If I decided to whole-heartedly support BLM and protest by wearing black face and calling all of my POC friends the n-word (the “a”, not “er”), how would my protest be received? Race relations are much, much worse today than they were when Kap started his protest. Or do you think that we’re all getting along better than we were?

The government needs to go Antifa and BLM just like they did the Klan. Basically sue them for all of the damage caused during protests that they organized and participated in. Take judgments and seize whatever donations that have come in. It’s 2020... there’s no need to shoot ‘em. On a plus note, the guy that was the unofficial leader of “CHAZ/CHOP” had a problem this weekend. His name is Raz Simone and he apparently owns a property that he leases out thru AirBNB. Stephen Crowder is a conservative blogger and he rented Chaz’s home for the weekend thru the app. They then posted signs that read “BLM” and “F____12” all over the CHAZ leader’s house. Basically did HIS house the way he’s done downtown Seattle. They also passed out a ton of fliers around CHAZ promoting a big party but they ended up having to flee the premises because the story got back to Raz.... Apparently HE isn’t such a big fan of “peaceful protest” when it’s his own stuff getting destroyed. Dead silence by the media, btw.

A couple of weeks ago I thought we would get to play this year. Today I don’t think it will happen, period. Two-a-days ate supposed to start in a month and I expect that today’s restrictions will be cranked down even further in the next week or so if this rate of infection keeps climbing.... and my guess is that IF we all get serious about social distancing and staying home today, we’re still close to two weeks away from today’s actions yielding results. I would be surprised if school does starts back up in two months if this thing doesn’t dramatically slow back down.

Racism in America is all about perceived slights and imagined offenses. You can’t identify actual instances of white on black racism anymore, so we have to protest “systemic” (another word for “we just can’t prove it) racism, privilege, micro-aggressions, and dog-whistle racism. If you live in crappy section 8 housing, that’s racism. It’s not that you’re four generations deep of single moms and absent dads. It’s whitey. It’s not that you’d rather pop out kids for bigger benefit checks.... it’s racism. If you never scrape up the closing costs and take advantage of the multitude of programs for first time buyers because you’d rather live in a rent-subsidized apartment... racism. If you catch a couple of felonies, get some neck tats, quit high school, and then Valero won’t hire you..... absolutely racism. If you are born poor in America, live poor, and die broke... you don’t make good decisions. That’s a fact. My standard of living is a result of my hard work and solid decision making. I’ve never once sat around and wondered whose to blame for my lot in life.

White people who have never lived with black people go to college and learn about it. Why do I suspect that you grew up in a lily-white environment and needed a draft-dodging prof at your liberal arts college to tell you “how it really is.”

Nobody is “forcing” black people to live anywhere. That’s a just not true. I know that you won’t accept the FACT that black people commit more violent crime in America in the current day. You’d rather talk about white history and how it’s not a black person’s fault that they commit so many violent acts. I feel you, though... there are so many kids that are living that life through no fault of their own. But renaming a park and throwing up a basketball hoop isn’t going to fix anything. We’ve tried that. “Community Outreach” plans are a joke, too. You just end up with more directors who end up enriching themselves and then going to prison, ala Walter Diggles from Jasper. This aren’t problems that you can fix by throwing money at them. My voice doesn’t matter, Pamfam.... they need to hear it from people like you, man.

The problem is that statistics prove that blacks ARE the most violent ethnic group in America and you still can’t even admit that, can you? It’s not just the blacks committing violence, it’s also the rest like you who refuse to condemn it for what it is... your silence makes you complicit. As far as the handouts go, it’s not just a black thing. I don’t know of a soul of any color that turned down their stimulus check... whether they’d lost any money due to COVID or not. But I do believe that the black community has been hit worse as a group by relying on the social safety net as a means of survival. Benefit programs were never intended to provide a middle-class lifestyle. We need to teach young people (but especially young people in poverty) that the three things to do that will virtually guarantee a successful life are 1. Finish school 2. Stay out of trouble 3. Wait until you’re married to have kids That’s it. It’s that easy for most people. The problem is that those lifestyle choices are made by kids, but the choices affect them (and their kids) for the rest of their lives.

I always assumed that the “chain gang” tag was a play on words... but specifically dealt with the defense not allowing the offense to “move the chains.” You just seem to lose a little bit of the history that came with decades of defensive dominance by unit after unit over there. You just expected a tough, nasty bunch working as a unit. It’s a title that those kids earned and it was respected. Even whenever players over there got in trouble, you never heard people like me saying “well, what do you expect from the chain gang?” The name just never had that kind of connotation for us. It’s just sad to see young people offended by things that have never occurred in their lifetimes. It’s all fun and games until the mob comes after something you care about.

I’m gonna go out on a limb by myself and bet every dollar that I have and all I could borrow that the players aren’t the ones demanding the name change... Am I wrong?

As a proud member of BLM, I applaud the end of this racist moniker. I also feel like those championship banners also harken back to a time when racism was rampant throughout southeast Texas, and they should be removed as well. ALSO, the Mustang is the name of a type of horse ridden by indigenous people (Indians/Native Americans) prior to the racist white people stole their land and banished them to eternal poverty on reservations. This also is blatant dog-whistle racism. We, BLM, also strongly object to the use of this mascot as it is both offensive to our Indigenous Brothers and horses in general. Finally, we object to the colors Silver and Blue. These are the colors of the Dallas Cowboys, and an obvious tribute to these white men who massacred our Indigenous Brothers and even went as far as sexually mutilating male cattle. This is offensive to our LGTBQ community. As such, the colors must be removed as well.

Well... once all images of Christ are gone, they'll need to make sure that all income into the church is taxed, as well as the property itself will no longer be tax exempt. Also, the Bible is to be banished for it's hate towards gays... you won't be allowed to preach from the word. In fact, that building itself was built by untaxed tithes, so between that and the history of sexual violence committed by clergy, they'll now be seizing your "just a church" and turning it into a community center. Because that's only fair.

Right. It’s just people looking for things to be offended by. We took senior pics for the kids in Weiss Park under the Oaks a few years ago. I was less bothered by the statue than I was by the homeless hanging around openly smoking dope and the discarded needles on the ground. First things first, though, I guess.... gotta get that old statue out of there.

But y’all are okay with it. When over 7400 black people were murdered in 2018, and you riot over the 9 (nine) unarmed blacks killed by cops, then YES, you are okay with the other 7400+ that you didn’t get upset over. 14000 total people were killed that year, and 7400+were black. Over 50 percent of murder victims in the US that year were black, despite the fact that blacks make up 13% of the total population. And you don’t care. None of you do. You’re mad at the cops.
