  1. Heck, no! Have you seen the Indian Spirit lately?
  2. West Brook Almost anybody from 22-5A or 21-5A WOS BC OF Liberty LCM Silsbee etc, etc, etc...... Newton would win a game or two here and there, but even in Newton's best years there are plenty of teams in the area that will whip them, hands down. No offense, but if Legacy wins a state championship, you really can't put them up as the pound-for-pound best in SETX, in spite of their shiny award. Same goes for Newton. It's unfair, but it's true. T
  3. Newton should be proud of all they've accomplished, but I believe they just don't get the same level of respect because they play in such a smaller division than most of the other "good" programs in the area. It's hard to say "we're the best" when there are probably 15 programs in the area (bigger schools) that would beat you on your best year. I admire the dedication and consistent results they get up there, though. It's impressive. Kinda like having a really neat model of a corvette instead of an actual corvette. WOS has my vote. And a big shout-out to Silsbee Tiger fans for not nominating themselves in this one.
  4. For a couple of years you guys were having trouble with schools like us and Orangefield, and I wouldn't consider us top-level programs in those years... we were just bigger schools and had more bodies. I felt like we didn't come anywhere near playing to our potential in Newton last year, and I hope we're a lot better prepared this year than we were last. I expect you guys to be really good this year and I'm anxious to see how we stack up against y'all this year in Week 4.
  5. I've always felt like that's where schools like Newton and Kirbyville struggle against bigger schools. Their starting groups are competitive, but they fade as games move along and they have trouble lining up across from fresher bodies. The best athlete on the field isn't really the best anymore once he's worn out. I understand that it has to happen, though.
  6. I hate that... it always seems to me that the kids who play both ways have trouble finishing games strong, or making through the season uninjured. He'll do great no matter where he lines up.
  7. A. Thomas shined at linebacker last year. Is there anybody in particular that will be filling his spot at lb? We moved Trahan to qb from lb last year... we missed him on the defensive side.
  8. Andy Lara from BC will belong on this list before the season is out. He's going to excel in our system. He'll be regarded as highly as Draper before the season is done.
  9. That's more along the lines of my thoughts. Teams that execute without stupid penalties, losing tempers, etc. Its a shame that the word discipline has become a dog-whistle to some here. On the MMA boards calling a fighter "explosive" is judged by some to be the same as citicizing a teams lack of disciplined play over here.
  10. I like the way your post has been edited. Did you decided to walk it back or did some other reasonable person handle that for you?
  11. Ask the guy that ended up with Mrs. Dauphin's $$$$$.
  12. Bah.... I think our ranking is a joke with all of the kids that moved on. But since we're in front of the Tigres, I'll take it!
  13. I've pretty much broken the fuel tank loose on my trimmer by pushing the nozzle against the spout on the tank. Those big five gallon gas cans are worse. Every time I use mine I'm like, "Thanks, Obama!"
  14. I end up spilling more fuel with the new nozzles than I ever wasted with the old ones.
  15. Buying them new and registering them just makes sure that Big Brother will know where to pick yours up when the time comes. I'll stick to used ones.
  16. It's the next logical step... Since we're okay with corporate sponsorship of the "Trump Assassination" play as well as Kathy Griffin's "comedy," you can't be too surprised when people start taking shots at each other. I like the way that Trump was "causing all of the violence" during the campaign with this speeches, but having the President assassinated or beheaded in effigy is all just good clean fun and protected free speech and totally not connected to today's targeted violence.
  17. My favorite one that didn't make it was "Life ain't easy for a Sioux named Boy."
  18. Belichick on the sideline? No. Belichick for offseason, two-a-days and a scrimmage or two? Kirbyville by 14.
  19. For real... I've heard a few people mention that. Most families would be ready to scrap over discussing somebody in the family who ended things that way. Maybe times have changed, I dunno.
  20. No doubt he can be removed for doing something unlawful, but to this point I haven't seen anything to indicate that he's broken a rule, much less a law. He misled the news by saying the meeting with Reeves was nothing major, then it turns out it was a "resign or get fired" meeting. Dr. Wallis would defend his statement by saying that he was trying to spare the feelings of the family by leaving the bad stuff out when talking to the media. Here's a brainbender... the secretary is alleged to have told admin that Reeves had threatened to hurt himself if news of the affair got out. If that statement is true, then the secretary admitted that the affair occurred or was occurring. So, either the secretary admitted to the affair and expressed concern for Reeves, or Reeves never threatened to harm himself. Either way, Wallis is in the clear.
