If I understood the affidavits correctly, she watched video taken around the time of the attack and pointed out the guys that she saw doing the kicking. Somebody from Orange identified the people the lady pointed out in the video. She didn't know him or that he played for Alabama. But I'll try to follow your reasoning. Lady tries to jam DT because he plays for Alabama... why is she trying to frame the other kid?

[Hidden Content] The links works better if you are on a computer instead of a phone. Interesting read, detailing witness statements given regarding the incident. It sounds like they have quite a bit of "evidence" against Morris Joseph.... mutliple people claim to have witnessed the initial skirmish between MJ and Frillou and it sounds like he might have reached out to Frillou after the attack, if I understand what I read. Rufus and DT are singled out by what sounds to be a single witness (a mom) as kicking Frillou after he was injured. The last guy "D" was identified by someone who knew him previously as kicking Frillou after he was down. Keeping in mind that these are just affidavits detailing witness' accounts of the event, I feel like they all could be in some serious trouble. The affidavits also indicate that there are videos of the events, and it'll be interesting to see how it all works out.

A lot of it depends on how hard the young guys are working in the offseason. If they have gotten the work in this spring and summer we'll be in the mix come district. Lots of big holes to fill, though. I feel good about the skill positions on offense and our secondary will return almost as a group. I'm hoping the linebackers (mostly seniors) will come into their own this year. We really missed having dominating forces back there last year. I think we'll have lots of answers by week five. WOS, Newton, and Jasper should tell us who we are. We could be playing for the DC again as a best case scenario, but I don't see worst case having us miss the playoffs.

Good post, but "no." it probably would not have made the news if it was four white kids beating another white. It absolutely wouldn't have made the news if it was four blacks beating another black kid... unless he was homosexual. The media is in the business of selling advertising, and racial animus always works. It always sells more advertising if people can identify the person who screwed up. Does anybody care if I get caught cheating on my wife? Nope. Let the televangelist get caught stepping out and see what happens. Is it fair? Nope. Is it always going to happen that way? Yup. Is it pointless just to point out the unfairness? Yup. But the problem isn't whether or not the media is being selective with their coverage... the problem is that some kid got his face crushed. We heard the same things month before last after the brawl at the Silsbee/LCM game. If you don't want to have your mugshot on ESPN, don't do dumb stuff. The thing to look at is how we, as a collective group of citizens, family members, coaches, etc... have raised young humans with so little decency and lack of accountability. We've stepped back and praised our kids' successes while overlooking their shortcomings, and they get their values from "worldstar" and twitter instead of their own family or church family. I don't want to single a kid out, but... I wonder how many Silsbee Tiger fans explained to their kids just how cowardly that attack in LCM was... and how many others just complained that the kid got benched for the year. Or how many of our parents made excuses for our twitter artist and blamed the publicity instead of focusing on the fact that what the kid did was inexcusable? I hope those responsible get punished and anyone wrongly accused does not.

Dang. I wish kids understood that MOST peoples' reaction when witnessing violent acts isn't to whip out a phone and laughingly scream "worldstar!" Being gifted with obvious physical talents is also a curse. If you smack a girl in a restaurant someplace, you're a piece of crap. If you're a D1 running back and you smack a girl in a restaurant someplace, you are probably the biggest piece of crap on the planet. If you run up and punch a kid in the back of the head at a basketball game, you are a coward. If you are a D1 prospect and you run up and punch the smallest kid on the other team in the back of the head, you are even worse than a coward. Also, people need to stop rushing to defend young men's character in these situations. "Well, I know Ray Rice and I can assure you that he is NOT a thug." Ummmmmmm... The video indicates the opposite. Now it's up to Ray to work hard and convince society that he's not the person that his actions have portrayed him to be. A lifetime of good deeds can be overshadowed by five seconds of grainy surveillance video. Its the same theory that USED to make hitting girls something to be ashamed of. That's not the case anymore. My unsolicited opinion? I suspect that the "victim" might not be so lily-clean and innocent of any wrongdoing. I also think that sometimes people could use a good man-to-man settling of a dispute. I think those sentiments don't compare to a situation where three or four athletes of this caliber beat a young man to this extent. I hope there is evidence that proves who all is responsible and who all is wrongly accused.

