  1. And McCarthy is 0-3. Nice look for the new Republican majority in the House.
  2. Negotiated without a single member of the opposing party's vote. Who exactly were you negotiating with, lol?
  3. Fiscal conservatism is a political and economic philosophy regarding fiscal policy and fiscal responsibility with an ideological basis in capitalism, individualism, limited government, and laissez-faire economics.[1][2] Fiscal conservatives advocate tax cuts, reduced government spending, free markets, deregulation, privatization, free trade, and minimal government debt.[3 Those are some pretty big parts of fiscal conservatism of which Trump did the opposite.
  4. We’re all just gonna pretend like deficits didn’t jump as soon as Trump took office, I guess. That’s not a good thing, even if you’re giving him a pass on Covid spending. Trump was not a conservative… he was a “cut taxes for me and my friends” guy. Did the economy perk up? Absolutely. Did our debt balloon? Absolutely. That’s not much of a trade off.
  5. I get it…. Most of this is going over your head. It’s obvious that you don’t even understand the terms that apply to the issues at hand. That’s the problem with most of trumps diehards… they don’t even know what they’re talking about, they’re just sure that Trump was the best!
  6. There’s not a lot of difference in the spending habits of the two parties since the late 90s… there are no fiscal conservatives in Washington.
  7. He added about 9 Trillion to our accumulated DEBT, but the yearly deficits shrank while he was in office. Don't get me wrong, we were still spending Trillions during his presidency, just not spending at as fast of a rate as when he started. It's also honest to point out that the deficit (and debt) grew every year that Trump was in office... even before the pandemic. FY 2010: Obama's first budget created a deficit of just under $1.3 trillion.4 FY 2011: This budget deficit was $1.3 trillion.5 FY 2012: The deficit was $1.1 trillion.6 FY 2013: This was the first Obama budget where the deficit, $680 billion, was less than $1 trillion.7 FY 2014: The deficit was $483 billion.8 Tax revenue rose to $3.02 trillion.9 FY 2015: The deficit fell further to $439 billion.10 FY 2016: The deficit rose to $587 billion.11 FY 2017: The deficit was $665 billion.12 It was $162 billion more than the $503 billion deficit estimated in Obama's budget request
  8. That's what amazes me... these people claim to be conservative when it comes time to cut taxes but get all liberal when it's time to spend money. It's been going on for years. I guess these "conservatives" are okay with deficit spending as long as it's on things that THEY want. New term, kinda like RINOs. Conservative Until (I) Need Things.... you know.
  9. First off, the Republicans can't even get a speaker seated... What makes you think they're going to accomplish a single meaningful thing when the entire party is held captive by wingnuts on the far right? Kinda like NOT repealing and replacing Obamacare (which you all seem to hate so much) even though they had both houses and the Presidency? That's a fail. Those same type of knuckleheads with 12 step programs to persecute, prosecute, and other badger Dems instead of doing the work of the country is exactly why I cant stand the Republican Party, even though I'm a conservative. At least the Dems can all get on the same page when it matters. Republicans can't or won't.
  10. She's right... The deficit an annual number that shows how much we've spent OVER what we collected, and Obama's deficits WERE lower in his later years vs the first ones. The debt is the running total of debt that we've racked up as a nation over time. But, the deficits generated in '09 was substantial as a result of the financial meltdown at the end of Bush's terms. Kinda like Biden will show smaller deficits by the time he leaves office unless we have another event like the mortgage meltdown or pandemic. Fun fact...the last time we ran a surplus (we collected more than we spent in a single year, hence no deficit) Bill Clinton was in office and the Rs held congress.
  11. That’s not true. POOR people of all races couldn’t vote… not just blacks. In fact, free black men were able to vote before the civil war… just not slaves. Everybody knows that the 3/5th compromise is what got all of the colonies to Unite. The Non-slave owning states agreed to let the slave owning states count their slaves as 3/5ths of a person for representation and federal funding purposes. Some in the north (incorrectly, obviously) thought that the idea of freeing slaves (and thereby increasing the former slaveholding states census number by an amount of 2/5ths per slave) would help encourage those states to ban slavery in short order.
  12. You need to check a little deeper…. Most of those violent Anti-Asian hate crimes are being committed by Black people… somehow the Orange managed to get black people to attack Asians over COVID? Not hardly. It’s the dirty secret that the media is keeping quiet, but if you get into the data, it’s there. Same with the Anti-semitism that’s growing today… the people who keep crossing lines verbally aren’t skinheads this time around. Every person who has emigrated here arrived with less than 100% of the rights afforded under our constitution initially. You realize that black men got the right to vote long before women of any color, right? 1870 for black men, 1920 for women. Different groups of people have been done wrong since time immortal… we don’t have a lock on bad decisions here in the US… and black people weren’t the only recipients… they’re just the only ones that still expect reparations.
