Sell the naming rights. Nobody can argue for turning down money just to keep a controversial name posted.

BANNING HOME-SCHOOL STUDENTS IN STJFL
CardinalBacker replied to Dannie Lee Oliveaux's topic in High School Football
Oh, I think home schoolers should be able to play where they live. It’s a tough system to regulate. No matter how hard you try, the teams still seem to end up stacked. If I had to guess, this all about a particularly talented home-schooler wanting to play for a team in Lumberton... despite being a non-resident, and the other Lumberton coaches are flipping out. Anybody that knows can feel free to enlighten us. I’m just guessing. -
Am I the only person that pronounces “Winnie” like Forrest Forrest Gump pronounced Jenny’s name? Jen-nay. Win-nay.

BANNING HOME-SCHOOL STUDENTS IN STJFL
CardinalBacker replied to Dannie Lee Oliveaux's topic in High School Football
The STJFL is tasked with trying to prevent “stacking” teams. I’m going to make a guess that this has to do with some talented kid(s) being homeschooled in one area but wanting to play for a team in another. IE, Junior lives with mom in BC and is homeschooled. Dad wants to coach with his buds and have JR play for Orangefield. The argument is made that since JR is homeschooled, he should be able to play anywhere he chooses, hence the new rule. When we played STJFL, Lumberton had three different teams for a specific age group. Towns like OF end up with one. Everybody gets to play... if too many kids turn out, they just add teams. I fondly remember the year that Port Arthur decided to effectively field a select team. They had tryouts and everything... if you didn’t get picked, you didn’t get to play. And they still got their tails busted and and kicked out of the league for the next year. Lol. -
Who are SETX's best returning wide receivers?
CardinalBacker replied to DannyShapiroBE's topic in High School Football
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...... Slot T! -
I re-rostered two team on NCAA 2k14 to identically match up player by player for both squads. Using both controllers myself, WOS won by 12 points in the second overtime. So there you have it.
-
No way to tell... both teams were really special. I think Carthage would probably be the winner based on the tests that they face through the non-district, distict, and playoffs. Better facilities that could give an edge in game prep and treatment, their consistent play on turf, and just having more talented kids suited up. It would still be hard to count the Legend of Jack Dallas out, though. I’d be pulling for WOS, btw.

Playoff home-field for 4A and below

All jokes aside, I’ll bet a home playoff game at the Reservation would be an experience that would beat the socks off any game played in a 1/4 filled Texan Drive Stadium. -
I appreciated the link provided. In fact, I thought Shapiro was particularly tactful by not even addressing the content in his post.... just a link. I don’t follow local news closely, so it’s doubtful that I would have ever known what happened had it not been for Shapiro’s posting. It seems like some people don’t like the message and feel like attacking the messenger. Honestly, if you haven’t talked with your young athlete about EXACTLY what happened to Blain, your missing a good opportunity.

Best Athletic Season 2017-18?
CardinalBacker replied to DannyShapiroBE's topic in High School Football
Probably Silsbee. PAM got a ring, too. WOS would be an honorable mention in an “off” year in which they came up short in the SC. Big Sandy would probably be on the short list, too. -
That’s a shame....
-
“So, they loaded up the truck and they moved to Silsbeeeeeeeeeee.... Rocky tunes... selling cars.....The Beverly Silsbillies!!!!!!” Y’all come back now, ya heah? The only problem Silsbee Fan has right now is figuring out which two are gonna get screwed out of the Willie Ray Smith Award.

Sam Bradford is the best qb in the world at seven man.

“We had a much better team... they won the toss and chose a one game series. We just had one bad inning. Everybody knows the better team didn’t win....” -

Another DC and early exit. Oh, and this year it’s loaded bats (not bad calls) that sent us home early. -
Probably better question for you to be asking is why the schools that are predominantly football powerhouses also the worst performing academically? I mean, kids have no problems passing their classes and participating in sports, but they can’t pass the standardized testing... I, for one, believe that there is a genetic deficiency that leads to their failures, but rather a culture in those communities that do obviously supports their youth athletically, but fails them academically. Ozen.... stinks PAM.... couldn’t even win an outright DC against smaller teams Central... stinks. The U.... gonna stink Burkeville.... gawd bless em. Any of the Houston teams that make the playoffs with an 0-10 record. How do you explain the failures of these predominantly black schools? Not enough black kids, lol?
-
Nah.... it’s just about what kids are interested in. I’m not trying to sound stereotypical, but it’s the same with boxing... white American kids have no interest in competing in the sweet science, track, or basketball. Black kids by and large aren’t interested in playing golf, hockey, or even baseball. Does this mean you can’t have a decent baseball team unless you have some white kids? It’s entirely possible that a group of kids with years of practice and good coaching will excel at whatever sport they choose. Why do white kids from Canada beat all of the crap out of white kids from America when it comes to hockey? I don’t remember who said it, but the old quote goes something like “if American kids gave a crap about hockey, nobody would know who Wayne Gretzky is.” We suck at Soccer... why is that? Is the whole world just better at it, or do or best athletes end up elsewhere? Your assertion that nobody will succeed in SETX in football without some black kids is just racist and backwards thinking.... and just like the guys that used to say you can’t win with a black qb.
-
Nah... we’ve been down that road before.... Why do so many all-black teams suck, then?
