  1. You’re BADLY mistaken. Trump added more debt in 4 years than anybody in hard dollars. He ranks as 3rd worst for adding to the debt of all time in dollars adjusted for inflation. His spending out inflation in motion and he got a pass on it by everybody in this election cycle.
  2. B-b-b-but…. No taxes on overtime!
  3. Our debt was exploding after Trump’s tax cuts, even before COVID. That spending (combined with Biden’s continued deficit spending) led to the inflation that we’re seeing today. When Trump lost, there were race riots everywhere and we had to wear a mask to go anywhere. I haven’t forgotten Operation Warpspeed and vaccination cards. I just hope this term won’t be as much of a disaster as Trump’s first one was.
  4. Well, it looks like I might have misjudged this one a little bit. He’s still a turd, though.
  5. You were hating on my cards, so I had to point out the Raiders’ impotence.
  6. We could both lose and still be ahead of the Raiders in District Standings.
  7. Would you prefer a tax cut or an actual handout? That's how you pick.
  8. I was thinking shortly after the polls closed on the west coast... before midnight, our time. By memory that's about the time that the media called it for Trump in '16. They never have ALL of the votes counted, but recognize when one candidate has an insurmountable lead and then call that state (or whole race) for the winner. This one is going to be so close in the battlegrounds that I think they're going to count all of the votes before calling those states for either candidate. All that to say, I doubt we have a new president called as victorious this evening. I think the counting will go on for a day or so. The good news is that there's not a mountain of mail-in ballots like there were in 2020.
  9. I don’t want to harsh the vibe on Chester’s post, but how do y’all see this evening going? Earlier I predicted that Kamala would have it wrapped up definitively tonight… I’m just not so sure anymore. It’s just too close. Personally, I expect Trump to claim victory early, based on his campaign’s internal polling-before any of the news orgs call the race for anybody. I’m also curious if he’ll ever concede, even if it becomes painfully obvious that she’s got it wrapped up. Lots of strange ways for it to go this time around.
  10. I hope the stupid thing is over by Thanksgiving. I still have nightmares about 2000 and 2020.
  11. Bc and LCM are pretty evenly matched this year… LCM won the actual game. I thought HH would be a level up over LCM (and BC). It should make for an interesting game on Friday. go cards!
  12. One thing is for certain… half of America is gonna be really upset when they finish counting the votes, regardless. I’m praying for peace.
  13. For guy who revolted over having to pay taxes, I’m certain they’d have a problem with a tax system that taxes individuals income, then hands it back out to those who didn’t earn income as the ironically named “Earned Income Credit.” It should have never devolved into a platform for wealth redistribution. And I don’t think UT can weasel around and make it sound constitutional, either.
  14. I don’t think you realize that even as a “reponsible” state, Texas still takes in more federal dollars than it sends to Washington. We have a balanced budget every year as a part of our state constitution, but don’t kid yourself… if we retained ALL of our dollars that are currently sent to Washington but gave up all of the dollars they’re currently sending back our way… we’d suffer. I think my point is this… it sounds dumb when the left says that we CAN have it all, we just need the rich and corporations to pay their fair share. But it’s even more stupid to say “We CAN have it all, we just need to stop paying taxes.” But being reasonable won’t get you elected… promises of gifts from the treasury (even if it’s by way of tax cuts) is what will actually get you elected.
  15. My thoughts go like... 1. Trim the fat where we can... wasted money on pork projects.. including in the military. No more billions on outdated weapons systems. And there's no reason that almost every veteran out there is 100% disabled due to their PTSD and drawing $4500/month (and free healthcare) in perpetuity after serving as a mechanic and never seeing any action. They're a disgrace. 2. No tax cuts for the foreseeable future. But no increases, either. And fix loopholes that allow billionaires to live tax-free. 3. Limit increases in social security/medicare/medicaid spending. Same with SNAP/EBT programs, etc... and do an immediate audit of ALL benefit recipients to see if they actually qualify, are alive, etc.... there's too much waste in those much-needed programs. Like... cheese/butter/milk/dried beans instead of EBTs that can be used for hot food. 4. Eliminate the USPS with an amendment to the constitution... it's useless in 2024. We need to work on the mindset of the elderly and infirm... No, you didn't pay for it. You paid into it, and it's inadequate to fill your needs. Drop the entitled attitude, Grandpa. Before Hippy comes in with the "well, if I'd have invested 15% of my income at a 20% rate of return, I'd have...." But you didn't. You were forced to hand over 15% for safekeeping and they spent it all. It's gone. You didn't have an investment account, you were forced to participate in a Ponzi scheme and it's insolvent.
  16. No.... you haven't been paying attention. I'm all about cutting spending and continuously complain that "cutting spending" isn't even mentioned on the campaign trail by either party. WE, Rs and Ds alike, are too spoiled to admit that we need to do some serious belt-tightening or our nation will falter. But where do we start? Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, the Military, and debt service are untouchable (according to the voters) and make up the vast majority of our federal spending. Yes, there's fat in our spending, but we're borrowing 1 out of every three dollars spent annually, and nipping a few pork projects isn't going to fix that. But to be talking about cutting taxes during a crisis like the one we're in is unconscionable. I don't just blame the promise-making politicians.... it's the voters demands that are driving our demise.
  17. No, Trump has broken all of us, financially speaking. And by "Trump," I mean the last 30 years of Presidents, but Trump was the worst. Any time I hear somebody crowing about tax cuts when our debt is crippling, I realize that they have no idea about micro/macro economics. You can't borrow your way out of debt.
  18. It’s not being smart, it’s using your head. Imagine a Sunday morning when the preacher says, “you know, 10% is too much to tithe. We’re going to cut our thithing back to 2% on your income and the church will be greatly blessed! Our coffers will overflow!” Then two years later they can’t keep the lights turned on, so they borrow against the church building. This would be a pretty clear warning to most people, but Chester and the rest of the flock really like only tithing 2%, so they make no changes and the church gets foreclosed upon. But hey, at least the tithes were low. Render unto Caesar.
  19. Y’all keep saying “tax cuts! Like Reagan!” Yes, those cuts led to some instant gratification.. and they led to a ballooning debt which forced Bush to raise taxes in 1989. Trump didn’t work miracles for the economy… he just borrowed a lot of money and passed it around. The balance is still due, btw.
  20. If l you ever realize that inflation is caused by deficit spending… which is caused by cutting taxes without cutting spending… your head will probably explode. y’all are trying to rehire the guy who steered the truck into the ditch, and blaming the wrecker driver who pulled the thing out of the mud without having a full-fledged recession. Trump’s plans for more tax cuts will add more to the debt than Kamala’s spending. Every economist out there recognizes it. Even Elon admits that Trump’s plan will wreck the economy.
  21. We finally got a decent coach, opted up, and are hanging with the best in the district. Y’all hired a state championship level coach and guaranteed that he’ll never go to Dallas again. Heck, he’s only gotten out of the first round what? Twice? In your best years you can barely beat us.
