What makes you say that Nederland has no talent? They’re beating y’all, aren’t they?

How are the Dawgs gonna beat Carthage in a rematch if they lose to China Grove?

Ummmm... both parties will unite to snuff out any chances of the third party making up any ground.

Lol. While I appreciate your short-sighted point of view, here’s the problem. Immigration isn’t going to stop. I’ve heard about immigration reform since I was kid, but it has never happened... news flash... it’s probably not going to happen. Therefore, you can be the party that welcomes immigrants and secures their votes for generations, or you can be the “build the wall” party that accuses immigrants of being “rapists and murderers” and alienate those voters for generations to come and dooming themselves to losing every single general election for decades. Which do you choose?

First off, I was wrong. [Hidden Content] But court ruling in 2019 seemed to expand the rights (or at least protections) for immigrants. Basically stating that the state has to prove that the alien knew that they were breaking the law. [Hidden Content] But you are mistaken. I know literally hundreds of kids.... none of which are currently working or even remotely interested in working in any of those crafts. You don’t know of a single white person that’s a roofer, drywall man, concrete finisher, crop picker, carpenter, carpet installer, etc.... and it’s not because anybody is beating them out of those jobs. They just won’t do it. My argument is not whether willingness to perform those tasks should equate to a right to citizenship. Instead, I’m pointing out that our economy would literally collapse within two weeks without their help. No homes built, no roads constructed, no one to wash dishes at your favorite restaurant. Anybody who claims otherwise is just lying to themselves.
-
I hear what you’re saying. But your opinion isn’t specified anywhere. If Congress wants to pass a law stating that it’s a crime for illegals to possess a firearm, that’s okay... but my guess is that the NRA will fight that as they would any attack on the 2nd amendment. Some people don’t like immigrants, and arguments about illegal immigration give them a chance to speak out loudly.

Four things need to happen simultaneously. 1. The border secured. We can’t fit 7 billion people inside our borders and give them all free healthcare, college education, food, housing and a smartphone -no matter who they vote for. 2. A path to citizenship (with quotas, if necessary) 3. Punishment for anyone employing an illegal. This should have happened a long time ago. 4. Progressive access to benefits. You shouldn’t be directed towards benefits upon arrival. Supposedly in CA you are directed to sign up for food stamps, EBT, smart phones, housing, and registered to vote once you get here. How true that is, I don’t know. There should be no social services given to anyone here illegally IF there is a reasonable path to citizenship available. Most importantly, conservatives and republicans need to stop demonizing illegal immigrants. I don’t know of a single white or black kid willing to work as a carpenter, roofer, mason, laborer, body man, farm worker, concrete finisher, etc.... we need people willing to do those jobs, just like we always have. Republicans have the opportunity to win some of that Hispanic vote, not by changing basic principals (conservatism, faith, family, hard work), but by shutting up the xenophobes like y’all.
-
That's the problem... people who come here to work pouring concreted can't afford (in time or money) the process to citizenship.
-
That's weird... I don't remember reading that anywhere. That's good to know. All of this time I never realized that illegal immigrants don't have 1. The right to free speech 2. The right to keep and bear arms 3. No quartering of soldiers 4. Freedom from unreasonable search and seizures 5. The right to due process of law, freedom from self-incrimination, double jeopardy. 6. The right to a speedy trial 7. Right to a trial by jury 8. Freedom from excessive bail, cruel and unusual punishments. According to you, immigrants could be punished for speaking out against the government, searched without warrants, no rights of due process, no right to a trial, and tortured if authorities so desire.
-
There's no decision to be made.... it was already given in the Bill of Rights. You can quibble over what is meant by the word "people" in the phrase "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.'" Most illegal immigrants are here doing work that American Citizens won't do, for menial wages. That community is the least likely to contact law enforcement when victimized, and therefore one of the most vulnerable to criminals. Conservatives and Republicans need to stop demonizing the immigrant population and figure out how to get them to vote Republican. There's no reason why a God-fearing, hard-working, law-abiding, family-loving, financially conservative group of people should be voting Democrat, other than the fact that the Repubs don't want their votes.

