  1. Lumberton recently won their first ever playoff game in basketball. The school board reacted swiftly by firing the super. The community is well aware that winning starts at the top, so they wanted to nip "winning" in the bud.
  2. That was subtle irony... we don’t see many of those down heah...
  3. You realize that we play WOS pretty much every year, right? We have also squared up with talented squads like Newton and Silsbee... and occassionally (but not often) we're competitive. So we do play teams with talent... a lot of times we're facing much more athletically talented squads. The whole reason that this thing veered so far off of topic is that I was questioning BISD's selection for the new head coach at BU and somebody started with the "would BC beat either squad?" No, and we'd kick all of the crap out of High Island in our worst year. Same difference... and it's okay. Like I said... there are a lot of talented kids that play(ed) for Ozen, Central, and now BU that I feel are being cheated out of an opportunity to succeed by another puzzling hiring decision by BISD admins. It's nothing new.
  4. So.... We've got a better record than all but one of the schools I've mentioned, and a state championship as well. And we've never even come close to having a fraction of the talent that walks around those campuses. You've made my case for me. Thank you, kind Sir. We haven't had any Tony Browns or Calvin Tylers over here, if you know what I mean. But I can also say that as a baseball first, "run decent football coaches out of town" kinda school.... we still wouldn't hire a guy that was 0-30.
  5. Ummmm.... I think that was the “what if” game you were playing when you asked if we could beat either of those much, much larger schools in BISD. And this topic was about the search for a new coach, not football in particular. My problem is this... West Brook has had modest success while Central, Ozen, and now United have been sucking hind tit for a lot longer than two years. If you’d like to compare any of those three schools all-time records to ours, I’m game. The amazing thing is that those BISD schools I mentioned have had tons and tons of talented athletes, the likes of which BC has not. So.... you start doing the math. You guys have tons of talent, but no success. The key missing ingredient is coaching, IMO. The initial hire at BU was underwhelming to say the least... then they turn around and hire a guy that sporting a modest 0-30 record as a head coach. The dumpster fire that I speak of is BISD administration. The lack of success in football (aside from West Brook) is just a product of that dysfunction. I’m not dogging the kids at BU or the program itself. From the outside looking in it appears that they are literally being set up to fail by administration.
  6. In standardized testing? Yes....Without our calculators. If we had your enrollment, I have no doubt that we would pin your kids’ ears back, just like your old 5A D2 district did. Serious question... how have y’all historically done so little with so much talent? I think y’all had nine kids get scholarships last year and two wins to show for it? I’d like to think it’s an aberration (noun... a departure from what is normal, usual or expected), but history indicates clearly that this is nothing new.
  7. Wow. Can anybody imagine the response on the Reservation if PNG admin signed a dude that was most recently 0-30, alum or not? BISD is still a dumpster fire. I take back all of the bad things I've ever said about kids transferring out of BISD for Silsbee or whatever.
  8. Week 11 with the DC on the line.... I like it. Lol.
  9. Just not Silsbee, LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. That's a good one... Of course not.
  11. 11-4AD2 is gonna be the best local district IMO... Longest road game will be out to Liberty. Lots of good matchups and rivalries. Re-phrase that.... Most fun local district. We get to match back up with those skirts from Orangefield at long last and HJ is back on deck for us.
  12. Silsbee Fan: "The other 32 Tigers got screwed."
  13. Three times, if you count us stealing Tarver. Lol.
  14. We beat the Mustangs last week in OT.
  15. Voted for Memphis, Texas....
  16. I honestly don't have a clue about how to start fixing it. I don't blame the teachers for the current state of education. My mama used to have a saying... She'd say that "nobody is raising those kids, they're just getting bigger." That seems pretty true about a lot of our youth today.
  17. I expect first or second in District for the Tigers. Coach Smith is playing system football where the Tigers should be fairly consistent year in and year out... it’s not just putting the team’s fortunes on a single good player every few years. Success like the Tigers have enjoyed the last two years tends to bring in bigger numbers of players, but it can also breed a little complacency. Hopefully that’s not the case. Realignment could also have a big impact playoff success.
  18. [Hidden Content] How did y’all get beat in basketball by a bunch of out-of-shape white kids last night? That’s an embarrassment to the sport of basketball and the African American community as a whole.

  20. They’ll be moving all of that hardware to BC when the TEA takes over and puts us in charge.
  21. All jokes aside, y'all would be 2 rings short of where you are now if you'd been in the same classification as Carthage. Nobody's gonna argue that.
  22. What?!!!!! Barbray is scared of Silsbee, but not Carthage? Get outta here! Carthage dropping to 4A D2 is the equivalent of Newton dropping to 2A and all of the 2A schools saying “we aren’t scared.” Well, you’d better be. If the UIL sees fit to squeeze Carthage into a district that is the bi-district of mate of ours (like the “District of Doom” was before you might see Silsbee or WOS getting sent home in the first round like that loaded Tiger team from ‘16. The road to Jerry World runs through Carthage now, my friends.
  23. We're both wrong. Dontre led you guys to the regional finals in 2015, but won the award in the Spring of 2016. Y'all got knocked by Carthage in 2016 and Tyler racked up the award that Spring (2017). I got confused over the years (season vs. WRS) when I was running back through the stats. JD didn't win in 2017 because the voters decided (after Jamaal Charles) that you can't win two years in a row. The rules were again revised after voters selected Montana Quirante as offense AND defensive winner after the 2012 season. I'm kinda surprised that you didn't know all of this. You could make an argument either way in 2016 (Dontre vs Dallas) or 2017 (Dallas vs. Tyler). I have it on good authority that all of the voters in 5A were so glad to see Tyler transfer to Silsbee for athletic purposes before the 2016 season that they rewarded him with the WRS. At the end of the day it's all subjective, but nobody got screwed either year.
  24. We were just on top when time ran out. I still think that the 2016 Tigers were a better squad than the last two squads that played in the state semis.
