  1. You don't understand. Somebody WHITE said the n-word. Everything else is justified.
  2. The nature of the kid's injuries will take the charges to a felony level, I believe.
  3. Technically it would be the 4th championship game in a row. But who's counting? I agree that they're going to be tough. Really tough. There's a lot of experience on that squad. If you think about it, in the last three years, BC seniors (3 year starters) played 33 games... 29 regular and 4 playoff games. WOS's senior class played in 48.... with a lot of games against way better competition than we faced. There are still a lot of kids on that squad that have a lot more experience than other kids their age. Great coaching, too. I just feel like that the group that is moving on was very, very special. I don't expect them to repeat again this year. I can also admit that I said the same thing two years ago after their SC loss and JD was about their only returning starter. I've been wrong before.
  4. I've wondered the same thing.... how can any one person be singled out at causing the injuries? It almost seems as if everybody who took part would be responsible. I think where it gets a little cloudy is the circumstances.... We're not talking about a casual dust-up between a couple of kids at the Zoo. This is a very serious attack, and the injuries sustained by the victim seem to demand punishment. Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but it's like the "fight" in LCM during the end of basketball season. Nobody would have been too upset or shocked by a good old-fashioned scrap during a basketball game. What got everybody excited was the footage of the kid from Silsbee attacking the unsuspecting LCM player yards away from the fight. Trying to pretend that incident was just a friendly knuckle duster, or this one was just a little tussle that got a little out of hand is seriously downplaying the seriousness of these attacks. Me? I've got more respect for the big guy if he literally smoked this kid and tried to apologize than I do for grown men that would continue to strike or kick an unconscious man. I don't care who you play football for or what your friends say about you.... you are a thug, and you might have a lot of talent but your character is absent. I wonder who all went through the kid's pockets while he was out?
  5. Odds on favorites to win the DC.... lots of talent moving on, though. I don't see them winning the SC because of the key pieces that won't be around. They still go undefeated in district and go 3-4 rounds, minimum.
  6. [Hidden Content] I had better luck using a computer than a smartphone. If I read correctly, one of MJ's relatives contacted the victim directly and said that MJ wanted to apologize. I guess he was mostly sorry until he realized that there might be consequences.
  7. I agree. The explanation presented in the affidavits makes the lady identification of DT and Rufus seem pretty solid. It seemed like the person that ID'd "D" gave an even more convincing ID based on recognizing "D" from before. It sounds like they have the most compelling evidence on MJ, especially if he reached out to the victim afterwards. It would also indicate remorse, which is actually in the big guy's favor. The other thing that could work against the suspects is that Galveston County is going to investigate and prosecute the matter. I'd like the young mens' chances better if they were being tried in Orange County. The severity of the kid's injuries will almost require substantial punishment, I'm afraid. If it turns out that a slur was the trigger for the attack, how ironic is it that each of the attackers likely owns a library of tunes that feature that word? I hope it was worth it.
  8. It would be nice to find out he wasn't even at the beach that day.
  9. If I understood the affidavits correctly, she watched video taken around the time of the attack and pointed out the guys that she saw doing the kicking. Somebody from Orange identified the people the lady pointed out in the video. She didn't know him or that he played for Alabama. But I'll try to follow your reasoning. Lady tries to jam DT because he plays for Alabama... why is she trying to frame the other kid?
  10. I guess it's the "CSI" generation that we live in. In the old days an eyewitness's testimony was enough to get a conviction. Today we feel like DNA/video evidence is necessary to convict someone of a crime.
  11. [Hidden Content] The links works better if you are on a computer instead of a phone. Interesting read, detailing witness statements given regarding the incident. It sounds like they have quite a bit of "evidence" against Morris Joseph.... mutliple people claim to have witnessed the initial skirmish between MJ and Frillou and it sounds like he might have reached out to Frillou after the attack, if I understand what I read. Rufus and DT are singled out by what sounds to be a single witness (a mom) as kicking Frillou after he was injured. The last guy "D" was identified by someone who knew him previously as kicking Frillou after he was down. Keeping in mind that these are just affidavits detailing witness' accounts of the event, I feel like they all could be in some serious trouble. The affidavits also indicate that there are videos of the events, and it'll be interesting to see how it all works out.
  12. I've been waiting to see some of the actual evidence that is the basis for these arrests. I know they've released the probable cause affidavits, but I can't seem to locate them online. Local news links aren't cooperating. Does anybody have a link?
