Harris picks Tim Waltz as her running mate
CardinalBacker replied to Bobcat1's topic in Political Forum
Trump wasn’t lying when he said that he could shoot somebody in broad daylight on 5th Avenue (I think) and his followers would still vote for him. For once he told the truth as his followers have proven him right, voting for him no matter what evil deeds he does. But the flip side of that coin is that people who can’t stand trump will vote for anybody else (in this case Harris/Walz) and there’s no “news” that can be brought out that will change the mind of an “anybody but Trump” voter. Mean Tweets come at a price… Trump and his followers have overdrawn their proverbial account of good will with the American voters. Trump falls to 1-2 in presidential races in November. You heard it hear first. -
Hey, now!!!!

Trump agrees to debate Kamala Harris on Fox News
CardinalBacker replied to thetragichippy's topic in Political Forum
Here’s the thing… Trump didn’t have a great first debate…. He just looked great by comparison to Biden. Harris isn’t Biden. There’s a built in sympathy for her that comes built in with most people because she is female. I mean, misogynists won’t have a problem with Trump’s name-calling, racist taunts, questioning if she’s menstruating, etc… but most normal people are turned off my Trump’s act. She’ll come coached, ready, and able to point out the literal army of skeletons that Trump has in his wake. From corruption to mishandling of documents, the insurrection, the rape, his mishandling of the economy and the pandemic, to his hush money judgments…. She is going to call him out on the sins that his acolytes like yourself overlook. And he WILL implode, just like he did in the first debate off 2020. That’s if she even bothers to debate. I wouldn’t. She’s already whipping him soundly… why should she risk a bad debate? She doesn’t owe Trump or his followers anything. It’s comical to watch trump BEG her for a debate… especially considering how he refused to debate the Republican contenders this year. It’s deliciously funny to see you crying because she won’t debate, when 6 months ago he was refusing to debate. Like I keep saying. Karma’s in the kitchen cooking up something special for Trump and his followers. -
Who? We must not be watching the same entertainment.

How is he the better choice if he can’t win? There are plenty of conservatives that would do a better job than Trump…. Rs wanted Trump, though. So they’re gonna take completely foreseeable “L” in November. That word salad you threw out is just another way of saying “I’d rather lose with Trump than win.” and your wish is about to come true. If more patriots like myself stood up against MAGA, we wouldn’t be facing another 4 years of liberal dominance. This whole thing is your fault LumRaiderFan.

Don't blame America because she won... blame republicans for putting up a guy who's already proven he can't beat her.

I guess we’ll see who was right in a little over 90 days.

I understand that WOS has gone to "two-a-weeks"

[Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] I don't recall ever seeing a collapse this spectacular.... if it holds true or continues to worsen for Trump. Obviously just polling numbers, but it's alarming. I don't even hear Reagan talking about an electoral college landslide anymore. Her rallies are packed, if that's any indicator of support vs what Biden had. The sad things is that it could have been Rs romping and stomping if they'd have selected anybody but Trump in the primaries. Trump people are gonna vote Trump. Harris people are gonna vote Harris. Anybody else is saying "anybody but Trump is fine by me." "Quick! We need some mean tweets! NOW!!!!!!"
-
[Hidden Content] This could easily turn into a disaster.

No. One. Cares. "Is he Trump? Then I'll vote for him." It's just that simple.

If the “worst” beat the hell out of Trump, then i guess Trump is worse than worst? Is there such a thing? And Kamala is about to do it all over again. Trump 2028!!! Havent heard much bragging about donations to Trump in the last week or so…. Have they dried up?

Trump will be out of the public eye within the next four years. We all have an expiration date... a point at which we feel the heavy hand of time and begin to deteriorate. Joe Biden's was obviously a couple of years ago. My suspicion is that the weight of the legal challenges, combined with the blow of a consecutive failed presidential runs will be enough to send Trump into a rapid decline. Add to it the fact that Trump and his supporters have delighted in Biden's deterioration, and Sweet Mother Karma will have something additional for DJT, too. I'm not sure that I believe in the theories that you can already sense the deterioration in Trump's speech patterns, but I did notice that while he is still exceptionally quick to respond, his responses lack accuracy or specifics. It's going to be interesting to watch.

More voting fraud! Guess who?

False. Debunked back in 2021. [Hidden Content] Confirmation bias is dangerous. THERE WAS NO FRAUD. -

The easy answer is this. Four years ago Joe Biden stayed in his basement and let trump beat himself. It’s about to happen again. Trump is out acting like a racist, fighting other republicans, and just being the colossal bung hole that y’all love…. And driving people to the polls to vote for “anybody but Trump.” A better question is “why should she bother answering questions?” She doesn’t have to win votes… Trump is doing her job for her. -

Yes, sir... by words and actions. That's exactly what MAGA says. -

I think Cruz should win a race that is closer than it should be. I'm a little concerned that there will be down-ticket carnage caused by the Presidential dust-up. Texas is still red, but it won't be for much longer. The Rs are squandering a huge opportunity to bring home the Hispanic vote for generations, but instead we want to talk about "building walls" and "the largest deportation operation in modern history" if Trump gets elected. That affects the illegals of course, but it also threatens the legal citizens who know/love people who will be sent away if Trump's plan goes into effect. Somebody who supports deportation will immediately scream "you know who is in favor of deportations? Immigrants who are here legally." But do you know who never actually makes that claim for themselves? Immigrants who are here legally. It's always some soon-to-retire white guy with a really red complexion and spittle on the corner of his mouth yelling it out on behalf of the unseen legal immigrants. -

You're not wrong anywhere... but the main thing to remember is politics is about getting elected, first and foremost. Electability is much more important that policies, because IF a candidate with the "right" policies loses, he/she won't be implementing many policies, now will they? Which candidate your beliefs align with more closely might be important to you, but if you hitch your wagon to a lame horse that you really, really like.... you're not going far. Sure, we want to hear the politician's policies, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to who can garner the most electoral college votes... and Trump and his followers are out there saying "I don't need Dems.... I don't need Rinos... I don't need Hispanics... I don't need blacks.... I don't need women... I don't even need the Republicans I don't like... if MAGA turns out, I will win, because my policies are better." That's how you take another big ol' "L" on election day. -

Trump went to ‘Nam, didn’t he? -
Trump's 3-4 point lead over Biden has evaporated into trailing Kamala by 2 points on the national average. I don't know anything about Walz other than the things I've seen posted here, but I turned on the TV this morning and listened to him for a few minutes. He's a veteran, won a state championship coaching High School Football, won a House seat in a District in which Trump won by double digits...and just comes across as likable. He's kinda doing what Trump's VP pick should be doing, instead of out being hateful with the "single cat lady" cracks, misogynist takes on women in general, and otherwise just coming across as conceited and unlikable-but that's exactly why Trump picked him... they're two of a kind, personality wise. Stop reading Reagan's posts and just watch the dude speak. He's a great speaker... i mean, unless all you want to hear is insults, name-calling, wild exaggeration, hyperbole, and locker room talk. As a life-long conservative... The Rs are in big trouble this time around. In my political amateur opinion, anyways.

No, it's not that simple. If you want energy independence, safe borders, confidence in Washington from the business sector, fear of us from rouge nations, and all the toilet paper you can possibly use, vote for a candidate that has all of those thing and can get elected. *whispers* "in other words, not Trump." There were plenty of those candidates out there that would beat Biden/Walz til they had blood in their socks, but we didn't want them. MAGA wanted Trump. It's too late for 2024... hopefully we can get past the "idolization of bullies" phase and get back to nominating candidates who can actually get elected, instead of nominating jerks and then crying about the way other people vote.
