Just for the record- Jasper’s 86 team is closer in age to our championship team of ‘66 (20 years) than they are to the 2020 Dawgs (34 years).

Negative, Ghost Rider..... Jasper would have found a way to choke. There's big difference between the BIg Dogs like Newton, WOS, and Bridge City.... all of whom are state champions, and Jasper.

All I know is that Silsbee got screwed again.

You know, I've got an aunt that's my Dad's age that survived polio... barely. Pretty much crippled and mostly uneducated because nobody thought she would live long. Vaccines do work. My mom remembers going down and getting the polio vaccine on sugar cubes and the lines were tremendous, according to her. Everybody wanted to get their kids vaccinated. I didn't grow up in a world inhabited by anti-vaxxers who never experienced a world without vaccines, so I'm probably not as concerned as you are. Vaccines don't cause autism, btw, lol.

I agree with this completely. Anybody that thinks the program over that hasn't been tattooed/stamped by Hooks/Thompson and the community as a whole is kidding themselves. I don't know how you get somebody from outside and not lose something. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Are there any coordinators or coaches in house over there that seem able to make that step up and continue the ways over there?
-
Just did... that was nasty. Lol.

I'm a big fan of the fake spike, too. I've heard Peyton Manning say that the only guy who knew it was gonna be a fake would be himself and the targeted receiver. Even the line would think the ball was being spiked so that they wouldn't tip their hands.

The play action pass. It's not even a trick play anymore, though, I guess.

[Hidden Content] Great minds think alike, I guess..

I honestly considered taking it early if it would possibly help the greater good. I've got good insurance, my work is flexible, and I'm healthy. If taking it would help to slow the spread and make it safer to be around my parents (who I have only seen a few times since this all started), then I'd probably do it. Now that I've read a little about the rollout plan (first responders, medical staff, nursing home patients, then essential workers, then gen pop, I think that it won't really matter by the time I get the opportunity. I'm not worried so much about whether or not I get sick, but whether taking it will keep me from spreading it.

People excused racism on religious grounds for centuries. Wishing that a coach of any particular color be hired is racist, no matter what excuse you want to hide behind “Culturally” or otherwise. YOU chose to interject race into a discussion about WOS’s eventual next coach. You are not the first, and I doubt you will be the last. What you all have in common is that are no different than those that sought to keep schools segregated, prevent minority hires and otherwise discriminate along racial lines. Because discriminating is exactly what you are doing when you say that you are going to choose a candidate based on race. Whether you’re saying “we won’t be hiring any black coaches around here” or you say “we’re going to hire a black coach next time,” both views are racist.

JasperDawg goes into hiding when the dogs' season ends. And he's probably still got me on "ignore." But we all know he still reads my stuff.
-
It's good to hear the back story... I just expected that we'd all be talking about how good the O-line is, and it never seemed to materialize... in fact, kind of the opposite according to the posters here.
-
“Scait” ain’t in my vocabulary, either.
-
You should see the stuff he sends me in PMs.
-
Right? They would have missed all of the offseason last year (after spring break) because of the pandemic. Besides that, we all know that success in 8th grade doesn't equate to success at the varsity level.
-
I'd heard that this year's freshman class was chock full o' big boys.... There was talk that some of them might see some playing time on V because Silsbee was otherwise so short of lineman. Or at least that one of the moms was telling me, lol.
-
That's funny... you post something bigoted ("we need a black coach next time") but i'm the one with the problem... Did you notice that nobody else was dumb enough to openly support your point of view? That should be your clue, sir.

I know that as white people we’re all inherently racist (lol), but you never hear white people demanding that the nfl rosters be made to more effectively reflect the racial makeup of the nations. Crazy, huh? But time answer the question posed “why aren’t there more black coaches.... for starters, a coach typically has to have at least a bachelors degree from a liberal arts field. For the sake of argument we’ll just talk about men, not women for the purpose of this conversation. More white men go to college than do black men. More white men finish college than do black men. White people get more liberal arts degrees (education, history, mathematics). For every black candidate, there are many, many, many more white applicants. That’s a supply issue. You can’t ignore all of the factors that go into this situation, then decry “institutional racism” as the reason that “equality” doesn’t exist. [Hidden Content] The language and explanations in this article are slanted in ways that I don’t agree with, not the data is interesting... especially the comparison of degrees attained by race (white vs black) a pretty good way down the page.

I guess what you’re saying is that if we move to West Orange, my kid should get to start no matter which position he chooses, because y’all don’t have enough white kids on the team? It doesn’t matter who gets benched, even your kid.. so long as CB Jr get to start? Some people are just dumb. Or racist. Possibly both.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think CT had been to Palestine as a HC and Tobey didn't have any HC experience... but I could be totally mistaken on that point... does anybody remember?
-
Anybody that thinks that a coach's skin color should be prioritized at hiring time is not thinking correctly... whether they think a coach should be white, black, purple, etc.... Not trying to stir the pot, but the evidence clearly indicates that WOS needs another white QB if they ever want to win state again. See how ignorant that sounds? I've been hearing that same racist mess out of WOS faithful for years now. It gets old. And everybody is too timid to call it what it is.... sickening. I was blown away when PAM picked their guy a couple of years ago.... seeing as to how they're the only team still standing, it makes me think that being colorblind come hiring time can actually work in a school's benefit. But not everybody sees things that way. I certainly hope that other openings in our area that are predominantly white have their options open at hiring time, too.

Actually, Jasper is like a remarkably average looking girl that you take out for dinner at the Cedar Tree and you realize that she can't hold a fork or a conversation. Then she mentions that her fee-yawn-say has been in jail since the Spring and that she's five weeks pregnant... but she's not worried about it... she can take care of herself. And all you want to do is skip dessert and drop her off at her bruncle's house and hope nobody noticed the two of you out on the town. I've given credit to Officer Barbrady and the Dawgs for renewing their matchup with Silsbee.... I also suspect that Jasper will (as always) have some good athletes rise to the occasion. I don't see Barbay making any substantial changes... Jasper is kinda like us in the fact that they aren't a qb factory.... I don't know how you can cultivate state championship talent under center, so that leaves you completely reliant on a rb.... that will still work down in 3A D2 where Newton lives, but it doesn't fly against squads like y'all run into in 4A. It eventually catches up, if for no other reason than not being able to defend a passing attack because you just don't see one often enough. But the dawgs will finish near the top of District and hopefully make a round or two further than they did this year.

Ladybug's way of thinking will be the end of Mustang football.... It's all about putting the best team/coaching on the field. When you start skipping over qualifications to select based on skin color, sexual orientation, gender, etc,.... you lose something. According to Ladybug, the Lakers would be better if they started two white guys, Lebron, an Asian, a Gay Mexican, and had a female coach.... because our diversity is our strength. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. If somebody was to say "they need to hire a white dude at Beaumont United... they've only had black up until now... it's OUR time" they'd be branded as a racist... and that would be a correct assessment.

I’m still surprised that your numbers aren’t up with all of the recent success. Also disappointed that the SIL o-line isn’t a consistent powerhouse. I thought that was Coach Smith’s bread and butter. Hooefully it was just a rebuilding issue this year.