I feel bad that so much of our society has no character when it comes to how they treat one another. It's funny to kids today when they "sneak" somebody. I shake my head at the character of a group of 4 D1 level talented kids that would (allegedly)think that pile on another kid.... and then their friends would rejoice on social media. It's not just one race... it's prominent across the board.

We thought this would be a good year to let the rest of y'all win a few. Good game for the Tigres.

Heck ya! I wonder if the game will be played at historic Larry Ward Stadium in BC?

I agree. I don't see any sure bets this year, but you have to like Silsbee's odds. I'm not convinced that LCM won't get their act together and make some noise this year. What a difference a year makes. Before last season you had to think that Silsbee, Navasota, Huffman, BC, and possibly LCM would be really stout teams. At the end of the season it was more like BC, Silsbee, and everybody else. Huffman should be back in contention this year, but I don't really expect much improvement from the Rattlers. I think you guys will be off a bit from last year, but I think we will, too. I think it's safe to say that it's anybody's DC at this point.

wasnt there a kid after Reed but before Jones? I was thinking jones got the spot over somebody. Will Adonis primarily run the ball or play LB like last year? Y'all are like us this year... lots of questions. Most of your lines are returning though, and that could be really good for the Tigers.

I'm just kidding. I'm excited that the Tigers are playing in the state tourney this weekend, and I hope they can bring home the SC.

I don't want to laugh too hard... it won't be long before the natives get restless. It just always seems to happen that way. -

Negative. If I'm not mistaken, there MIGHT be one or two returning on defense. All of the offensive front were seniors. -

The big RB is graduating. The kid who's replacing him should be just fine. Honestly, the line had a lot to do with Draper's rushing success up the middle. It's going to come down to how well a young line can step up. The skill positions on offense shouldn't miss a beat if the line gels. I expect to see a LOT of sophomores starting on the lines in 2017. -

Winters graduates this spring, doesn't he? I wasn't sure about that. I feel like the 4th team won't be much better than the 5th team, but I honestly don't know who will finish where. It's not impossible that Navasota drops further and misses altogether.... It's also not impossible that they make respectable finish in district, either. I just haven't really heard of any big changes coming from LCM, and other than us, I don't see anybody potentially falling off big-time. Your QB was showing a lot of promise last year once they opened up the offense for him.... is he going to be coming back? Our guys are going to be YOUNG next year, but will be in their 3rd year under Dubois' system. We really need to develop a corp of linebackers capable of shutting down offenses. If we can do that, we should be okay. With Hunter Denton, Max Baker, and Andy Lara toting the ball, and the expected return of young Dubois at QB, I think we're ok as far as talent running the ball goes. Skinner will be fine at QB instead of Dubois if that's what happens. Practically all of the O-line AND D-line were seniors this year. The secondary is mostly intact. Line play will be the key in whether or not we're contending for a DC or fighting for a playoff spot. -

1. Bridge City 2. Silsbee 3. Navasota 4. Huffman 5. LiCk 'eM 6. Cleveland Obvious homer pick, but BC will really need some kids to step up and replace a good senior class if they hope to compete for a DC in 2017. Silsbee will be good, and probably compete for the DC despite losing Tyler and Jones. I expect Huffman to return to the postseason, and expect Navasota to improve slightly over last year. I think Cleveland and LiCk 'eM both miss the postseason. The top four are picked honestly in no particular order. You could see any of the teams land anywhere in the top four. It's crazy the difference a year can make. Last year you could look at this district and figure it to be one of the toughest to advance to the playoffs in... 5 of the 6 teams would likely move on in most other districts. This year doesn't seem like the district will be as tough across the board. -
Silsbee vs Argyle 4A State Semi Final

Exactly the same.... except Silsbee hasn't won one yet. Or ever. Pump the brakes, Tiger fans.... y'all were picking yourselves to win state in football this year, too. -

Referendum ballot to split 5A into divisions passes
CardinalBacker replied to NHSBulldogFan's topic in High School Football
There's nothing like being able to sit in the stands in BC and see the lights at WOS or Orangefield (who are no longer in our district) and heading off to Navasota for a district matchup.
