  1. [Hidden Content] No, it's racism according to the "educated" people.
  2. My point exactly... I was talking about how so many poor people are fat... of all races. But obesity among poor blacks is caused by systemic racism. So what about the skinny blacks who are poor? So what about the fat whites who are poor? It doesn't matter... obesity among poor blacks is just another symptom of 1350 years of oppression and it's worse now than ever, right?
  3. You had me right up until here... The thing is this. We fought against the British, Indians, Mexicans, Libyans, Japanese, Germans, Italians, each other, Vietnamese, Koreans, Iraqis, Iranians, Somalis, Afghans, etc since slavery ended... and for the most part we're cool with those people now.... the idea that we somehow won't forgive African immigrants for being freed from slavery? The whole animosity is being played up for ratings and votes.... and some people just take it too seriously. Here's fine example... throughout the world the impoverished have one thing in common... they're all rail-thin. In America our "impoverished" are a bunch of fatties because "it's too expensive to eat healthy." No, the common sense answer is that we give them too much $$$ for food. People who pay for their own food pick up what they need at the grocery store and try to stretch that dollar. "Poor" people with EBTs shove shopping carts full stacked overflowing with junk food that the cash customer can't afford... but obesity is a reflection of systemic racism for the black fatties. And if you disagree you're just disenfranchised and a racist, according to the uniformly POC anchors on my morning news show.
  4. It’s proven that young black men get into more violent confrontations than anyone else… just check the number of blacks murdered every year. So why are you surprised that they get into more violent confrontations with the cops, too? it’s not that hard to understand if you can let go of your biases.
  5. Honestly, I don’t subscribe to the “they sold their own into slavery argument.” At the end of the day it doesn’t matter. it’s a historical institution with no impact on life in America today. No offense, but Texas wasn’t “built on Slavery.” It existed here from 1836 to 1865. No offense, but that’s an insignificant time period in the grand scheme of things. Not exactly 300 years, huh?
  6. It's not racist, it's just a lie to say that "the south's attempt to perpetuate it (slavery) into the second half of the twentieth century does affect the lives of many today" when slavery was ended in American during the middle of the 19th century... and we're a quarter of the way through the 21st century today. The problem is this.... almost every civilization since the dawn of time has had slavery in one form or another... and every square inch of the earth has been conquered over and over from the times of the cavemen and mesopotamians.... But to hear an "educated" person speak today, you'd just assume it's been those dirty white men and their racism all along. Under what part of our constitution is a field general allowed to take the millions of acres from one set of citizens and promise it to another set of citizens? Because that's all that "40 acres and a mule" was... some Yankee General's short-sighted attempt to punish Southern landowners after the Civil War, and luckily wiser heads realized that despite being Unconstitutional, it was wrong.... but that's the "broken promise" blacks like to cry about. Meanwhile, you can drive through East Texas and see countless homesteads that have been abandoned by their black owners. Take a drive... they're everywhere.
  7. What do you want me to say? The percentage of blacks murdered by blacks is very similar to the percentage of whites murdered by whites... the problems is that there are just so many more blacks killed in total. Of the 14000 murder victims in the US in 2018, over 7400 were black... and practically all of them were killed by black people. But you don't care about those (other than some airbrushed t-shirts), just the ones who get killed by cops. Here's the problem with your math... you only care about math when it's in your favor. What's the percentage of black NBA players making millions compared to others? Not a problem. Running backs in the NFL are almost exclusively black, and you don't care. Why aren't there more black qbs? Must be racism, huh? Can you admit that black men are much more violent as evidenced by the astounding numbers of murders they commit on each other every year? You seem to be the guy that wants to overlook the fact that they just kill a disproportionate amount of people, but then cry about the fact that they are over-represented on death row as being racist.
  8. The good news is that those old days where law enforcement was like “it was the worst case of suicide we ever saw” when a black person died in custody are gone… more often than not juries ARE convicting police officers who wrongfully kill/injure people…. The only problem is that a large portion of the population believes that ANY time a police officer kills a black person, the officer should be imprisoned… it doesn’t matter if the officer was returning fire as the “victim” was shooting at the cop…. No justice, no peace!
  9. I have a black friend that was raised in Alabama, then moved to texas. Great family background, coparenting with his sons’ mom, worked for PAFD before hiring on at one of the plants. Solid, solid dude. He was literally worried about his sons’ lives if they came in contact with the police-and these kids went to Memorial. You couldn’t convince him that statistically speaking they’re 1000 times more likely to be killed by another black kid than a cop. Like… every other week some kid is getting smoked in PA, but he’s legit worried about what will happen if the cops pull them over. I don’t know how you fix peoples’ thought processes with facts…. Some people still believe the election was stolen, too.
