[Serious] What Happened To The Normal Conservatives Here??
CardinalBacker replied to InMAGAWeTrust's topic in Political Forum
I've had family members, friends, and co-workers all reach that "expiration point" at which they just aren't what they used to be-physically or mentally. Even if you believe that the Joe Biden of the 90s-'15 was a skilled politician, he's just not the same dude. Reagan wasn't the same in '88 that he was in '80, either. We didn't just become the greatest civilization in history by accident... it's generation after generation of achievement that got us here. It's sad that the younger guys see the whole system as somehow flawed and a failure, without considering that this is without a doubt the greatest place on earth, past or present. You can spout off all that you want about how this generation developed the smartphone and internet... I kind of think that history won't look back on it as our crowning achievement. If you had a snapshot of the world in the 40s and see where we are now, we got a whole lot of things right. My grandfather was born in 1903 and could remember the first time he ever saw an automobile. In his lifetime he watched space shuttles launched and landed, satellite tv, and a baseball game in the airconditioned astrodome. All we can say about this generation is that they've developed a means to blast their opinions an ideas at each other, and it's probably going to lead to the end of our civilization based on the events of the last few years. -

Well, it’s hard to say exactly when somebody’s abilities will start to decline... that’s a fact and facts don’t care about labels like “ageism.” Texas won’t allow a judge to run for office after their 72nd birthday. That should probably be about the same for the Presidency, don’t you think? -

I'm no doctor, but he's definitely got diminished capabilities at this point. Not being partisan, just giving my opinion. I've seen it with my parents, grandparents, and co-workers. At some point most of us start to slide, and I'm convinced that Biden isn't as sharp as he was a few years back. No shame in it, but time is a cruel B. -
That's a very good point.

I’m trying... it’s tough because I’m so conservative, and that flies in the face of pretty much every social and financial stance that is taken by the left. I’m in favor of smaller government, the second amendment, less regulation, Christian values, lower taxes, etc... Immigration reform. I can get behind that. It needs to be easier to gain your citizenship. We can’t “send them all home.” I’m not opposed to decriminalizing marijuana, either.

But it has to be balanced. The Bible also teaches us "for even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat" in @ Thessalonians 3:10. That totally flies in the face of the doctrine on the left that it's your right as an American to be provided with food, shelter, college education, a smart phone, healthcare and spending money. There are a lot of people who can't do for themselves.... but there are many, many more who chose NOT to do for themselves.... and it's no secret that most of them vote "D" because of the well-intentioned but misguided principles on the left. I hear people complaining all of the time.... "if a kid goes to school and can't afford lunch, they feed him/her a ham sandwich! Can you believe it? A HAM SANDWICH!!!" For the record, if I'm paying for my kids lunch he/she deserves to eat better. This whole "equality" horse crap should have been nipped in the bud a long time ago. Nobody owes you anything. Period. And if you have to eat a ham sandwich while my kid is eating something better... that's how it works in real life, and it's a lesson that you learned at an early age. I've said for a long time that if people heard their kids crying because they were hungry, there wouldn't be nearly as many kids living in poverty. We've made it too easy to suck on the teat. People don't believe in getting a better job and moving up the ladder... they believe in yelling until they get a bump in their foodstamps. That's focusing solely on one issue, but it's the same across the board. We've all heard about the ants and grasshoppers getting ready for winter. For some crazy reason, the Ds stopped examining things like work ethic and sound decision making and instead want to look solely at results based on skin color. If you are raised in a single parent household, your odds of being poor are very, very high. We also know that the rates of black kids born out of wedlock is astounding compared to other races.... but the left refuses to acknowledge the correlation and instead blame "systemic racism" and "oppression" for the plight of young black kids being raised by single moms (or grandmothers). Trust me.... white folks didn't coin the terms "baby mama" and "baby daddy," but the Ds won't acknowledge the correlations.

All kinds of stuff. 1. People migrating to California from around the US 2. People migrating to California from abroad. 3. Temperate Climate 4. People leaving CA to relocate throughout the US 5. Higher taxes drove people to leave 6. Intrusive Regulation pushed people to move elsewhere 7. High Crime pushed people who could leave to do so. 8. High real estate costs forced others to leave But I'm sure you're going to blame it all on Mexican Immigrants. -