  13. A lot of it depends on how hard the young guys are working in the offseason. If they have gotten the work in this spring and summer we'll be in the mix come district. Lots of big holes to fill, though. I feel good about the skill positions on offense and our secondary will return almost as a group. I'm hoping the linebackers (mostly seniors) will come into their own this year. We really missed having dominating forces back there last year. I think we'll have lots of answers by week five. WOS, Newton, and Jasper should tell us who we are. We could be playing for the DC again as a best case scenario, but I don't see worst case having us miss the playoffs.
  14. Good post, but "no." it probably would not have made the news if it was four white kids beating another white. It absolutely wouldn't have made the news if it was four blacks beating another black kid... unless he was homosexual. The media is in the business of selling advertising, and racial animus always works. It always sells more advertising if people can identify the person who screwed up. Does anybody care if I get caught cheating on my wife? Nope. Let the televangelist get caught stepping out and see what happens. Is it fair? Nope. Is it always going to happen that way? Yup. Is it pointless just to point out the unfairness? Yup. But the problem isn't whether or not the media is being selective with their coverage... the problem is that some kid got his face crushed. We heard the same things month before last after the brawl at the Silsbee/LCM game. If you don't want to have your mugshot on ESPN, don't do dumb stuff. The thing to look at is how we, as a collective group of citizens, family members, coaches, etc... have raised young humans with so little decency and lack of accountability. We've stepped back and praised our kids' successes while overlooking their shortcomings, and they get their values from "worldstar" and twitter instead of their own family or church family. I don't want to single a kid out, but... I wonder how many Silsbee Tiger fans explained to their kids just how cowardly that attack in LCM was... and how many others just complained that the kid got benched for the year. Or how many of our parents made excuses for our twitter artist and blamed the publicity instead of focusing on the fact that what the kid did was inexcusable? I hope those responsible get punished and anyone wrongly accused does not.
  15. Dang. I wish kids understood that MOST peoples' reaction when witnessing violent acts isn't to whip out a phone and laughingly scream "worldstar!" Being gifted with obvious physical talents is also a curse. If you smack a girl in a restaurant someplace, you're a piece of crap. If you're a D1 running back and you smack a girl in a restaurant someplace, you are probably the biggest piece of crap on the planet. If you run up and punch a kid in the back of the head at a basketball game, you are a coward. If you are a D1 prospect and you run up and punch the smallest kid on the other team in the back of the head, you are even worse than a coward. Also, people need to stop rushing to defend young men's character in these situations. "Well, I know Ray Rice and I can assure you that he is NOT a thug." Ummmmmmm... The video indicates the opposite. Now it's up to Ray to work hard and convince society that he's not the person that his actions have portrayed him to be. A lifetime of good deeds can be overshadowed by five seconds of grainy surveillance video. Its the same theory that USED to make hitting girls something to be ashamed of. That's not the case anymore. My unsolicited opinion? I suspect that the "victim" might not be so lily-clean and innocent of any wrongdoing. I also think that sometimes people could use a good man-to-man settling of a dispute. I think those sentiments don't compare to a situation where three or four athletes of this caliber beat a young man to this extent. I hope there is evidence that proves who all is responsible and who all is wrongly accused.
  16. I feel bad that so much of our society has no character when it comes to how they treat one another. It's funny to kids today when they "sneak" somebody. I shake my head at the character of a group of 4 D1 level talented kids that would (allegedly)think that pile on another kid.... and then their friends would rejoice on social media. It's not just one race... it's prominent across the board.
  17. We thought this would be a good year to let the rest of y'all win a few. Good game for the Tigres.
  18. Heck ya! I wonder if the game will be played at historic Larry Ward Stadium in BC?
  19. I agree. I don't see any sure bets this year, but you have to like Silsbee's odds. I'm not convinced that LCM won't get their act together and make some noise this year. What a difference a year makes. Before last season you had to think that Silsbee, Navasota, Huffman, BC, and possibly LCM would be really stout teams. At the end of the season it was more like BC, Silsbee, and everybody else. Huffman should be back in contention this year, but I don't really expect much improvement from the Rattlers. I think you guys will be off a bit from last year, but I think we will, too. I think it's safe to say that it's anybody's DC at this point.
  20. wasnt there a kid after Reed but before Jones? I was thinking jones got the spot over somebody. Will Adonis primarily run the ball or play LB like last year? Y'all are like us this year... lots of questions. Most of your lines are returning though, and that could be really good for the Tigers.
  21. I'm just kidding. I'm excited that the Tigers are playing in the state tourney this weekend, and I hope they can bring home the SC.