  10. Good post… those laws were needed to address actual racism. The only lingering effects of racism is the victim mentality that infests the minds of black people despite having every possible advantage offered to them over other races.
  11. In 2018 there were 7400 black people murdered in the US. Over 7000 of them were murdered by other black people. But all black people care about is the SIX unarmed black people that were killed by police. [Hidden Content] This article claims that between 2015 and 2021, 135 total unarmed black men and women were killed by the police… then it memorializes a young man (one of the 135) with a felony warrant who fled a traffic stop, resisted arrest, was tazed twice, and eventually was shot after trying to take the officers gun. He’s still a “victim of police violence.” In the same time that those poor 135 were killed by the police, roughly 45,000 black people were murdered by other blacks… but if you listen to black people and the media, you’d think it was the other way around.
  12. You left out one vital factor. Black people often put the police in a position where they have no choice but to use lethal force. Black people commit over 50% of the murders in the US while making up only 13% of the total population. To be more specific, black MALES make up about six percent of the general population while committing most of those murders. So is it any surprise that they often end up in lethal combat with the police? They’re always doing it to each other. Simple question… can you at least admit that black men commit many, many more murders than any other segment of our population? Not per capita, but actually commit the most, by far? Before you segue into “poverty” being the cause, remember that y’all have already pointed out that there are more white people on welfare than blacks, total… of poverty was the cause, you’d have more white people committing murders.
  13. The thing that annoys me is that people on the left 100% believe that they are all victims of “systemic racism” while being unable to point at a single policy that puts them at a disadvantage because of their race in 2020. “Jim Crow, slavery, Tulsa, and redlining!” they all yell, but can point at nothing but results (“there are more blacks in prison for murder”) as proof of racism, when the result is actually a result of poor choices, not racism, arguably. We can, however, point at policy after policy that actually do exist in 2022 that put whites at a disadvantage because of THEIR race…. Not opinions, not long-gone policies, not just “results” passed off as proof of wrong… actual policies. Everything from discrimination in the hiring process under the guise of “promoting diversity” to special consideration in the college admissions process, academic scholarships exclusively for minority beneficiaries, to taxes aimed solely at white people (the excise tax on tanning booth fees), to being protected in the workplace by EEOC regulations, to white people being punished more harshly when committing the same crimes (“hate crime” legislation) to being given preference in stupid reality tv contests (cbs announcing that they will feature 50% minority contestants on their programs) to the current President announcing that he would be choosing a black woman as his running mate… even if she is woefully and obviously under qualified… Black people have far more advantages in America in 2022, yet some will sit in their big houses, boast about their education and that of their kids, and believe that they are still a victim of the system.
  14. That’s an opinion based on zero evidence. “We don’t know how much crime white people commit because they aren’t arrested as often as black people.” Can you at least admit that more than half of the people murdered each year in the US are black, and 93% of them are killed by other black people?
  15. What about the descendants of white people who lost their lives fighting to free your ancestors? Should they receive reparations, too? What about the people who legally purchased and bred slaves, only to have them freed without compensation? Should those families receive reparations? What about the people whose property and fortunes were destroyed in the war to free the slaves… shouldn’t you be obligated to make their descendants whole today? Reparations are a good idea only to the simple minded and those who want the votes of the simple minded. The problem with reparations is this… the federal government can’t give anything to anybody without first taking it from someone else. So what you are really arguing is that your neighbors deserve to have things taken from them and given to you… that you never earned and therefore don’t deserve. And if your neighbor doesn’t agree with you, it’s because he’s white, uneducated, and disenfranchised. You’ve been lied lied to your whole life. Nobody owes any of us anything… never has, never will.
  16. Yes, ma’am. BBA ‘98. Why are you so willing to point out discrepancies between the rates of incarceration as a bad thing, but then gloss over discrepancies between the races on dropout rates with “white people drop out, too.” Anytime somebody talks about systemic racism, they are talking about an insignificant problem after glossing over the fact that most of the problems facing the black community are self-inflicted… it just feels better to blame them on Whitey.
  17. UT alum argues that if we made college free for black kids, they’d stop dropping out of high school and get college degrees.
