  1. Boy, you make it sound bad for yourselves. Sounds like y'all need to get used to early exits.
  2. Dubois little brother will be starting. He took all of the JV snaps and has been in the system for years. He brings more of a passing threat than the older brother did. Dearing will be missed. However, Dearing wasn't a All-World Baylor Commit like Silsbee lost. Our entire O-line is returning... and they were very underrated as a unit last season. Silsbee fan is more than willing to proclaim that their departed QB was the best in SETX.... losing him will hurt a lot more than losing big Dubois. Our horse running back is returning as a senior, and the rest of the backfield should be healthy this year. Silsbee's fast offense doesn't mean alot when their defense gave up points as fast as the offense could score them. Whichever team figures out how to play defense will be fighting Navasota for the DC. At least that's how I see it. But Huffman definitely needs to be in the conversation, and it's not impossible for LCM and/or Cleveland to get their act together and make some noise in the district.
  3. Just being from Livingston is penalty enough.
  4. If they end up taking district, it won't be because the schedule helped them.... I think Silsbee, Huffman and BC will be their biggest tests this year, and they've got the Tigers and the Cards both as looooooooong distance road games. It's going to be a great year for tackle football!
  5. ....and they'll be leaving for BC right after 1st period ends.
  6. They're normally very talented, but seem to fall short of great.... last year being an exception. All jokes aside, most of the time when other teams beat Silsbee, it's not because they had better athletes, but the opponents would do a better job of playing as a team, limiting mistakes, and avoiding ridiculous penalties....especially pointless personal fouls like the one in our game where our kid scored and then somebody from Silsbee then smoked him 5 yards into the endzone. First personal foul of many. No offense, but underperforming is more of a tradition at Silsbee than quality wins. It's flashes of greatness mixed in with way too much ridiculousness over there. I hope a new guy can straighten that out.
  7. I think it's a good coaching opportunity, and contrary to what the locals believe, a disciplinarian could make some great improvements over there. I'll be surprised if the replacement isn't a homer, though.
  8. Ozensfinest is just a little jelly that he couldn't be "WOSfinest." "Let the hate flow through you, Son.......... Good..........Good.........."
  9. JD and the 4a D2 stangs did up DT and then 4a D1 Tigres. Did y'all stats worshippers forget games that WOS had when they were kicking FGs on first and goals? if Silsbee's defense could have stopped anybody, maybe DT would have gotten benched a lot, too. The voters got it right. JD won the head to head AND the state championship.
  10. It's the most valuable player award.... Not the highest total yards awards, or the most tds award, or the fastest runner award. JD got the SC, and DT didn't. Heck, in a head to head matchup, JD beat DT. In a real game, JD got the W over DT. I don't see what's so hard for the Silsbillies to understand.
  11. JD led a smaller school to a win over DT and the Tigers. That's the stat that mattered.
  12. Now we know where McGallion is headed. I mean, why would they settle for Fedora when you can have SILSBEE's coach?
  13. If you care to re-read, I didn't brand any person a racist. I discussed racist statements. I feel bad that we live in a society where people saying "a person of color should get that job" is ok, but saying "a white person should get that job" is a racial atrocity. Or saying "Blacks don't make good QBs" is racist, but saying "a team can't win unless they have black players" is justified. The statements are the same. It might be rare to find an all-white team that wins on occasion, but it's not hard at all to find hundreds of diverse teams that lose all of the time. That kinda invalidates the whole "you gotta have black athletes to win" argument.
  14. Here's the irony and the sad shape of the country that we live in.... Posters say that "you can't win without black athletes"... but that is a racist statement. The fact that the poster doesn't even realize how racist and marginalizing his statement is indicates a very small-minded approach to a very big world with a lot of complex ideas. The posters have no problem, however, recognizing implied racism in a statement about building low income housing to attract better athletes. "They" must mean minorties, and therefore the statement is racist, according to the simple-minded. If you have a problem with the insinuation that building low income housing will attract minorties, then you should also have a problem with the statement about needing black athletes to win in SETX. I think the argument about "needing black athletes to win" is just as stupid as saying "black athletes don't make good QBs..." To further illustrate this point, the Silsbee coaching thread should be mentioned. A poster mentioned how he felt the next coach should be a "person of color." That, in and of itself, is just as racist of a statement as somebody saying they "really need to hire another white guy." However, the small-minded racist will justify one statement at the detriment of the other because of his own personal beliefs... at the end of the day, both statements are racist. They really need to hire the person that is going to be the best at properly motivating the kids to win the most games possible.... whether he or she is white, black, or spotted.
  15. Don't tell anybody, but we have a plan, too. They're building another new low income apartment complex in BC and there's a new low to mid housing project being proposed. If you build it, "they" will come, lol.
  16. It doesn't take a genius to figure out it's bad business to spend 20 million or so dollars on facilites so that a dozen athletic kids get a scholarship. Want to go to college for free? Check out the GI Bill. The Army could always use some athletes. No way out my you-know-what.
  17. They pitched a bond issue last year in BC that was soundly defeated by the voters. Needless to say, we still didn't have a PA system at the football stadium this season. Beaumont ISD has the superb setup in these parts. How's that working out for them?
  18. Does that mean Winters won't be transferring to BC?
  19. Most of the Kountze posters hang out in the basketball forums. Kountze hasn't had a lot of success over the years, which is even more disappointing considering that they had D1 Baylor commit Grayland Arnold. They support Jesus, not necessarily the football team.
  20. I think we'll be ready. Don't forget about Huffman. And you really shouldn't sleep on Livingston. Or Cleveland, for that matter. We're the smallest school in our district, but you'll never know it once the season starts. The goal is the district championship, and Navasota joining 10-4A-D1 will only make the title that much more special. We've got WOS in Week 2, and you guys in Week 4.
  21. That week 11 matchup ought to be a barn-burner.
