  1. In 16 our freshman team went undefeated and had kids move up to play effectively on the varsity team during the playoffs. That’s the same group and kids that will finish with one win in the district this year. You can’t predict the future based on success at lower levels. Some kids quit. Some kids never grow. Some kids hangout at Whataburger and smoke a lot of weed instead of hitting the weight room. This group has made me pretty skeptical of future groups.
  2. I thought he was slated to line up at receiver?
  3. We’re not the worst! We’re not the worst! We’re not the worst! I really hope that we have some leaders step up for next year. This year has been brutal.
  4. I think I’ll just stick with being honest.
  5. Good grief. CT is gonna wreck shop at halftime.
  6. Apparently both teams have agreed that this contest will conducted as an aggressive game of two-below.
  7. The question is, who's gonna be owning the coach's house?
  8. I think Bridge City squeaks out a win in the friendly confines of Historic Larry Ward Stadium. It's a tough venue in which to play. I expect Livingston's players to be freaked out by the flyover that will come courtesy of the Orange County Mosquito Control plane. Tired legs from the long bus ride and the fact that that the telephone poles are all taller than the trees will be hard for the Lions to adjust to as well. They will no doubt be amazed by the size of our stands and our ample parking. It will also be mesmerizing to look across the field and see several thousand people dressed in red watching in eery silence as the contest unfolds. Except when our award-winning band plays their hearts out, predominantly while we're on offense. There's no place like home.
  9. Has anybody checked his yardage this year?
  10. False... if you talk enough trash you can be the President.
  11. I didn’t go to the game... I don’t know. The coach left, team participation is down, we don’t have many (or any) elite athletes on the team, kids didn’t push in the offseason, etc, etc, etc.... last year we had a ton of injuries. This year we don’t have any excuses... it’s pitiful, and Lumberton shelled out JV, too. Sad times.
  12. Your first “your” was correct. The second “your” should have been “you’re.” I guess the real question is whether you had substandard teaching, or if you’re just not that bright. Oh, and the kids are well aware of my realistic and accurate evaluation of the teaching profession. Our family motto is “Those who can, do.... those who can’t, teach.”
  13. What happened? No second half?
  14. Ah, two years ago we were undefeated district champs. It’s a nightmare I can’t wake up from.
  15. Bright future in BC, lol.
  16. Yeah.... I used to tell the guys at work "My Daddy always says... it all pays the same" whenever they were complaining. I never really appreciated it until one of the hands repeated it back to me when I was the one complaining. That whole line about the mule is great about other people when you're winning... maybe not so great when you're struggling (and the hypothetical mule), I suppose.
  17. Like the man said..... "You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a mule." Cornell Thompson
  18. Who cares? BC vs Livingston in a fight to avoid going winless. Has there ever been a team with a less impressive drop to a lower classification than Livingston?
  19. We just aren’t any good. We’ve had lots of bad years where you could still see a few bright spots here and there. I’m not seeing much this time. In all fairness, how can a defense learn to defend a passing attack when the only time they face one is during games?
  20. That’s a messed up situation.... school board elections matter. Some people believe that any school related expenditure is a glowing “investment in our future” and above even being questioned. Well... this is what you end up with. You really can’t have it “all.” It also sounds like they had some really inept administrators pulling the levers over there, too.
  21. When “keeping it real”’goes wrong.
  22. I’m not fooled by little groups coming up any more. Our freshman team from 2016 was supposed to be the next big thing, too. They went undefeated if my memory is correct. We had kids from that freshman group playing significant time on varsity with success. Those same kids aren’t having the same success as juniors that they had at this level two years ago. We all think of winning teams as a product of their star players. For every successful running back, you have 5-8 good lineman and backs blocking, though. “Good groups” turn into good teams in the offseason. It’s the unsung heroes on the line that make or break seasons. Those heroes aren’t created during two-a-days.
  23. I don’t know... I’m not calling for the guy’s head... he honestly doesn’t have a lot to work with. Bc isn’t a football school.. we play baseball. We made some real strides in that direction and outdid ourselves with the Dubois hire. We honestly wouldn’t have gotten him if he wasn’t a hometown guy who wanted to come home. I think we’ll settle back down and play good baseball and lose 8-9 football games per year going forward. Its not just a coaching issue. It’s a community issue. The kids don’t care enough about the game to put in their time. Heck, the stands are full of kids that should be playing. If you can turn out 170 kids for the band, but only dress 32 to actually play the game, that tells you what the kids and the community want. One of the line coaches has a son that would seem to be a natural line player. He’s huge. You can see him on the sideline tossing balls around. He doesn’t play football... he’s a baseball man. Not trying to single the kid out, but that’s how it goes down in BC. Kids would normally play and spend the offseason lifting and improving aren’t involved.
