  1. I wonder if the Wildcat Band even bothered practicing “Rouser?”
  2. The real legal question is "who's getting billed for the time you put into this?"
  3. Deweyville is where you can buy the best speed..... Wait.... what are we talking about?
  4. I thought it would be close two years ago when the stangs faced the Bulldogs and it ended up 45-0 or something. Two totally different squads, and I think big Ned just leans on WOS and grinds this one out.
  5. I'm really thinking about driving up to Diboll on Friday and checking out the action up there. I think I'll have a lot better feel for the team after that.
  6. All kidding aside, I was in the stands in 2009 when Livingston rode into town and beat PNG at the PNG Homecoming... You just can't ever count the Lyin's out.
  7. I expect Lumberton to do well against smaller teams like ours that run a similar offense. I think they'll struggle against teams that can move the ball through the air. No doubt they make the playoffs, it just remains to be seen if they can win the DC.
  8. Lara is supposed to be the 2nd coming of the big, bruising FB... he didn't do as much as I'd expected last year. Ply is one to watch from the wing, I believe. Young kid, but poised to make some noise. Like I said, I've kinda lost touch with the program so y'all know about as much as I do about the state of things in Cardinal Country.
  9. No real input here, other than to say that IF Deshazo can get the Slot T working, the Cards will get their yards. There's teams that run a lot with a feature back, and then there are teams that can hit from four different backs on any play. It comes down to defensive discipline for Diboll. If, and that's a big "IF," the Cards are in sync. I'm excited to see what we're going to be working with this year.
  10. Yeah.... it looks like it’s going to be a long night.
  11. Allen Deshazo.... He was the OC one year and the DC another year under Dubois. I haven't been following the team at all, so I'm in the dark like the rest of you guys.
  12. It’s a really top-heavy district, attendance-wise. You’ve got Lumberton, Splendora, and Livingston all dropping down for this realignment, and with LCM and having recently dropped down from 5A. Huffman’s enrollment is way up there, too. It’s also important to notice that despite all of that size, there isn’t a typical powerhouse in the group. Of course I’m expecting my Cardinals to finish at the top of the District, but fans from pretty much any school in the district can realistically expect the same. It is truly wide-open at this point.
  13. Man, whoever is naming things in BISD these days needs to think outside the box a little. In all honesty, I'm pretty sure that regardless of what they end up naming it, we'll all be calling it the Butch until the end of time.
  14. Gonna miss out on my beloved Bridge City High School Tackle Football Cardinals.
  15. Our band will drown OUR offense out.... Then they stood directly behind our team on the track during the third quarter and played and danced for most of the quarter. Dubois shut the band “tracktivities” down, and I hope they never come back.
  16. Here’s the deal, my friend...I’ll grant you that Newton has a pretty good team returning. But you guys haven’t proven anything other than the fact that last year you blew through the JV playoffs. I can tell that y’all know the title is a joke because all that y’all did was have a link sale and a car wash to buy those kids those plastic state rings... but I digress. Newton Fan was on here earlier this summer talking about how the Eagles could have whipped Carthage.... talking about how this is their year to beat the WOS Mustangs who are looking to return to the 4AD2 State Championship game... NOT the 3AD2 game. Even if the Eagles stumble into four consecutive title games, they won’t be as impressive as WOS’s run because you guys have been playing in lil’ ol’ 3A D2 against teams from schools that none of us have ever heard of or could even find on a map. In short, I have a quote for you. “You ain’t _______, ain’t ever been _______, and your kids ain’t ever gonna be ________..... why? Because you’re from Newton.”
  17. I’m just over here shaking my head.... it’s like Newton Fan has forgotten how they ran and hid from WOS for the last few years.
  18. Amen.... Newton hasn’t faced a team like WOS since the last time they played WOS.
  19. I see you working.... saving the best for last.
  20. Lol... The problems were occurring under his watch. He just got out before it all got exposed. Just like what happened at his previous school. You don’t have to be from Beaumont to recognize it for what it is. Can you point out another school anywhere that built a facility and named it after their acting super? It’s a joke. A really bad one. And you guys don’t even realize that the rest of us are laughing at you.
  21. I’ll concede that the previous supers probably weren’t that great.... but can you tell me which facilities are named after them?
  22. The District was so poorly managed that the State has to come in and clean up the mess... and the ISD isn’t out of the woods yet. In fact, there are no indications that the state intends to turn anything over anytime soon. But people think they should leave the stadium named after the guy who ran the whole thing into the ground. And your right... a LOT of the people in Beaumont would like to see the name stay as it is. But then again, these are the people who elected that bunch of clowns in the first place, and who will undoubtedly elect the same clowns (or their kids, lol) to pick up right where Butch, Calvin, Haynes, and everybody else left off. There are WAY too many people that actually DESERVE to have that facility named after them. Sadly, based on his body of work, Dr Thomas isn’t one of them. Unless you consider being the highest paid Super in the state AND still having your district taken over by the state for corruption a good thing.
  23. And, I guess that’s how someone one would justify turning down money. There’s two sides to the argument. Naming the stadium after a controversial figure at the time he was still clinging to office by his corrupt (allegedly) fingertips was a gigantic “F” you to opponents by the trustees who were eventually removed by the state. Here’s one outsider’s opinion. Based on what time has uncovered regarding BISD administration and their failures during that time, defending the name is equally as repugnant as those trying to remove it for no particular reason. Or at least not one they’d admit in public. It’s a name. It’s nothing but symbolic. If the name has some special meaning for you because it’s “ours,” you’re no different than the guys who would take down for racial reasons. It might come as a surprise to you, but most people who are opposed to the name would happily replace it with the name of another person of color whose name doesn’t carry the negative connotations that Dr. Thomas’s name does. But then again, why should color be a factor in selecting a person to be honored?
