  1. I agree. A few years ago there wasn't any real contact between teams other than the occassional chance meeting. With social media the kids have bulletin boards upon which to talk trash for months before a game. Since it's obviously going on and probably not about to stop, it'll be up to coaches, parents, and the kids themselves to learn how to act and then react to things that are said on social media. If you think about it, most of the big problems we've seen in our area this year have been started and usually aggravated on social media.
  2. Nah, it belongs to everybody... just like Obamacare did. My hope is that when there inevitably are problems with this new legislation, both sides can work together for the American people to make adjustments as needed. For seven years Obamacare was the golden calf that dems refused to admit had any shortcomings or changes needed.... despite rising premiums, crashing exchanges, closing hospitals and rising costs.
  3. I agree. I don't want anybody to think I'm blowing a dog-whistle, but that system will require a lot of disciplined play... and the kids over there have kinda gotten as far as they have on talent as opposed to solid play. I think if Tyler hadn't taken his talents to Silsbee and had a monster season, Silsbee would have lost another game or more. People would have been gathering diesel and matches in Smoketown. If they manage to harness that talent and play disciplined football, look out.
  4. I'm aware that it didn't start with President Obama. Unfortunately, that's what the free phones for those who can't buy their own have been labeled. The program did explode under Obamacare, though.
  5. I'm like everybody else that hasn't read the bill. I haven't heard much about cost- saving measures in the new plan. That was one of my big gripes about Obamacare. Everybody feels like healthcare costs are too high in the US. Instead of tackling cost AND expanding coverage to those who didn't have it, Obamacare just made sure that EVERYBODY could receive care that costs way too much... the costs are just passed on to the ones who are already trying. Want to help the healthcare system? Reroute the money that goes towards paying for Obamaphones towards Medicaid. You'd find out quickly just exactly where poor people's priorities are. There would be riots in the streets.
  6. As somebody who went to college and then spent YEARS in careers I didn't care for exclusively so that I could keep coverage on my family, I have a hard time supporting legislation that was crafted to benefit people who haven't made similar sacrifices, and is financed through cost increases that I have to soak up. Im not even the biggest fan of coverage for pre-existing conditions. How is it fair for some people to pay car insurance every month, but then the jerk who never bothers to buy insurance can run out and buy it AFTER he crashes into somebody? The real solution to the healthcare coverage crisis is to stop forcing medical providers to treat people who can't or won't pay. The system is flooded with people who don't have coverage and go straight to the ER for treatment (which costs a fortune over a DR visit). People know that the providers are obligated to treat them, yet the patient is under no similar obligation to pay. The system is rigged. Mix in runaway malpractice litigation and it's no wonder my family's coverage costs over a thousand per month, unless we actually need help... then it gets really expensive.
  7. I haven't heard that. But they've got enough talent to run anything they want. If they have a coach that is capable of implementing the offense. Does the HC or OC have a strong background with a triple option? Lastly, everybody has to block. It calls for a lot of discipline and there's no room for prima donnas at the skill position. I think it could be good for the Tigers the first year and beastly by year two, IF they embrace the change over there.
  8. I think that belief is a lot more prevalent than you can imagine. It's why so many people don't have a problem with what happened to that kid from OF down at Crystal.
  9. I haven't seen any news on the BISD incident. I have to assume that there's not a racial angle since the media isn't giving us daily updates like they do on the WOS situation.
  10. I've always heard that God laughs when He hears our plans.
  11. Lol... I thought the kid was from a "great family" and "raised to be a well-mannered young man" but the daddy wants my number? You're not helping your cause. These kids embraced a thuggish lifestyle and manner of behavior, as evidenced by the self-gloss "Smoketown." The fact that Silsbee gets in scraps every sport a few times a year happens because people are so jealous, according to Tiger fans. And when WOS gets in scraps it's only because they're playing Silsbee..:. Despite the fact that WOS is collecting more SCs than Silsbee. The kids who thug out today are the children of Tigers that didn't know how to control themselves, either. I still believe that the new AD and administration are both trying hard to fix the obvious culture problem over there. It's going to be an uphill fight with all of the parents over there, though. It's hard to convince a kid that their behavior is bad when their own parents don't have a problem with all of the garbage that accompanies some pretty good play.
  12. That's weird... I was in the visitor's stands at Silsbee vs. WOS back earlier this this fall when somebody wearing a maroon "Jones's Mom" T-shirt was trying to fight the whole crowd from Silsbee. That's not one of my usual made-up stories, it really happened. Like I said... it's amazing how some schools manage to get in fights, through no fault of their own, with every single team they face. It's about coaching, parents, and discipline.... or lack thereof. We've had our share of problems in BC.... Players getting ejected for punching people, brawling with Orangefield at the last ever Bayou Bowl, etc... I hope that the teams we face are noticing that there's been a not-so-subtle change in culture on the bayou. It starts at the top. FWIW, I think the new Silsbee football coach has his team heading in the right direction as well. He's taking a hard line against players that can't control themselves, and it will show up. Now it's up to the rest of the ISD to get with the program.
  13. Not in Silsbee, lol. [Hidden Content]
  14. Mark Moseley was an NFL MVP from Livingston. Can't think of another local program that can claim that.
  15. They were mixing it up with the kids from WOS after the 4x400 at the area meet. Verbal only, but n-words and curses for all. Not implying that either school was worse than the other.
  16. Everybody likes you better than Badsanta.
  17. I didn't go into detail earlier, but it's completely hypocritical and ironic that this fall WOS fans were unhappy that BC's Twitter artist ONLY got a month in alternative school and kicked off of the team for a while. No criminal charges were filed, nobody had to have surgery, and the incident happened off of school property. Fast forward a few months and Mustang faithful are out in front of the administration building protesting because the school is obligated to give these two young men an unfair punishment of, you guessed it, pretty much exactly why our kid got for creating a racist cartoon. Oh, how unfair! My prediction goes like this. The young mens' attorney will advise his client(s) to NOT attend alternative school, but rather file a civil lawsuit against the school, admin, etc. claiming that they have been adversely affected by the schools application of state law.
  18. 12 news is showing a protest going on today at WOS admin offices. You know... "innocent until proven guilty" and "no weapon formed against us shall prosper." These are the same exact people that thought the kid from BC deserved to be punished for his racist meme that kids from WOS posted all over the internet. Can somebody tell me what "no justice no sleep" means? It doesn't sound like they want justice for the Frillou kid. Maybe it means if the charges are dropped against these young men that the protestors will go home and go to sleep? I'm confused.
  19. CT better keep bringing home the hardware.... that's all I'm saying.
  20. It does kinda make you wonder who's pushing to have him sent over there to the alternative campus. I really thought that the school wouldn't go to the trouble of fighting the restraining order.
  21. I see. I had the area and regional meets confused.
  22. [Hidden Content] It looks like the restraining order that was keeping Morris Joseph out of alternative school and enabling him to participate in the area track meet has been rescinded because his attorney was unable to attend a hearing today. What a roller coaster for the kid. I don't think we've heard the last of this between now and the meet.
  23. Scary? My man looked like Gnarls Barkley in the prom pics I saw.