It's the same thing you see on TexAgs.... the Trump honks scream and yell and anybody that doesn't subscribe to THEIR ideology is a snowflake, a Rino, a libtard, etc... I'm one of the most conservative people that exists, socially and financially. But since I won't chime in on "the election was stolen," I'm a lib. They haven't figured out that they won't ever win another election for anything without the moderates that they despise. As much as Trump drove people to vote Biden, you'd better believe that old white dudes with MAGA hats and Trump flags drove a lot of Biden voters to the polls, too. And how'd that work out for you, Red Kingdom? Lol. -
First, to take another whack at Trump for the benefit of your voters that hate him. Secondly, any congressman who didn’t vote to impeach or convict can now be painted as supportive of the actions that day in Washington. True or not, it paints Rs into a corner. That’s why McConnell took his swipe after the vote... “I voted against impeachment because it is unconstitutional... but he did it” more or less. I’m not too concerned because the people who voted for Biden because they were tired of Trump’s hateful mess will be just as turned off if Ds continue to beat that dead horse. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens from here. My guess is some type of action under the 14th to stop him from running again OR prosecution for his phone call in Georgia on 1/2/21. The Ds should be doing everything in their power to make sure he IS eligible to run again in 24 so that Ds can win again. Some people are too spiteful for their own good.
-
Lol.... There was never any doubt that he wasn’t going to be convicted. The republicans know that they will lose the support of the uneducated Trump voters like yourself. But he is the only President that has been impeached twice, and he got his cheeks clapped by Biden, so I guess NOT getting convicted when 57% of the Senate voted to convict Trump is vindication in his supporters’ eyes. #youcantfixstupid

You DO understand that population growth has nothing to do with the percentage of people that tuned in, right? There were millions more watching in 2021 than in 1969, Genius.... just the lowest percentage of viewers tuned in.
-
I dunno... I've got a LOT of friends who won't watch anymore because of the social justice protests. The NFL lost a bunch of diehard fans, and I don't think the soy-boys are deciding to tune in and replace the eyes lost. But make no mistake... there are a lot of hardheads that gave up on the NFL, NBA, MLB, and even Nascar.

Don't you dare speak about our 51st state that way!!!!

Trump criticism and Biden support explained
CardinalBacker replied to LumRaiderFan's topic in Political Forum
If you don't like it, you've got nobody to blame but Trump himself. He's the one that turned a R majority in the House, Senate, and Presidency into the Dems holding all of the cards. It took Obama 8 years to accomplish what Trump did in four, lol. -
Trump criticism and Biden support explained
CardinalBacker replied to LumRaiderFan's topic in Political Forum
I know that you don't understand simple concepts, but the last time Obama ran (2012) there were 235,248,000 Americans of voting age. In 2020 there were 257,605,000 Americans of voting age. The fact that you keep getting hung up on vote totals comparing 2012 numbers to 2020 numbers as some "proof" of fraud is mind-blowing. But you never question the fact that Trump got 6 million more in 2020 than in 2016. Or are you saying that the fact that Trump got MORE votes with lower poll numbers proves that republicans were trying to steal the election? [Hidden Content] Go to college. Study business. In your last year or two you'll need two semesters of "statistics." If you pay attention you might stop asking stupid questions. -
I think that the problem is this.... It's the old argument about having free speech, but you can't yell "fire" in a movie theater and then say, "well, I never TOLD anybody to trample anybody else." When you tell a group of people to "go down there and fight like they've never fought before or they won't have a country to fight for" and they do exactly that.... you've got a problem. But it's okay... I know that our opinions on the subject differ.
-
When a football coach tells his team to go out there and fight, it's just figurative speech. Just like when Buddy Stephens says to "get out there and shove that football up somebody's nose"... He really doesn't want them to try and insert said pigskin into anybody's nasal passage. But Buddy is doing his part to get them motivated to get out there and perform, hopefully winning a football game. And if a coach turns around and says, "shoot, I never expected those guys to actually go out there and PLAY football" after drawing up a game plan, scheduling a game, arranging bus transport, giving the pep talk and standing on the sidelines while the game goes on.... he'd be a liar. The game (in this case, riotous insurrection) would have never happened without the coach's personal involvement.
-
Well, for starters, I don’t recall Harris planning a big rally and publicly encouraging attendees to leave the rally and go fight... which is exactly what happened next. Secondly, last summer NOBODY encouraged their supporters to go halt the peaceful transfer of power that is the key to our democracy like Trump did. Those are two huge differences that you are incapable of recognizing.

