 11 million more than Obama got four election cycles ago, and it's proof of fraud according to these fools. Just wait until they figure out that Obama got more votes than Ronald Reagan.
