Hunter was state qualifier last year, but I don't remember exactly which event. Was it 100 or 200? I know that Barnes is fast, fast. Didn't he go to the state meet as well?

*Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!*

I think it'll be close, too. It'll come down to turnovers and penalties, IMO. I'm anxious to see if the Tigres will be able to put A. Thomas and Tyler both on the field. It'd be a shame if one or both were physically unable to to go.

I saw that this will be the Blitz Game of the Week......

UIL to send preseason 5A split to referendum
CardinalBacker replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
I vote "yes" so PAM can get back to losing to teams their own size. -
More or less.

Should be a good game. I think we'll be able to move the ball on Silsbee, and we aren't going to shut down Silsbee's run game either. We've got to do our best to slow the Silsbee rushing attack down and not make stupid, drive-killing mistakes. Of course I believe that we'll win on Friday, but I wouldn't give any points, lol. Both teams have punched their tickets to the playoffs, and you have to believe that the winner of this game will be the odds-on favorite to win district. Good luck.

Bridge City 54 Little Cypress-Mauriceville 28/FINAL

Winters is a horse. I hate that y'all down have more kids on your team, as many kids as y'all have enrolled. 41-21 BC, :35 left in the third. BC ball after an LCM fumble. -

When my mother-in-law says "we do that al lot, don't we?" after our third false start, you know we aren't playing with much discipline. -

Exciting game so far, huh? -
Nah.... some of our points were gifts. LCM is going to give us a good game, and if we come out sloppy (like we have done in the past), we'll be headed back over Cow Bayou with an "L." Also, if Winters is able to run all over us on Friday, you can bet money that Silsbee will do it to us as well... worse, though. This game will tell us a lot.
-
It's a little early to call it a "must win," but if LCM loses tonight they'll have to take 2 out of three from Huffman, Navasota, or Cleveland.... that's a tall order if you've already lost to Silsbee and BC. Same thing goes for us. An LCM loss would put us needing to beat Silsbee, Navasota or Huffman to make the playoffs. LCM17 was saying something about switching back to the slot T after last week. I assumed he was joking, but was he? And where is LCM17?
-
I don't remember that, but I hope they were kidding. The game was a lot closer than the score ended up being last year when we played the bears.
-
LCM17 is typically the only LCM poster on here, and he's been strangely silent this week. I expect the Cards to sneak out with a win over the bears, but it won't be easy. im surprised at how little excitement there's been about this game.

I'm picking the cards in a pretty close one. LCM isn't going to roll over for us. If our defense comes up with a few stops early we should be okay. That and our offense has to keep the ball moving. we should have all of our defense on the field this week. I think we'll be alright. It's pretty much a "loser stays home in November" matchup. A BC loss would have us needing to take 2 out of 3 from Silsbee, Navasota, or Huffman. Let's punch our ticket to the playoffs this Friday and then fight for the DC from here out. GO CARDS!!!!!!!

And they beat me to it by seven minutes!!! Ok to delete or merge.

This week's matchup between the Bridge City Cardinals and the LCM Battlin' Bears has some serious playoff implications. The loser of this game will find themselves with a serious climb to actually make the playoffs. The Cardinals have been making fewer mistakes (unforced) on offense, and all of the defense should be back on the field Friday. Of course I'm going to pick BC by a touchdown or two. What do y'all think?

Top 5 Runningbacks in SETX?
CardinalBacker replied to eagleswoodville#1's topic in High School Football
But most H.S. backs don't have a intramural team like y'all played last week on their schedule. Tyler is good.... I think he's the best in the area. But last week's numbers were a joke. It's like trying to add in yardage from your scrimmages, too. -
Bridge City V.S Cleveland ** DISTRICT OPENER**
CardinalBacker replied to BC Cardinal97's topic in High School Football
We were missing both starting corners and a starting safety when we played Newton. Those guys are responsible for fielding kicks and punts as well. Everybody should be back this week, or so I understand.- 22 replies

I haven't watched LCM yet this year. Silsbee's D looked good against WOS... If they play that kind of defense AND LCM can't slow down Silsbee's run game, it'll be a long night for the Bears. It should be a good game.

Bridge City V.S Cleveland ** DISTRICT OPENER**
CardinalBacker replied to BC Cardinal97's topic in High School Football
Cleveland gave us fits last year. If you're them, and you have to beat two teams to get into the playoffs... I'm guessing we're on their short list of potential wins. Everybody should be healthy and if we're focused, we should win this Friday... I'm not going to pretend I'm not a little nervous.- 22 replies

Question about PAM's student numbers regarding football
CardinalBacker replied to PA4Real's topic in High School Football
Probably right... I think we're destined to stay right where we are unless they do some major restructuring of the current classifications. We'll keep growing just enough to stay ahead of any increases in the lower limit. But look at Splendora... they were the biggest school in our district and didn't win a single district game in two seasons.... moved up to 5A and are now having some success. You just can't tell. How is y'all's band looking under new direction? I'm not as excited about our show as I have been the last few years. -
Question about PAM's student numbers regarding football
CardinalBacker replied to PA4Real's topic in High School Football
There's no good answer. We're the smallest school in our district since Jasper dropped down. You could add the entire Newton student body to ours and we still wouldn't be as big as our cross-town district rival, LCM. You just have to deal with it and play who's in front of you.