  18. You’re just plainly wrong. The article you posted (which is based on being pro-criminal Justice reform) keeps pointing at different) rates of incarceration and arrest between the races as “proof” of racism. It’s not. As I stated earlier… the fact is that black people (13% of the population) commit 50% of all murders in the U.S. This articles implies that since more black people are arrested and incarcerated for “the same crime,” (murder) the system is racist. That is a complete twisting of the truth into an outright lie. You keep pointing to the fact that more black are arrested/jailed for committing “the same crime” without admitting that black men are committing many, many more of those crimes than others. I’ll happily admit that some punishments more harshly affected the black community. Crack cocaine possession (typically blacks were charged in the 90s) resulted in longer sentences than powder cocaine charges (typically whites were charged) for the same amount of the drug. That’s since been fixed. But harsher sentences DID exist and could be considered a form of systemic racism in my opinion.
  19. That’s not racial… we moved to an area outside of our district when I was a freshman and my mom HAD to drop me off… i ended up in ISS over tardies.
  20. Ok…. I’ll agree with being prejudiced. Just because 49% of black males have been arrested by the age of 23 is immaterial. But you just proved my point that racism isn’t holding black kids back. You’ve got example after example of black kids who’ve excelled. Last question. Why are only SOME black kids held back by systemic racism?
  21. Yes… the fact that he is black makes him unique. Most of his black peers are not similarly situated. Your son is unique. In a community that believes that “the only way out” is via a 🔥mixtape or becoming a professional athlete, and academics are largely ignored by kids and parents alike… they are both unique. But instead of celebrating the efforts and accomplishments made by the unique young people (and their parents who did a great job) you stand back and say “well, it was in spite of being ____…. The system failed everybody else.” When OJ Simpson was found not guilty in the 1990s, black people celebrated widely… “finally… a black man got a fair trial in America” was the thought. I was like “no, finally a black man had enough money to afford a top notch defense…. His race is irrelevant, but the fact that he is black makes his success unique.” Here’s the thing… you are walking, talking proof that success in America is possible for anybody. You’re not wrong… you probably are doing better than a lot of the people on this board. But you stand around and recite all of the mantras that absolve the black community of any responsibility for their own shortcomings instead of recognizing that what you’ve done isn’t hard, it’s common sense, good parenting, hard work and sound decisions. It has to be tough for you because it flies in the face of what you’ve been taught and I’m certain that your community as a whole doesn’t want to hear it… that’s something that I don’t experience.
  22. You’re not doing good in spite of, and I’m not doing good because of… you’re doing good because you’ve busted your tail and made good decisions. I wish more people like you would recognize that fact and spread that message instead of telling black kids that the deck is stacked against them. There’s a young black man that I know…. He’s really close with my nephew and actually works work for one of my best friend. 26 years old, lives with his fiancé, two small kids. Has a blue collar job that allows him to be home every night, gets as much overtime as he wants and will easily make $150k this year. He’s got a boat, ATV, and a diesel pickup. He and his DAD are raising a few cows together. He is just like a lot of other kids I know… what makes him unique is that he’s black. In a few years he’ll be applying for supervisory roles that he’ll be qualified for, and he’ll receive special consideration because of his race-his employer WANTS to see their ranks become more diversified. But you still seem to be convinced that the deck is stacked against this kid. It’s not…
  23. Those are all real problems… none of which have occurred in my 50 years on earth, with the exception of the last, and I argue that it’s a shame, but not racism IMO. I dabble in real estate. If it’s obvious that a home has been flipped, it tends to hurt the value of a house. Savvy buyers assume that corners were cut AND the buyer is looking to sell in a hurry… the market will offer less for that house. The fact is this… everybody involved in the sale of a house wants a higher price except for the buyer himself. The seller gets more $$$, the realtors’ commissions are higher, the title company makes more money, the bank makes more interest, the insurance company gets higher premiums, the taxing entities make more money if the value is higher. But you want me to believe that all of those people and organizations are willing to make less money out of racial animus? That’s bull… a black owned house isn’t worth what a white owned house is…. Why is that? Is it a fear that the home hasn’t been maintained? Is it a fear that the neighborhood’s demographics are changing? Are potential buyers thinking to themselves “oh, my… even the decent blacks people don’t want to live here?” You have to admit that generations worth of being crappy neighbors has no doubt had an effect on property values in minority neighborhoods. Everything from crappy decisions at the governing body level (BISD, Port Arthur City Council, etc..) and bad schools also play into those decisions. But to pretend that the entire housing industry is leaving money on the table out of racial animus is just…dumb.