Assuming Trump wins GA and NC (which I believe he will), then assuming that he holds onto his lead in PA (which I'm not so sure that he will), he'll still need to win one of: MI, WI, or NV.... and he's behind in all three of those. Unless something dramatic happens in NI, WI, or NV, he's not gonna get to 270. Here are my takeaways from the election. 1. The Pollsters got it all wrong again. We need to stop paying attention to polling data, or at least stop emphasizing it. 2. The Senate will stay Red, and we actually gained a half dozen or so House seats... that goes a long ways towards dispelling the belief that Conservatism is finished. 3. Because the Senate will remain R controlled, there will be no packing of the Supreme Court, Green New Deal, or any other sweeping partisan legislation (Like the ACA)... this is a good thing. 4. Trump carried more votes in South Florida (Miami Dade) in 2020 than he did in 2016. I believe that this is a result of immigrant communities from Venezuela and Cuba strongly denouncing the Socialist platforms so beloved by liberals today. 5. Even poorer Hispanics in South Texas voted more heavily for Trump in 2020. I think it's a result of the Democratic push to convince us all that BLM.. in fact, they're the only ones that matter. If you're poor and black, it's systemic racism. If your poor and brown, they don't give a darn. You'll also find that most poor Hispanic communities value hard work, personal accountability, family, religion, and conservative personal finances... every single one of which is frowned upon by the Democratic party. I think the opportunity for Repubs to make inroads with Hispanic voters is now.... especially without a rich dude yelling "build the wall" and "they're just a bunch of rapists." 6. Senators across the county outperformed Trump. Cornyn here in Texas is an example. He's a nobody, with all of the charisma of a lamp. But he actually got a higher percentage of votes than Trump. So much of this election was a personal rejection of Trump, nothing more. There are two things that a candidate needs to do; Make it hard to vote for the other guy (which Trump kinda did). Make it easy to vote for you (at which Trump failed miserably).

Well, I was wrong. Trump did way better than I anticipated. I liked his odds a lot better about 2am, but it's still so close.
-
I wouldn't say that. But we should be competitive year in and year out. We have enough athletes to rack up 27 or however many DCs in baseball, but can't even make the playoffs as one of the biggest schools in our classification. It's pathetic. We've had three years in this new program and our odds have only improved thanks to realignment. And we're doing worse than ever.
-
You've got us mistaken. When they split out D1 And D2 we were competitive in D1 initially. (2015 & 2016). When Silsbee dropped down (2018) to D2 suddenly WOS couldn't get out of Region anymore. We were still stinking it up in D1. Our drop to D2 should have been a smashing success, as we're one of the biggest schools in D2. If you take into account that there ARE two powerhouses (WOS and Silsbee) down there, you'd have to demand that we finish no worse than third in District, and hopefully be at least competitive with WOS and/or Silsbee. You know, at least make it interesting. We got shut out by OF. Orangefield. Our rival, who we have been talking garbage about for years. We're too big, and with too many athletes in the halls, to be getting beat like this. Can anybody name a school other than BC with a State Championship history that sucks as bad as we do right now? It's a complete failure of leadership from Administration on down.

Hey! It’s good to see you. I held my nose and voted Trump. States that have me worried? Pretty much every single swing state and some that usually aren’t in play. If the polls play out, Biden wins big. If the polls are wrong, pollsters will have to go get real jobs. I don’t see any big court fights if it goes big to Biden. You might see some issues in a swing state if it’s close, but I think Trump concedes tonight. If the man can file bankruptcies five different times, he knows when to walk away. I expect the real story to be the Repubs who don’t support him. That’s the reason that his fundraising is so much worse this time around. If I’m wrong (I hope so) and Trump somehow pulls this out, I think we’ll see widespread violence in metro areas... I also expect violence in those same areas of Biden wins, but in celebration... but not as much. My fear is that we’ll see delayed violence from the right (like McVeigh in OKC ‘95) after a Biden win. Not supported by the right, but perpetrated by loonies on the right. God Bless America.

My expectations for the team/season had us finishing 3rd behind WOS and Silsbee. To miss the playoffs in this format after dropping down a division is just not acceptable. To most schools/towns, anyways. I look for nothing to change at BC. It’s embarrassing. In a perfect world, the Super would be out, too.

I think the Cards will make it interesting. And by interesting, I mean like watching a pack of hyenas eat a gazelle that can’t run. Or see.

Yeah... I’ve taken a little break from the boards. Trying to be productive in the real world. I just think the deck is stacked too high for Trump to get re-elected. Probably doesn’t have anything to do with cheating that I can tell. People just aren’t happy right now. -
