Far be it from me to take sides, but… My understanding of the situation is that a kid from Burkeville (possibly an ejected player?) was in the stands behind the HD bench and started the incident, escalating it by taking a swing at an HD Player. The footage then shows multiple HD players heading into the stands punching that kid and possibly others. Then you see the Burkeville players come into frame from the right and join the melee. The balance of the footage shows a scrum on the floor with at least two parents punching a BVille kid…. Not trying to break up the fight, but joining in. The punishment handed to HD is far too light in my opinion. But it’s kind of hard to punish different kids next year for what these kids/parents did this year. The outcome(s) would have been totally different if the HD kid who got punched had stepped away. Even if HE retaliated and got punished, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But when pretty much the entire HD team (and community) got into it, the situation changed. If HD players and fans knew how to act, they’d have a game to play next week. But they don’t, and that’s deservedly so. They’ve got no one to blame but themselves.

So… one of the punishments for having a DWI is losing your license for a year. Two guys get DWIs, but one of them has never had a license. You’re arguing it’s unfair that drunk HD (who had a license) loses his license for a year, while drunk B(ville) isn’t affected because he didn’t have a license anyways. The fact is this. If your team wants to go all “Malice in the Palace,” you’re done for the year. If you’re dumb enough to mix it up with a school who isn’t worried about missing the playoffs, that’s just compounded ignorance. The fact that y’all keep arguing that punishments handed out identically are somehow unfair because it affects one team worse than the other is just female energy.

Ticket for speeding is $250. To a rich guy it’s a joke… he’ll drop that playing a round of golf today. To a mom whose lights are being shut off tomorrow, that $250 ticket is soul-crushing. They both got the same punishment, it just stings a little bit worse if you’re HD. And maybe next time the parents/fans/etc at HD will keep their dumb butts in the stands where they belong.

Nope…. The punishment is the same. Season is over for both. It just stings a little worse for HD. They played a stupid game and both went all in… HD just shoved more to the center of the table. It’s too late to cry about the stakes when cards are all face up.

They got the same punishment that HD did. No playoffs. It’s like this… two guys go to jail for a month. One of them was homeless and the other one a working man. The homeless guy gets a roof over his head, three meals, a day, and a mattress to sleep on. Net win. The working man loses his job and his truck gets repossessed while he’s in the can…. But the punishment was the same. Fair is where you go to eat a corn dog and kiss a pig. HD had more to lose and fought anyways-that just dumb.

Good call by the UIL… HD’s players, students, and fans don’t deserve a trip to the playoffs. “But they started it” doesn’t get you a pass for your own terrible behavior.

What an ugly incident. My opinion is that the SEC should ban HD from postseason play based on the behavior of the team and the fans. I think Burkeville deserves the same punishment, but it’s irrelevant since they weren’t playoff bound anyways. It doesn’t matter who started it when the entire gym is fighting.

Well… with a basic education you’d realize that the inflation was caused by Trump‘s deficit spending before and during COVID, and that Biden helped to calm inflation down-it makes sense. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if history repeats itself.

Don’t you remember? Trump is going to cut the taxes we pay and make up the shortage by placing tariffs on goods coming into the US. Except (surprise!) the tariffs won’t be a factor and all we’re going to do is explode our debt with more deficit spending caused by ignorant cuts in tax revenue exchanged for votes. I know y’all won’t do it, but you should brush up on your history. In the 1920s our nation was burdened down by bad fiscal policies, our debt had exploded, and our leaders decided that the easiest path out of the mess we’d created was to implement tariffs on other nations. The Smoot-Hawkey Tariff act of 1930 was signed into law and the Great Depression was worsened and prolonged by all accounts. [Hidden Content] The tariffs were never Trump’s plan, tax cuts for the rich and corporations were. He’s not stupid… he knows that the tariffs would greatly damage our economy. But he promised them as a means to offset the cost of his tax cutting plan. The beauty of his scheme is that his followers see this all as a victory. “See?!! All he had to do was threaten tariffs and those other countries all caved! America!!!” When in fact it was all a shell game designed to implement more tax cuts that will undoubtedly result in an explosion in our debt.

I noticed that in real time. The talking heads suggested that it was a timing issue- it was already 12:01 and it was supposed to happen at 12. I don’t know if that’s true.

Yeah… two thoughts from today. The grownups we at the inauguration today… Biden and Harris were front row, acting like true leaders… not pouting on a plane out of town like Trump did four years ago. As I’m watching Trump right now insulting Cheney, etc in his first presidential address. I hope y’all are ready for four years of complete insanity and retribution, not progress. For all of our sakes, I hope that Trump doesn’t screw things up as badly as he did last time.

A true public servant. Even if he’d never been elected, he’d have spent his life helping others. The last decent man who became president, in my opinion.

You should go back and look at your history regarding TXHSFB. Back to the days when teams would suit up roughnecks in places like Overton and HD… and it got brought under control. When all of the schools in a district fall under one ISD (say, Dallas ISD) it changes things. Do you remember way back to last year when DISD filed an appeal after SOC lost to PNG? Imagine the employment prospects of a DISD coach that protests about another DISD coach’s potential transfer when the ISD is obviously vested in winning at any costs, rules be darned. There are plenty of schools to play against if you want to field a super team of transfers. Bishop Gorman, IMG Academy, etc… Unfortunately for schools like SOC, the UIL isn’t going to let Texas High School Football be turned into an 18U showcase for a handful of wannabe coach/agents.

Oh, it will happen. The UIL won’t turn a blind eye just because certain DECS do. Where did you go to law school, my man?

Nvm! Demond Demas was his name. Quite a story. Crashed out at A&M, landed at Juco in Kansas, and per his X Account at 6:05pm last night, he’s “FULLY academically eligible and in the portal!!” Some would argue that telling kids that “the rules don’t apply to you” leads them to believe that the rules don’t apply to them.

I like what happened to that WR from N Houston that tried to transfer into Tomball with his AAU best friend the QB, “because his old school was unsafe,” except all of his siblings were left back in the unsafe school. He ended up forgoing this senior season on the field, then played at TAMU. That’s what happens when the system works like it should. What ever happened to that kid?
