That’s all I was saying. I expected PAM to be rag-dolling EVERYBODY in the District. With the advantages that PAM has (bigger enrollment and quantity of talent) over the rest of the district, they should be talking about their shutout streak.... not complaining about refs costing them close games.
-
I think we understand each other. I expected WOS-like domination over the District and PAM fan expected to finish as co-champs at best after dropping a game or two each year.

Thank you!

Sounds a lot like a modern remake of “Remember the Titans.”

Ok... I hate to be the voice of reason, but.... how many OTHER buildings in Southeast Texas were a total loss as a result of Hurricane Harvey that received no floodwater? Add to that the fact that the “total devastation” want even recognized until after kids had returned to school. BISD is using Hurricane Harvey as a cover for convincing the feds/insurance to further an agenda. I obviously have no clue what the big wigs in Beaumont have planned, and based on the theories being floated here, most of you don’t either. If I had to guess, based on history I’d bet that there is already a plan for a combo of Ozen and Central to create a new campus that would outshine West Brook in all areas. Or, a decision to send kids back into Central with little to no renovation if it turns out resources are not given to BISD by the feds. Either way, we already know that Walker Electric has the electrical work on lockdown. I also think they should build the new school out there by the Butch and use his name on it as well, just to avoid any confusion.

Oh, I'm sure they'll find some way to screw it up.

When you have the kind of success that Coldspring had and then roll the coach, well...... you get what you get and don't throw a fit. -
Silsbee vs Bay City Friday 6pm Turner Stadium Humble
CardinalBacker replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Football
We beat Bay City in second round last year... they were a good squad, but IF Bay City is about the same as last year's team, Silsbee should be able to move on to the third round. I remember how horrible the buildup to our matchup was.... both teams were called "BC" by their fans. -
WOS has been dominating the district for a lot longer than the last three to four years. Somebody can correct me, but I think they've only lost one district game since 09 or something like that. You're kinda making my point for me.... if PAMs JV could beat most of the district's varsity squads, why does PAM keep ending up as co-champs?
-
My definition of dominate? What WOS does to their district year in and year out. I (and it’s okay to admit that you did, too) expected the Titans to lay waste to everybody in the District.... not just the cupcakes. That’s just not happening. PAM is in the mix at the top of the district... I just expected them to be head and shoulders above everybody else. You guys have a good team... I just expected greatness. Good luck

All jokes aside, I thought PAM would be undefeated in District play after two years. Their larger enrollment and stable of athletes made me believe they’d be unstoppable against local 5A teams. Back-to-back co-district champs is what I believe they’ve accomplished, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. I just expected domination and that’s not what I’m seeing. Overrated? I don’t think so. Not living up to my expectations? Yes.

One of my best friends got beat up by a male cheerleader. He REALLY hates when I retell the story.

Dist. 9 #4 Center vs Dist. 10 #1 Silsbee
CardinalBacker replied to Crawford's topic in High School Football
If I remember correctly, Lara got his first real time at FB that night. I just remember Morris having a career night. He had 226 if our 430 yards. When a team’s leading rusher is out and they still run for 430, you might not be that solid against the run. -

Yes, sir. We faced them in the first round and our FB Draper was out. Tailback Morris ran for 226 and 3 touchdowns. [Hidden Content] -

Unless Center has gotten a lot better at stopping the run than they were in the first round last year, Silsbee should pile up the rushing yards and move on. -

Man... if these guys got beat by Center, Silsbee might have a good game on their hands. -

It's hard to say... I know that RBs Denton and Baker, as well as QB Dubois will all be gone. That leaves RBs Lara, Ply and Hamm as the base of next years offensive attack. I also expect Skinner to start at QB.... he's shown signs that he will be fine in the QB slot, but we just haven't seen a lot out of him this year. I expected a young O-line this year to mature, but honestly, the o-line this year wasn't a group of sophomores like I'd expected.... we're losing several guys to graduation over there, plus most of our linebackers and some key pieces of our d-line. Here's the deal, and I hated to say anything before the season was up.... We'd heard rumors all spring and summer that some of (or a lot of) the kids were mailing it in during the offseason, so to speak. The story is that the team kind of expected to repeat last years successes without necessarily putting in the work. I honestly can't say whether this true or not, so take it for what it's worth... just an opinion from somebody who probably doesn't know what they're talking about. I've wondered how much of our injury bug was a result of half-hearted workouts which resulted in kids who were weaker and smaller and ended up injured. We fight it every year when a lot of our kids play baseball and avoid the strength training and track workouts that really end up producing results on the football field. My opinion is this, and I don't want to discount the effect that the injuries had on our results, but .... most of the group that graduated last year suffered through a 2-8 season in 2014. They didn't like it and bought into Coach Dubois (the new coach that spring) and his philosophy. It took a 2-8 to get the results from the last two years. I think if the kids who return next year become leaders in the off season program and commit to improving and enjoying success, we'll be back in the mix for 2018. Or we can just continue being cellar dwellers... it'll really be determined by the team before two-a-days start next summer.
