Yeah... I was curious about him as well. I understand that he was a verbal commit, but to my knowledge hasn’t signed yet. I’d like to hear from somebody that actually knows.

Deionte Thompson (WOS) Alabama 1st Team All American

Update. Channel 12 just reported that charges are still pending against two of the accused. The other one plead guilty. Charges were dropped against DT due to lack of evidence. Sounds good to me. -

Yeah... you’re totally incorrect about that. The incident was in the spring of 2017... the tweet thing was from the 2016 game between BC and WOS. The kid that got hurt was from OF. And FYI, most of the kids from WOS (including the young man who was actually mocked in that tweet) were in the BC stands for our game against Silsbee a few weeks later... that whole situation was long since over and unrelated to the fight at the beach. And I guess I could also say that some of the young men from WOS (I think there were two still in school that spring) also might have gotten stuck paying the price for the group THEY were with. -

You have to have kids that buy into the program. You can't just show up for two-a-days and beat anybody. Sorry. It also stinks that our defense never has to defend passing attacks in practice... it puts us at a disadvantage on Friday nights when we actually have to look up. -

No offense, but we never have anybody that can throw the ball. We just don't develop qbs. Any scheme that relies on moving the ball through the air will NOT work without a bona fide qb. I think we'd do a lot better with more of a passing attack (2-3 passes per game isn't going to do it) to compliment our rushing attack, but we've run the spread and it was a disaster. Nothing has changed. Everybody wants to pitch for the Cardinals, but nobody wants to be the qb. That's just how it goes down there. -

I thought everybody that was charged (other than DT) were already finished playing? Can you elaborate? Does anybody know about the charges against those kids, because the way I read the article, DT's pop just mentioned his kid, not the other three. Just because DT's charges got dropped doesn't indicate that all three of the others are blameless... they might have deserved the "attention" that they're getting. I'm fairly certain SOMEBODY stomped that kid out. Nobody can prove that slurs were used, but you can 100% prove that a felony assault occurred. And contrary to popular belief in 2019, you can't just crush somebody's skull because they use (allegedly) a word you don't like.... despite the fact that its blasted through your headphones about 25 times a minute. -

FWIW, I had a kid there at the beach that day that knows DT.... He said that he didn't see DT involved in the violence. He also said that the kid that got smoked had nothing to do with the disagreement... didn't hear any slurs, either. Said there were plenty of drinks thrown, though. My guess is that (like always) the truth lies somewhere in the middle. And sometimes you just have to trust the system to do its work. I wonder what happened to the charges against the other three accused? -

Congratulations Coach Wade Phillips

Robbed? Hardly. If the Saints needed a first down, they should have actually gotten one between the whistles. It's kinda feminine to cry over a missed pass interference call (on a ball THAT WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CAUGHT ANYWAYS) play as proof that the league screwed the better team out of advancing. If you can't move the ball and needed a flag to advance, then.... you don't deserve to win. Secondly, you're exactly right... Nobody except Saints fans feel like the wrong team advanced. -
Congratulations Coach Wade Phillips

Lol. It wasn't the league that kept scoring on the Saints D. And that ball wasn't catchable anyways. If you couldn't put the RAMS away in your own home, you don't deserve to go to ATL. Jeez... what a buncha babies. -
TODD PAINE NAMED NEW HC AT KOUNTZE
CardinalBacker replied to urban_meyer's topic in High School Football
We should get Lance Edwards to.... never mind. This is where I’d normally make a “hard worker” joke, or maybe some other vague innuendo about the oldest profession, but I’m too mature for that now. -