I think that this impeachment is misguided politically... it serves no real purpose. I expect the Senate to fail to convict him, then we'll see both chambers push through some type of action under Sec 3 of the 14th Amendment that would prohibit him from ever running again. I saw today where Fulton County has opened an investigation into his phone call from 1/2/21.... I also wouldn't be very surprised to see Trump prosecuted criminally in DC for his actions on 1/6. I suspect that Chief Justice Roberts abstained from presiding because he knows that the SC will end up hearing arguments over constitutionality of a former president being impeached if a conviction occurs. The sad thing about it is that Trump has brought all of this down upon himself because of his actions between 1/2 and 1/6. He was so far out of line that it's not even funny. That phone call could legitimately land him in prison. I doubt it does, but he's going to spend a fortune defending his actions... which were wrong, btw.

You bring up a good point. I'm guilty of that myself. Racism is defined as the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another... and I honestly don't know many people of any shade who feel that way. My opinion is that racism is much, much less apparent now than in recent times.... but racial animosity is reaching levels that we haven't seen in a long time. Barriers people faced because of their skin color are just not what they were years ago. It's to the point that we have to try to find "implied" or "systemic" racism to point out because the good old fashioned variety is long gone. We point at rates of incarceration or lack of home ownership as somehow indicative of racism, when they are in fact much better indicators of criminal behavior and bad decision making. Both sides need to realize that they're being played against each other for political gain. And you're right... the rates of single parent households are going up on my side, too. That's probably what bugged me the most about the unrest over this past summer. So much of our nation rose up and demanded to do something about... but not about the real problem(s). It's not politically correct to talk about the senseless loss of 4-5000 young black lives each year, but we focus on the dozen or less annually that are killed by the hand of police and demand change. Our world is just mixed up. You have people that say the N-word all of the time, but feel as if others should be punished for saying it. It doesn't get any more hypocritical than that. If it's offensive, then it's offensive. Don't give me that "term of endearment" BS because every video of a black on black fight has that slur sprinkled throughout it-and their actions don't seem very endearing. If black people were bothered by that word, they'd stop saying it. Period. I refuse to pretend that the emperor has clothes.

I, too, have friends who have taught their kids that all whites are racist, even if they don't realize it. They use terms like "white privilege" to explain away their own failures as parents, ministers, teachers, leaders, and community voices. They also teach their kids that because bad things happened here decades ago, the entire country today is rotten and must be destroyed. They tell them that all of life's problems are the result of "racism" and "oppression," but never discuss personal accountability for one's own actions. That sort of indoctrination does not disappear in a generation or two. And sadly, that intention is not prevalent among the leftists in this country. Actually, history can be argued... things are open to interpretation and should be discussed, but the left thinks that their beliefs should be treated as history or as facts when they are nothing more opinions.

18 U.S. Code § 2102.Definitions (a) As used in this chapter, the term “riot” means a public disturbance involving (1) an act or acts of violence by one or more persons part of an assemblage of three or more persons, which act or acts shall constitute a clear and present danger of, or shall result in, damage or injury to the property of any other person or to the person of any other individual or (2) a threat or threats of the commission of an act or acts of violence by one or more persons part of an assemblage of three or more persons having, individually or collectively, the ability of immediate execution of such threat or threats, where the performance of the threatened act or acts of violence would constitute a clear and present danger of, or would result in, damage or injury to the property of any other person or to the person of any other individual. (b) As used in this chapter, the term “to incite a riot”, or “to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot”, includes, but is not limited to, urging or instigating other persons to riot, but shall not be deemed to mean the mere oral or written (1) advocacy of ideas or (2) expression of belief, not involving advocacy of any act or acts of violence or assertion of the rightness of, or the right to commit, any such act or acts. (Added Pub. L. 90–284, title I, § 104(a), Apr. 11, 1968, 82 Stat. 76.) That's pretty straight forward stuff. (a.) Was there a riot? Yes. (b.) Did Trump organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot? Ummmmm.... I do believe he organized his rally, encouraged his supporters to go down there and fight like hell, and claimed he'd be right there participating with them. It's kind of like this... Did he know how far his supporters would take things? No. But did he send them down there to raise hell? Absolutely. That's textbook incitement.... at least in my opinion.
-
That's the thing... it should be hashed out in a trial, but the evidence won't matter, it's going to go along party lines. Ds will vote to convict whether they believe he actually incited the riot, and Rs will vote to acquit regardless of the facts presented. I think if he's tried federally on criminal charges we might see some sort of clearer indication of where culpability lies. My OPINION is that his actions did lead to what eventually happened. Back in 2000 I felt the same way about the endless recounts-like they'd lead to bigger problems. I'd been saying for a couple of months that if Trump didn't let go of his assertions, people would die, and that's exactly what happened. The real question for me is whether or not the trio of Rudy, Jr, and the Don encouraged people to go down and do what was done. I lean more towards his words encouraged/excited... but that's just me.