  13. I wonder if anybody will be charged with helping him evade arrest?
  14. No, it’s realistic. You say that oppression and systemic racism (lack of opportunities) are the only problems worth discussing that face the black community in 2022. But you also acknowledge that there are more white people on welfare than there are blacks. The question remains… why are there so many poor white people? Is it POSSIBLE that the same behaviors exhibited by poor whites that keep them in poverty also be the major cause of black poverty, especially considering that the behaviors are the exact same across the poor of both races? Why do immigrants (even black ones from around the world) seem immune to this woeful racism you decry? Why does the system only affect American blacks, but not Asians, Cubans, Middle Easterners, Mexicans, etc…. All of whom arrive penniless and thrive in short order, yet the black community still remains “victimized?”
  15. I didn’t use lazy for either group because I’m trying hard not to use insulting terms…. But yes, laziness is often a reason why a person of any color would be on benefits indefinitely. You misunderstood my post. The first few were reasons why a person might find themself on welfare through no real fault of their own. The rest were examples of bad decisions that cause a lot of people end up in bad spots…. I didn’t attribute any of those conditions or decisions to any race… they hold true for everybody.
  16. Sometimes it’s bad luck, occasionally a mental defect or just a little misfortune… but it generally comes down to bad choices. I mean… those guys had to squander their “privilege” somehow. When I see kids that are impoverished, I usually only see one parent. When I see homeless people, I see drug/alcohol use that turned into an addiction. When I see someone who can’t earn enough to support their family, I typically see someone who didn’t finish free public schooling… when I see people who aren’t employable because of prior felonies, I recognize poor life choices that put them in that position. I hate seeing kids in bad spots, but it’s almost always the result of bad choices on the part of their parents. Got a repossession, eviction, outstanding hot checks, no savings, and now you can’t get anybody to finance a house or car to you? Once again… poor choices in almost all cases. I can freely admit that most of the time when “my” people are in a bind, it’s of their own doing… but your argument seems to be that when a black person finds themselves in a similar predicament, it wasn’t bad choices but rather a result of slavery, oppression, systemic racism, etc… and reparations are the solution. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a person of color or a liberal acknowledge that a black person’s actions contributed at all to the realities of their life. Not even once.
  17. You’re argument is that the reason for poverty and lack of personal wealth in the black community is systemic racism and oppression… that’s why black people should receive reparations. But there are more white people living in poverty than black people, according to you (and I agree). So my question is this… if all black poverty is a direct result of systemic racism and oppression as you believe… what causes white people to live in poverty? It obviously wasn’t racism or oppression, yet they’re broke… why do you think that is?
  18. Ok…. You’ve stated that there are more whites people on welfare than blacks. If blacks are poor because of systemic racism and oppression, then why are there MORE poor white people than black people? If racism causes black people to be poor, then what causes white people to be poor?
  19. I couldn’t help it… just saw this on the tiktok and it fits the conversation. If a white person: Moves out-white flight Moves in-gentrification Sees color-racist Doesn’t see color-ignoring racism Doesn’t partake in culture- he’s non-inclusive Engages in culture- cultural appropriation It made me laugh because it’s true.
  20. I think I’ve made my feelings known by this point. I’m going to give the last word to you guys (and gal). I appreciate the relatively polite exchange of ideas and have hopefully given you a thing or two to consider. Y’all have definitely helped me better understand where y’all are coming from. Carry on.
  21. I think that’s what I find so frustrating about these exchanges. I WANT to see the black community rise up… it’s no secret that they’re lagging behind most other groups, but that community (and some of their more ardent supporters, like UT) are determined to focus on the very real, yet painfully insignificant causes (oppression and systemic racism) rather than focus on the real problems that are holding them back. Which is a bigger concern… that young black men (6% of the population) commit 50% of all murders? Nope… they focus on the half dozen or so per year that are killed by the police. Who cares if they somehow managed to eradicate 100% of all police shootings? Instead of 7400 black murder victims each year, you’d only have 7394 black people murdered per year. That’s the change they’re all fighting for? Like I keep saying…. Y’all are worried about the wrong sh…..crap.
  22. Don’t worry… I’ve posted plenty of current day examples that unfairly target white people or give benefits only to POCs…. Here’s a couple of new ones… the pandemic response included billions in aid for farmers with 25% going to minority farmers… despite fact that they only make up 4% of all farmers… you know, pandemic response via social Justice. Kinda sucks if you’re part of the 96%, though. Or when VP Kamala Harris promises to take “equity” into consideration when passing out fema funds after Hurricane Ian. That’s not that great of news if you’re house blew down and you’re white. Since those racist polities come from the federal government itself, i think they actually ARE examples of systemic racism in 2022… but it’s aimed at white folks, not black. So much for “equal protection under the law”, huh?
