In all fairness, WOS's kicker probably had to ice his foot after this past Friday.

Bridge city, next week and beyond.

That's the truth... on two separate drives we picked up decent first down yardage, then ran a pitch outside with the edge set and what appeared to be daylight in the secondary, only to drop the pitch and have to fall on the ball with close to ten yards lost.... 1st and 10, 2nd and 6, 3rd and 15.... we just couldn't convert third and long on that defense... there aren't many third and long plays in our playbook. The Center/QB exchange has been a problem since the season began. I think we were down to maybe three fumbles on that exchange this week. It's hard to play 4 yards and a cloud of dust when you lose a down to fumbling, if not losing possession. I don't know how it's fixed, but it needs to be. We're shooting ourselves in the foot. I think the team will bounce back this week and match up well with Newton. Two consecutive byes, then we open district play with Cleveland and LCM. They would seem to be our most favorable district matchups, but the last part of our schedule is a grinder. HH will be good, and it looks like Silsbee is starting to find their identity. It all comes down to how the team overcomes the distraction that they created for themselves last week, and if we are able to replace the missing part of our secondary. It will be interesting to see. -
Very true.... I'd expect this to be a good game, but I believe BC will escape from Newton with a hard-fought win this Friday. Especially if you guys have that many key players out. Either way, I'm hoping for a cleanly-played, injury-free game this week. I'm also making a vow to refrain from voicing my hatred of all things Newton-related this year. I appreciate all of the Newton fans being on their best behavior so I don't have to come back here and verbally assault you all with my considerable wit and remarkable sarcasm. Go Cards!

No, they were saying that KJ took over the game. -

Yeah, it was strange. Our #4 protested the no-call, then Dubois took it up with the ref and line judge. They ended up throwing a flag long after the play was over. It seemed like the ref asked the line judge what he'd seen, and then was like "you should have thrown the flag," so he did. I honestly didn't have the best view of what happened, other than at a glance it looked like 4 got smoked while the ball was in the air.... But I can't swear to it. Not that it made any difference, lol. -
Nice job, Tigers.

Post game thoughts... I knew that WOS is great this year, and we knew what we needed to do if we had any chance of winning. We obviously did not do those things. WOS's D is filthy, and the last thing we needed to do is kick over the hornet's nest. I'm a homer all of the way, but I have no problem with the way the game was played by WOS. My hat is off to the young men from WOS. Not only did they play a fantastic game, but they were very, VERY sportsmanlike in what could have been an ugly game. I can't overstate what a fine group of competitors that proved themselves to be. The postgame pleasantries between Coach Dubois and some of our players reaching out to the victim of this weeks racial hatred, and his receptiveness to their gestures was a great thing, I believe. WOS's field goal game needs some work before they get deep into the playoffs. Otherwise I don't see any weak spots. We need to throw all of our cell phones into Cow Bayou and stay the hell off of social media. We'll be a better team for having played a highly motivated WOS team. I've got to reiterate what a fine group of young men are taking the field for WOS this year. Y'all should be proud. I'm glad I can go back to being a WOS fan after this disaster of a week and game. -
It's definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm... We've been looking forward to this test since it was first mentioned last year. Praying for an injury-free, clean game for both squads. If we can hang around we have a chance. We've just got to keep the Stangs out of the endzone and take our sweet time getting there ourselves. Sounds easy enough, huh? Go Cards!

I don't think anybody really needs that kind of stuff right now. Good luck this evening.

I think you might have misunderstood his point... He's talking about punishing the kids who had nothing to do with the situation at hand. People are calling for BC to close home games to fans, etc. That would punish kids who did nothing, their families, and the community at large.
-
It's true. I've also heard rumors that the expulsion itself would prohibit the kids from returning at all. It's really just a time to wait and see. BCISD is well aware that all eyes are on them.
-
I understand that both the creator AND sender have both been suspended from school for three days, and that rules out this Friday. I am unaware of anything further that would be handed down by Dubois. I would be surprised to see either back on the field before October 6th.
-
Me, too. Let us know if you learn anything.
-
It would be awesome. With all of the negativity surrounding these issues nationwide, we have the opportunity to show how these situations (which shouldn't happen) can be handled.
-
It's known who it was. Off the team, allegedly. Team leaders and coach Dubois responded instantly. I'm told the kid created and posted the meme in a group message that included some, not all, of the team. It wasn't warmly received there. Somebody took a screenshot and forwarded it to a kid from WOS. The rest is history. I hope it got a few laughs, because everybody else is going to pay for it now.
-
This is so utterly ridiculous. i don't even know what to say. I hope the kid that was targeted is ok... He damned sure didn't deserve that. I can't apologize for anybody but myself, but I am truly embarrassed and sorry that this happened. I hope that everybody that is offended knows that I don't feel that way, and I think that is true for most of my BC neighbors.
-
Can you fill me in, please?
-
But we scored, right? Didn't we get a FG or two? I was thinking it was unofficially 13-14 WOS. I can't remember.
-
WOS has never been beaten. Ever.
-
C'mon over.... There's usually not a lot of room around me but we'll squeeze you in.
-
Nevermind.

We didn't have any problems scoring during our scrimmage vs WOS last year. I know, it's just a scrimmage, the stangs have gotten better, the field was wet, the WR didn't go where Jack wanted him to, blah, blah, blah. I hope the kids over there are reading this crap and believing that we don't have a chance.

We're due? Honestly, this is a special BC group. Nobody cares about the past, but this group of BC kids and the same group of WOS kids have exchanged wins and losses through pee-wee and junior high until the D1 and D2 split put us in separate districts. The WOS kids continued to develop through junior high and high school. We really didn't do a whole lot until Coach Dubois took over last year. I distinctly remember watching the teams warm up before the 7th grade matchup between these two (which we won) and seeing the WOS kids doing back-pedaling drills, blocking drills, etc.... while our kids were doing back-bends and otherwise jacking around in the other end zone. I experienced actual dread as you could tell that the WOS kids were being coached while ours were just getting bigger. On one hand it's been great to watch all of the success that this group of Mustangs have had over the last few years. I don't think WOS has a better second fanbase than BC. It's also been a total drag to know that we SHOULD be able to compete with them if we'd continued to steadily develop the way that they did. I guess it's more of a question of whether or not our efforts are too little and too late. The difference between this team and past BC teams is that it's a talented bunch. They've had lots of success before public school coaching, and also since Dubois came back to town. People can moan and groan about the Slot T, but it suits our personnel, and Dubois's system has proven itself to be effective.... perhaps more effective than a lot of other programs that run the Slot T. Besides that, these BC kids HAVE sent the same WOS kids home crying before. They're not AT ALL intimidated by the Stangs, ala LCM. No offense to Chris17 (the only LCM poster here). If the stangs go up 21-0, it's over. Duh. But if we draw first blood and Stangs realize that they WON'T be pulling the starters at any point, or even find themselves trailing.... BC will not let them up. How many times will the #1 ranked, defending state champs (after 2 SC appearances), who you've beaten before, show up in your house and give you the opportunity to make your name? The Cards have nothing to lose and everything to gain. And they're hungry. C'mon, Friday.

Yeah, that's flattering but I definitely don't think we've earned that kind of praise yet.
