  1. And then comes baseball season where we crush your dreams over and over and over. It’s okay. Y’all are having a Silsbee another Silsbee football year. You know, where you guys finish second in the district and make a premature exit from the playoffs with a ton of talent that the rest of us wish we had. But keep thumping your chests and talking about how good you REALLY are, despite constantly turning in performances you should be ashamed of. Seriously.... WOS is as what could possibly be their worst team in history and y’all still got spanked. What’s the excuse? Are we still sticking with “coaching?”
  2. C’mon! You’re a mod! Should you really be calling names? We can also talk about Anahuac. I don’t want to sound like a braggart, but we scrimmaged HF and we ran all over them. My whole point is that you are only as good as the scoreboard and your record. We stink. Y’all are mediocre. That is all.
  3. Yes. Just gotta best Splendora. Then we’ll be in the 4A D1 playoffs. Aren’t y’all 3A now?
  4. Yeah... there comes a point late in already decided games where you should just have THAT kid handing the ball off to RBs. Even if you don’t care about his future, you should at least be protecting him for MCM and the postseason. Can you imagine the poop storm if he got injured late in a meaningless point in the game?
  5. Actually, you’re only as good as you play on Fridays. The Football gods don’t care how fast you run or how good of athletes you have... what matters is the score. And last night Silsbee was barely better than HF.
  6. In 16 our freshman team went undefeated and had kids move up to play effectively on the varsity team during the playoffs. That’s the same group and kids that will finish with one win in the district this year. You can’t predict the future based on success at lower levels. Some kids quit. Some kids never grow. Some kids hangout at Whataburger and smoke a lot of weed instead of hitting the weight room. This group has made me pretty skeptical of future groups.
  7. We’re not the worst! We’re not the worst! We’re not the worst! I really hope that we have some leaders step up for next year. This year has been brutal.
  8. Apparently both teams have agreed that this contest will conducted as an aggressive game of two-below.
  9. The question is, who's gonna be owning the coach's house?
  10. I think Bridge City squeaks out a win in the friendly confines of Historic Larry Ward Stadium. It's a tough venue in which to play. I expect Livingston's players to be freaked out by the flyover that will come courtesy of the Orange County Mosquito Control plane. Tired legs from the long bus ride and the fact that that the telephone poles are all taller than the trees will be hard for the Lions to adjust to as well. They will no doubt be amazed by the size of our stands and our ample parking. It will also be mesmerizing to look across the field and see several thousand people dressed in red watching in eery silence as the contest unfolds. Except when our award-winning band plays their hearts out, predominantly while we're on offense. There's no place like home.
  11. Has anybody checked his yardage this year?
  12. False... if you talk enough trash you can be the President.
  13. I didn’t go to the game... I don’t know. The coach left, team participation is down, we don’t have many (or any) elite athletes on the team, kids didn’t push in the offseason, etc, etc, etc.... last year we had a ton of injuries. This year we don’t have any excuses... it’s pitiful, and Lumberton shelled out JV, too. Sad times.
  14. Your first “your” was correct. The second “your” should have been “you’re.” I guess the real question is whether you had substandard teaching, or if you’re just not that bright. Oh, and the kids are well aware of my realistic and accurate evaluation of the teaching profession. Our family motto is “Those who can, do.... those who can’t, teach.”
  15. Ah, two years ago we were undefeated district champs. It’s a nightmare I can’t wake up from.
  16. Yeah.... I used to tell the guys at work "My Daddy always says... it all pays the same" whenever they were complaining. I never really appreciated it until one of the hands repeated it back to me when I was the one complaining. That whole line about the mule is great about other people when you're winning... maybe not so great when you're struggling (and the hypothetical mule), I suppose.
  17. Like the man said..... "You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a mule." Cornell Thompson
