I honestly think he had a decent season as a senior in Evadale if my memory is correct. Aggies could probably fill in the blanks for us.

Hmmmmm.... Ply and Lara at RB I like.... Really need a lot from our O-line to get things moving. We played STJFL with Oceguera (as qb way back then) and it'll be interesting to see how he's progressed. I'm really out of touch with the program these days.

I’m stealing that.

I've been wrong twice. That's why there are two ex-Mrs. Cardinalbackers out telling lies about me, lol.
-
I also found the old thread where Aggie was betting me that Kyle Mackey was gonna be the next HC.... Decided against reopening that convo.

Five dollars says that the big guy didn't have a dad around to tell him how out-of-bounds that is. Or he grew up watching his Dad treat his Mom that way. Either way, it all comes down to not having the right male role model in a young man's life, IMO.

S Got it. My apologies to BadSanta

I fixed it for you. Respect. Will somebody please remind me who it was that threw that out there? I still blame BadSanta.

It works awesome if you have good clock management and a decent defense. It also helps if your district opponents only see it when they play you. Between BC, Lum and possibly LiCk'eM running some form of it, there's not gonna be a lot of novelty in running it later in District play. The flip side is that your defense will suffer when facing a passing attack because the only time that they defend a decent passing attack is on Friday nights. Some of that can be made up with sheer athleticism in the secondary, but I don't think Lum has those kind of horses in the stable. We had a lot of success under Dubois with a decent group of kids using the slot T. We beat talented teams like Silsbee and Center and bigger schools like Huffman, LiCk'eM, etc... It's a great equalizer against bigger/more talented kids if utilized correctly. I think a slot T with a mixed in passing attack like Pleasant Grove ran against a much better WOS team in '17 could hurt a lot of feelings. I know we hurt our fair share without (sorry Tiger fans) a passing threat. If I'm not mistaken, Babin was a Slot T guy before he took the job in Lumberton. Getting the system installed and utilized correctly is another huge key. The other thing is that you MUST have disciplined fat kids if you want to succeed. You're not gonna be very successful with a 175 lb center, no offense.

It's fun to run the "T" when nobody else gets a good look at it. It's not very fun when you're having a "who runs the "T" better contest."
-
I see in the preview where Lumberton is switching to the Slot T, too.

"Fair" is where you go to kiss a pig. This is the real world, and everybody is keeping score.

The freshman team at BC in 16 went undefeated in district, if not the season.... I can’t remember. That group will be seniors this year. I have no such expectations for this fall.

Some battles aren’t even worth being won.

Thanks!

I think WOS has been winning too much.... we need to start busing those athletes around to other cities so that everybody can win, too. Who could possibly need to win that much? It's just more of the winners winning at the expense of others. It's called life, sweetie .... There are winners, and there are losers. I'll give you a hint... only of those groups spends a lot of time crying like you are right now.

Orange County Coaching Records Since 1977!

It's also laughable to think that someone could assemble the most athletically talented group of kids and championships are guaranteed. -
Good work as always.... could you throw up a schedule at the top like you've done in the past? Thanks!

Best QB in Silsbee High School History??

In 16 they were feeding Tyler the ball non-stop. -
When they went after the confederate flag a couple of years ago, I had a talk with my Dad. His politics have leaned further and further left as he ages. I predicted that once the confederate flag is deemed offensive, the next one they’ll come after is the American flag. I can’t think of another one between the Betsy Ross flag and the current one... it’s about as close as it gets. He admitted that I called that one correctly. Also, I think we can all agree that Kapernik’s kneeling during wasn’t just about protesting racial injustices by the police.... dude just hates America and wants to see it rebuilt into something totally different. I guess the only question is whether he (and a whole lot of other dummies) can decide between a totalitarian Muslim regime or a socialist empire with love and acceptance for all of the LGBTQITJDB peeps. A lot of people are gonna be really sad once they no longer have conservative, Christian, right-wing, Republican, straight, white, American males feeding them and protecting them from the Muslims and Socialists.

I think the voters wanted to spread the love around a little. I’m not saying it was an easy decision after the 15 season. You can make a strong argument for either guy. It’s tough to just compare numbers because WOS was literally beating people to sleep both of those years. I don’t remember many games where Silsbee was punting on first down. WOS was calling the dogs off in a lot of games while Silsbee was going for two at the whistle. I miss good football. -
[Hidden Content] Quannel X had the same opportunity. Is it just me? I’ve gotten to where I like Qx a little bit. Don’t come close to agreeing with him, but I can’t help but respect the guy.

Best QB in Silsbee High School History??

It not like the matchup was hypothetical. JD’s Mustangs whipped Dontre’s Tigers on the field. Besides.... we all know that JD wasn’t working with an all-time great receiver like Mackey. If you ask me, without Mackey, we wouldn’t even be discussing Dontre’s numbers. Will somebody please take responsibility for that “Mackey was the best receiver from SETX ever” post after his junior year? I don’t know why I keep thinking it was Santa. -

It did.... second place. The Legend of Jack Dallas was the clear choice that year. He's got a ring to prove it. -
I feel the same way about a lot of the law enforcement issues that pop up. People create tense situations and then criticize the officers' responses while under that intense pressure. I don't care how much you train or prepare someone, there's a complete and total difference between firing dummy rounds while training on a paintball course somewhere versus an instantaneous situation where someone is trying to kill you.... even if the threat isn't as real as the officer believes it to be. When I hear about "the talk" that AAs have with their kids, I'm reminded of the same exact talk that my Dad had with me. Well, almost the same. He didn't tell me the that the cops were all racist. He DID tell me that I'd better "yes, sir" and "no, sir" because they could honestly take me down a dirt road and do whatever they wanted to. He also gave me a good point about "you never know who caught their old lady in bed with somebody else this morning.... and you might be the smart_ss that he snaps on." My dad also had the belief (which I share) that the police NEED to kick the crap out of people sometimes... It's what keeps people in line. You have 15 year old kids armed with cellphones talking mad garbage to cops because they know that most officers aren't willing to give up their careers in exchange for "helping" this young person learn how to behave responsibly in a civilized society. And all of our "progress" has only made things worse. Has all of the kneeling and ambushed police officers made our inner cities any safer? No, things are worse than ever. All it's served to do is embolden the bad guys.