I haven't heard anything like that. -
No, I stated in a previous post that self defense is the only reason to kill. But you really can’t claim self defense when you’re injecting poison into the arm of a person that’s being restrained. Kinda like sticking a needle into a helpless fetus, huh? Stop thinking about what the condemned man did to deserve it. That’s on him. The man flipping the switch, or injecting the poison, or slapping that horse on the butt will have to answer for his actions, too. And he’s not going to have a biblical principal to stand on. Like I said... my beliefs have evolved. I just dont think I’d want to stand in front of my Maker and have to explain to Him why me killing this guy is any different than this guy killing somebody else.
-
I didn’t ask the difference between the unborn and the murderer. I asked for the difference between the abortionist and the executions. Because honestly, they’re both just taking a life. One life is innocent and the other is the opposite... but a life is a life.
-
I mean... that sounds cool and all, but that would make you no better than the person you’re executing. I believe that you have the right to defend yourself up to an including killing somebody if that’s what it takes to save yourself. I just don’t think that ethically you (as a person) can carry out a death sentence and be any different than the convict.
-
How is the executioner any different than an abortionist? Is it because “the state” has determined that the convicted person deserves it? Its a stretch in my opinion. Besides that, it’s cheaper to house an inmate until their natural death than to execute them.
-
My views have changed over time. I had the chance to visit with a captain that had actually supervised executions here in Texas. His accounts were spectacular, and also he had gone through an evolution to believing that capital punishment was wrong. It had an impact on me. I concede that I might feel differently if I was close to a victim, though. I’m not saying that people don’t deserve to be put down... just that actually putting them down is wrong. Kinda like smacking a woman... she might completely deserve it, but you just don’t.
-
So why do people get enhanced penalties when convicted for killing pregnant women? [Hidden Content] Basically, if a mom in NY decides to go get an abortion instead of heading to the hospital for delivery during her 38th week of pregnancy, it's okay because it's "her choice." If I get drunk and run over mom in her 16th week of pregnancy, I'm in extra big trouble because of the death of that unborn child. Kinda paradoxical, is it not? Like I said earlier, Roe vs. Wade is the law of the land as far as I'm concerned, and any time spent discussing it is simply time wasted. I'm glad that we at least agree that tax-payer funded abortions shouldn't occur.
-
You’re absolutely right.
-
All jokes aside, I’m personally opposed to abortion, but never felt like the government should force my beliefs onto others... I guess you could say that I’m very conservative on the social issues, but probably more libertarian on my views of how influential I believe the federal government should be in our lives. Roe vs Wade has been the standard since before I was born, so I think the repubs waste a lot of time discussing the issue just to earn the pro-life vote. What changed my mind on the issue was when the dems moved so far as to demand abortion on demand, regardless of a woman’s right to pay.... effectively saying that people like me who are morally opposed to abortions should be financially responsible for providing them. That’s what drives me nuts about the left... if they support something, any different opinion is labeled hateful, bigoted and an intrusion into their personal life. My views on abortion are hateful and show my willingness to force my views onto women... however, forcing me to break out my wallet and pay for your abortion isn’t forcing their views onto me, lol. If you believe marriage should be between and man and woman (I personally don’t care), you are a homophobe and forcing your views on the LGBTQ community. But, if you bake cakes for a living and believe your bible re:homisexuality, you should be compelled to bake for a same-sex wedding, regardless of your views, and somehow that’s considered to NOT be against your own civil rights. The left wants to decry the federal government as intrusive and overreaching, while simultaneously using it to intrude and overreach into areas that the left wants to see changed. The hypocrisy is maddening.

From The Files Of "That It's All About The Coaching!"
CardinalBacker replied to Reagan's topic in High School Football
It's not as easy as saying "this school produces talent and that school doesn't" based purely on records. Development has a lot to do with the level of success a school enjoys. Newton, Jasper, Kirbyville, and Burkeville have very similar talent pools.... Heck, there are a lot of extended families that have kids in those different ISDs. You can easily rank them by level(s) of sucess achieved, though. There's probably not a more naturally gifted program in the state than Memorial.... they just don't have the hardware to prove it. There's a coaching deficit in my opinion, and a complete lack of development over there. You'll not convince me that the kids in WOS are genetically superior to the ones in PA. It isn't the facilities in WOS that makes them compete at the highest levels every year, either. It comes down to having the coaching, as well as a program that will develop young ballplayers. Naturally talented athletes are definitely a necessary ingredient if you want to regularly compete for SCs... I'm not pretending that you could take any old school, drop in a championship coach, and start collecting rings. You're going to need some top-notch athletes, but you're also gonna need a lot of middle-of-the-road athletes performing at their peak, too.... in the offseason, track season, powerlifting, 7-on-7, etc.... On the other hand, if you tried to implement WOS's program in a place like BC, they'd fire the coach before two-a-days were over. IMO: IF you took a top level guy and brought him in to a place like BC Got community support for the coach/program like they do in other places (Newton, WOS) Had a 3-4 years to develop skilled and non-skilled players Got a lucky move-in or two Then yes.... I think you could develop a consistent team that would play in December a lot of years. But I don't think it happens without any of the above listed components. -
