  1. Honestly, we only see posters from the four schools that I listed. Thanks for the info, though. I was trying to think and last year we still had Woodville, West Brook, Jasper, and PNG also playing if my memory is correct. Maybe more.
  2. Four... Silsbee, WOS, Newton, and BH. correct me if I’m missing any other SETX teams that are still standing after the second round. WOS and Newton are annual locks to still be in action for week 3 and Silsbee isn’t a surprise to still be rolling either.... BH being the only “dark horse” still in the thing. I can’t remember a season where so many were done so early on. It’s hard to argue with anybody saying that setx football is down... for now anyways.
  3. C’mon, man! You know CT isn’t the type to duck a tough game. On the other hand....
  4. Somebody needs to go check on JasperDawg. That guy was taking smack back during scrimmages. “She” must not wanna come crawling out of that hole that he dug for himself.
  5. I agree.... if only winning district is what your goal is, then he’s a good fit. If you guys want to be considered one of that rare group of elite teams that are in the hunt to go deep every fall and cash in every now and then, I’m not sold on him. It’s just unfortunate because I can freely admit that I wish we some of that Jasper talent at our disposal. And I doubt I’m alone among local schools in saying that.
  6. Westerberg has ‘em headed in the right direction. Coaching matters.
  7. Some guys can wring a lot of production out of a group of semi-talented kids and some guys just can't seem to win big with a bunch of talent on the field. I'm not sure where Barbray is.
  8. Still repping the Butch over here. Lol.
  9. Belleville’s got their work cut out for them next week. I’d like to see Rowe win one over CT just because, but I’m not rooting against WOS, either. This COULD be Bellville’s year.
  10. Somebody congratulate JasperDawg that his squad made it one round further than we did, lol.
  11. The programs that are thriving now are ones that were tested and grew already during the year. You guys can’t help which District you’re lumped in, but padding your record by playing cupcakes like us in non-district doesn’t prepare the boys for the postseason. You guys should be locking up with some tough squads in non district and then cruising through District kinda like Newton does.
  12. Fixed it for you. I’ve been predicting this since you guys dropped that game to Diboll. All of that talk about “state” and “who’s gonna make it out of region... Silsbee, WOS, or Jasper?” was totally un-justified. Seriously, though... you’re a good fan, a likable guy, and it sucks that this has happened to your team. Sorry.
  13. Where are you at Smash? I thought we were gonna be bleacher buddies?
  14. Newton’s offensive play calling didn’t give up 42 points, either.
  15. All kidding aside, you know that Carthage isn’t taking Lumberton seriously or they wouldn’t have agreed to play in Lumberton.
  16. Aw, c’mon! I was really hoping to sit next to you and hear what it was like to play back before helmets had facemasks.
  17. I think Lum needs to take as long as they possibly can to score on every single drive... Just wind the clock and protect the ball. That’s really all that they have to do. And pray. Pray a lot. To Jesus, Baby Jesus, Mother Mary, Buddha, Allah, that Hindu she-god with the eight arms, and the comet that those guys in the purple Nikes were worshipping.
  18. No offense, but the world you’re describing doesn’t exist anymore, I’m afraid. The areas where these inner city schools are decimated compared to what they were like in your youth. It’s like the epicenter of the breakdown of the nuclear family. The poverty issue goes hand in hand with that. You can go to a BC game and kids will have mom/stepdad, dad/stepmom, Grandparents, and maybe an aunt and uncle or two. It was unbelievable to look across the field and see a dozen or so North Forest fans in attendance. My hat is off to those coaches in places like Wheatley. They’re dealing with issues we’ve never dreamed of.
  19. They knocked us out in the first round in 15. They were in a totally different level. From the custom painted Blue Bird buses to the coaching staff to fans..: they know what they’re doing and they do it very well. They’re an extremely small 4aD1 school, but they had an unbelievable number of kids suited out. Not just suited out, but receivers that were BUILT like D1 recruits. Lineman that, pardon me, weren’t just unathletic fat kids that look like they’re about done playing organized sports. They were an eye-opener for sure.
  20. Boy, I’d like to see a dogfight in this one. A chance to knock off a legendary program in the second round in your own house.... outstanding opportunity. I don’t see how they can get it done, but if anybody is due for a little love from the football gods, it’s the L-train. Just need to be in it at the end.
