Hardin-Jefferson 26 Liberty 7/FINAL
CardinalBacker replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
Scarborough at 0-10 was the first one that I thought of. It bugs me more with smaller (4-5 team districts). Even 6 team districts like ours are pushing it. Then again in ‘16 Carthage was third in their district and won the state championship. Wait... they knocked y’all out in the first round that year didn’t they? NOW I see why you are against it! 😂🤣😂 -

If it was like the old days where only the DC advanced, y’all would be sitting at home again. More kids get to experience the playoffs and the best teams get an easy matchup in round one. I’m okay with it. -
Lumberton 20 Little Cypress-Mauriceville 14/FINAL

That was his last deal. New one is for $135k per year for 12 years with an option for 6 more. I even heard that an Army Recruiter drew the thing up. It’s ironclad. -
I don’t know much about ‘em.... we had a couple of games with them around ‘11 and they were terrible. So bad that one of their kids got handcuffed for trying to fight his own team. But they also beat us in the third round in 2016, so I don’t know. Good luck to LiCK’eM.

I’m gonna go with the Livingston Lions... they wanted down in 4A bad enough to get busted fudging their numbers 4 years ago. They dropped down legitimately two years ago and I’m pretty sure didn’t win a single district game in two years. It’s a shame that they were competitive in 5A ten years ago. Very disappointing.

I’d like to point out that I called this one.

Let’s go, Big Red!!!

I agree... something should be done. And by something, I mean that people should stop complaining and actually do something. There are too many corporate partners in Silsbee that I'm certain would be willing to donate/sponsor such a memorial if approached.

On a plus note, I saw where our Freshman Squad finished up the year as District Champs. Im gonna hold my celebrations down a little because our ‘16 Freshman Squad went undefeated.
-
Yeah.... Nice record against weak competition. I'd be excited to see you guys make 3-4 rounds, but I don't think it happens this year.

Somebody said we have to win by eleven to get in. Can anybody verify that? 1. It’s Senior Night 2. Them boys ain’t been playing on wet grass. 3. It’s a long bus ride from Splendora to Bc. Yellow Dawgs are hell on the legs. 4. It’s gonna be cold. 5. Splendora is in the playoffs regardless. I don’t know... I think we might be in for a little upset.

Isn't that what LIvingston did four years ago? They didn't count their kids that were in alternative (disciplinary) setting and goofed everything up. Somebody with a better memory can feel free to correct me.

SETX SNAP SHOT NUMBERS/POST 'EM HERE!
CardinalBacker replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
That’s crazy... because I seem to notice a lot more graffiti when I drive around Nederland. And our schools are obviously much, much, nicer. I mean, that 156 million dollar bond will help, but y’all still won’t even be close. I guess the bigger question is why people are leaving Nederland while Orange County is growing? Lets not forget that Port Arthur used to be the jewel of southern Jefferson County... Nederland hasn’t ever even been the jewel of Mid County, lol. -
SETX SNAP SHOT NUMBERS/POST 'EM HERE!

Yeah... the group that will most likely be affected will be young families with school-aged kids being priced out of the market. I can think of two life-long Bulldog families that have kids in Orangefield and BC now. You can buy more house for the money. -
As long as one of them burns down Jasper in the third round (assuming Jasper is still around) I'll be content.
-
Well, I can’t speak for you all, but we’ve made dramatic improvements this year. Our winning percentage improved over last year (thanks, Imelda!), and our fans are still supporting our playoff boycott in its third year. Go Cards!!!

They need a Art Briles type hire... somebody who can come in with assistant coaches that bring sons and nephews for the skill positions.

Good Qbs aren’t developed by high school coaches. They have dads who groom them until they get to play for talented youth league coaches. Mix in heavy doses of private coaching, summer camps, and 7 on 7 and you could possibly end up with a decent high school qb. The days of the guy in Bike shorts with a clipboard, sunglasses, and a whistle noticing the tall sophomore tight end, plugging him in at qb, and collecting trophies are a myth. There are kids at Port Neches Elementary that just wrapped up STJFL and want nothing more than to be QB1 at PNG. There parents will give them everything that they need (except good genes, lol) to succeed as a qb one day. That doesn’t happen in BC, and it doesn’t happen in Lumberton. It’s no fun running draw plays out of the spread when your qb goes down and there is no decent backup. We’ve been there.

This is probably gonna be correct, but we’ve got a week to go and if by some crazy chance BC beats Splendora next week, we take 4th and Splendora goes home, or am I missing something? Honest question... that puts us both at 2-3 with us having a tiebreaker, IMO.

I just know that there were jugs on every restaurant counter in town trying to recover that 70 grrrrrrr for a couple of years. But i should have know that’s acceptable behavior up there, I guess.
