  1. The early bird may get the worm... but the second mouse gets the cheese.
  2. Yeah... he was in season 4, too.
  3. I'd hope so.... You guys were State Semi-finalists last year and the Cards went 2-8. I'm really glad that y'all dropped down so that y'all can enjoy some much deserved success in the post-season. I hope that you guys can eventually win a SC so that you can move on up to the same level as great progams like BC, WOS, and Newton. It's all love, little bro.
  4. Boy, I don’t know. Vs is a better production, but this one is so much more memorable. I’m going with “Everything Green” as better.
  5. It’s that time of year... NOTHING gets me pumped like a little school pride! This is my personal favorite. Feel free to join in.
  6. Yes, sir... I recall you saying that. I was predicting a move to WR.
  7. The report I read a couple of years ago indicated that the district had grown by 1000+ kids in 3 years. The component that everybody is dancing around is that while there is some growth out around Tarkington, the primary area that's exploding is "La Colonia" out near Plum Grove. It's the opposite of a masterplanned community (Kingwood, The Woodlands) built out in the woods Southeast of Cleveland. The marketing has been primarily made to the working class Hispanic Community in the Houston metro area. A friend of mine works for a utiliity company in the area and they predict 25,000 new electric meters in an subsequent addition the growth that's already occurred. The growth has been phenomenal.... but when you see remarks about "being good at baseball and soccer" they aren't talking about upcoming pitchers... it's a reference to the fact that bulk of the new population is Hispanic.
  8. They beat us in 14. That's the game that got Stump fired. Tie game, we drove down to 4th and 8 on their 12. Our kicker was capable. We ran a draw play from shotgun, didn't convert.... Lost to the Indians in overtime. And the rest was history.
  9. There was no problem. Kid didn’t even need to suit up his senior year. Colleges love that. On a personal note....Have you noticed that nobody has jumped in to defend your “colleges encourage players to skip their senior season” crap?
  10. For sure... I was just acknowledging that guy that said colleges would prefer that you not even play your senior year. That was a joke, right? “The new trend is to just avoid playing ANY varsity ball.... and watch the offers roll in, boys!” 🤡
  11. Ask the Brown kid from Newton how much his senior season last year affected his prospects. So you can save it.
  12. I’d say that missing out on your Senior Season is a fairly decent loss... and I’ll bet that the kid is gonna feel the same way all season. There’s a small group of people who think that THSFB is all about “offers.” Statistics show is that these are also the people who almost never graduate from the college(s) that they end up attending. The one out of 1000 college athletes that do end up playing pro football play less than three years and are penniless in the same time span. So keep chasing those ”offers.” The statistics indicate that you’ll end up with bad knees, no education and no skills before your mid 20s. That’s the real truth about kids trying to make it based on their athleticism.
  13. Were you advising this kid's parents? They aren't telling him where he can/can't move to.... they're just saying that if he moves for athletic purposes (which is exactly what the DEC, SEC, and any reasonable person, and it sounds like you, too believe), then he is unable to play football at his new school for a year. Rules are rules. You can't fail drug tests in the NFL. Should the league be able to suspend guys for doing perfectly legal things (Colorado, etc...) in their off time? Apparently. The "academic purposes" line is a joke. Demas' grandfather (alleged caretaker) met with the coach, but never a principal or guidance counselor before the transfer occurred. Why didn't the other brothers transfer, too? If things were so bad in North Forest, then why are Demas' little bros still walking the halls over there. My guess is that like you, Demas' family believe that they should be able to anything that they please in order to further their kid's career... which on it's surface is a reasonable expecation. The only problem is that when you are using a vehicle (the UIL, in this case) you kinda have to play by there rules or you lose you rights to that vehicle. The kid is still free to attend any and all camps, play in any all-american game, even suit up for the Tomball JV Squad.... He just isn't going to play varsity ball for a year because of some bad decisions by the grownups around him.
  14. Couldn’t he still suit up for the JV squad?
  15. Or just move. What's a year-long lease in the grand scheme of things? Rent your own house out and set up shop in a rental in Tomball. At least then you have some plausible deniability for your athletically-purposed transfer. apartmentfinder.com Guys like "The Footwork King" have a revenue stream that comes largely from getting talented athletes to attend anxiously waiting D1 schools. NOT getting kids scholarships. Those guys work around the NCAA rules regarding payments to athletes and their families, as well as who knows what all else. It's no shocker to recognize that the three schools complaining (LSU, Mississippi, and Oklahoma State) are the ones complaining. Most of "The Footwork King's" "clients" end up at UT, A&M, and Oklahoma. The UIL is just trying to keep that kind of thing out of Texas High School Sports. And failing pretty miserably in Basketball, I might add.
  16. I think the whole situation probably had a lot to do with the kid’s connection with “The Footwork King.”
  17. In a perfect world we’d drop down and take up a spot as a big 4AD2. I’d rather get out-athleted by schools like WOS and sometimes Silsbee than just sat on by a bunch of fat kids from schools with 350+ more kids than us. Like everybody in our District. Our enrollment is so small compared to our district mates. We turned in 818 last time and our nearest enrollment was 1059, if my memory is correct. The bad news is that our secret is out and we keep growing despite the semi-annual floods.
  18. And the press box is only gonna cost y'all about 16 million dollars.... plus interest, lol.
  19. Oh, keeping him wasn't an option. Keeping him from playing for another team is.... and that's exactly what just happened. The fact is this. If a parent chooses to transfer their kid for athletic purposes, that parent has forfeited that kid's right to play. That's how it is, and that's how it should be. How is Zeke helping the Cowboys by refusing to play out his contract? How is AB helping his team by refusing to play because he can't wear his lucky helmet? Why would you even sign your kid up for a team sport if all that you're concerned with is your kid? Go buy him some golf clubs, sign him up for fencing lessons, or hire a boxing trainer. Those are great sports for kids whose parents can't understand the concept of "team." And parents like that raise kids who are crappy teammates.
  20. So what about the kid's two brothers who weren't transferring? Their educations aren't a big deal? It kinda blows the whole "transferring for academic reasons" argument out of the water. The problems is that the kid lined himself up with promoter/agent/liaison that was shopping him and the Tomball qb as a tandem to bigger schools. Now, you may believe that kids should feel free to transfer without penalty whenever, wherever, however... unfortunately that's not allowed within the current ruleset, and it shouldn't be allowed in my opinion. The only crybabies that I see are the whiny parents who want to move their kids around because they don't like the way things are going in their current situation. Well, that and you.
  21. Oh, I’m just basing it on a kid from Newton/Beaumont who SHOULD have been practicing with the Horned Frogs right now.
  22. Coaches weren't the crybabies changing schools. This kid will never suit up at A&M. If he actually does, it will be one of at least 3 colleges he attends.
