I'm going to venture that it was the only year that they had a kid with a decent arm under center.

Winningest programs in Texas High School Football history
CardinalBacker replied to dme1111's topic in High School Football
I don’t think it happens in two years, but three-four isn’t unrealistic. Do the faithful have anything to say about the upcoming season? I was thinking that WOS graduated a bunch of starters, but you’d know better than me. -

I'm no sure that Drummer's math is on point. WOS 440/109/3.... 0.7971 SLC 584/157/8.... 0.7797 I'm too lazy to math out how many games would actually have to be won/lost to make a percentage change to favor SLC, but last year the records were 5-6 to 13-1. Since SLC has played so many more games than WOS over history, it's harder for SLC to gain ground by winning, but easier for WOS to lose ground by losing. Another 5-6 season would have WOS at 445/158/8, or 0.790. -

Where are you finding those win/loss records? -
Other than Clinton lying to Congress, I don't see where anybody was charged with anything. You basically just fired off a list of people you don't like.

I'm going to go out on a limb here... When a politician DOES get run out of town by his/her own party, it's typically a Dem. Like when they ran off Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, etc... The Rs tend to let their guys like Santos keep their seats.

Supreme Court considers fate of Biden's student loan relief plan

You can't be so naive as to say that a man like yourself who is in favor of the PPP handouts is somehow different than any other man who is in favor of handouts. You's a welfare queen, too. -

The politicians the next time an election comes around. You realize that you're just proving DontheCons argument, right? You're against handouts right up until one comes along that you agree with. "When the government ruins lives by purposely allowing slavery for almost 80 years, who should be held responsible?" "When the government ruins college students' futures by loaning college students money that they can't pay back, who should be held responsible?" "when the government destroys the fortunes of slaveowners by outlawing slavery and freeing slaves with no compensation to their previously lawful owners and bankrupting them, who should be held responsible?" When the government mandates an evacuation, should they also give handouts to businesses for lost revenue during the evacuation? But to answer you question, the guilty "party" in the shutdown was the virus itself. Good luck collecting your handouts from COVID 19, though. -

It's like backing your car into a tree in your own front yard and suing yourself. Have fun spending your "reward" you got from the "responsible party." Nice try. -

That's the whole problem. "The government" isn't taking responsibility, the US taxpayer is. It's like taking $50 out of your checking account to pay yourself to mow your own yard, then putting it back in your checking account and calling it "income." The government basically borrowed money in our name and gave it to us "free" except we still have to pay it back in the form of taxes. But your argument is one that a republican would use to justify taking a handout just like a lib. -

I agree completely. Almost completely unnecessary. And facilitated by both parties, if my memory is correct. -

So.... can you point me at any of these fabled "handouts to large corporations" that the left likes to talk about? All I ever hear is how unfair it is that oil companies are allowed to write off all of their losses on exploration in year one. I mean, that and all of those green energy expenditures. Conservatives don't want handouts to anybody. Republican lawmakers do some really dumb stuff, though. -
What In The Heck Is The Black National Anthem?
CardinalBacker replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
Right... but the same people who are arguing about how "a person or a nation doesn't know their true history it is not a good thing" are the same ones tearing down statues, BANNING ANTHEMS, and renaming schools. You only want to promote history that pushes the victim narrative that the left loves. -

So.... with 120 years of work, why hasn't the the fossil fuel industry gotten it together satisfactorily? Hint... because they donate to Republicans. Green Energy companies give to Democrats. -

Right… if you’ve got problems in 2023 it’s because James Madison‘s daddy used to rape his slaves. If I’ve got problems it’s just because i make bad decisions. Slavery has had zero impact on your life or wealth. That is a fact. It’s just a crutch at this point. -

I never like to get in the way of somebody's trip in the wrong direction, but you have to ask yourself... "why would Francis Scott Key wake up on the morning after a great battle, half expecting to see that the United States was no more, write a song about it, then suddenly toss in a verse about how much he despised slaves?" He didn't. "The War of 1812 was caused, among other things, by Great Britain’s attempt to restrict U.S. trade and America’s desire to expand its northern territory by annexing Canada. By 1810, more than 15 percent of the U.S. population was enslaved, and British forces recruited escaped slaves to fight for the slaves’ freedom against the American militia. This unit, referred to as the Colonial Marines, was part of the British forces that overran Washington, D.C., in 1814 and set fire to the White House. So when Key references the “foul footstep’s” of the “hireling and slave” who “no refuge could save” from “the gloom of the grave” in the third verse, he’s referring to the killing of Colonial Marines." You can look at it through whatever racially tinged glasses you wish, but sometimes you should just ask your self "why?" I'd also like to point out that these black men (the "hirelings and slaves") joined with British forces to torch the White House. That really had to bother a slave owner like Francis Scott Key.... But you also have to remember that in his later years Francis Scott Key also won several legal battles that helped slaves gain their freedom. I also like to point out the similarity between the blacks that fought back against the US government in 1814 were just as seditious and treasonous as the Southerners who did the same thing just 40 short years later. Time has a funny way of changing the way that people feel about things. How can one group of people hear the same song and be moved to tears like the Philly Coach at the Super Bowl and the next guy hear the same song and refuse to remove his hat or get out of his seat? It's all about upbringing. One group is taught that it's all of us together and the other group is taught to look for things to be be mad about. In this case a third verse that nobody has ever even heard. -
It's a term of endearment in our community.

“Leprechauns and Unicorns?” That’s pretty harsh coming from a guy who believes that the 2020 election was stolen. Even though nobody has come forth with any proof. 300 million smart phones in the US and nobody bothered to snap a single photo of all of that “election fraud.”
-
It's going to be an interesting election, that's for sure. As soon as the Democratic race is decided, I think we'll see large bodies of Dems crossing over in States like Texas to vote for Trump in the primaries because they are well aware that Trump is an easy out if he gets the Republican nomination.
-
If voting for a candidate that can’t win an election is what’s good for the country, I guess you’ll be doing the right thing. There’s a reason that no one since Richard Nixon who was re-nominated by a major party after losing the first time they were nominated. You can go down the list. Mondale, Dukakis, HW Bush, Dole, Gore, Kerry, McCain, Romney, Hillary… once the parties throw all of their efforts into a candidate can’t deliver, they’re written off. Just like Trump should be. The fact that people still think he has a shot when he’s gotten his cheeks clapped three times in a row is just baffling to me.
-
I see it as being similar to 1992... there were about 20% of voters who felt like Ross Perot was the man for the job... they were wrong, and we got Clinton. I think Bush would have won a second term if not for the defection of the Perot voters to that third party. I see 2024 playing out similarly... it's a lot of flag waving under-informed conservatives who are going to sink the ship by refusing to acknowledge that Trump can't win a general election.
-
Here's the thing.... there are many, many, people more capable of being President than Trump. The belief that "Trump is the only one that can save us" is just a bad joke. And your math just proves my point. A lot of people didn't care for Obama, and a lot of people were just "meh" about Romney.... TRUMP DRIVES PEOPLE TO THE POLLS TO VOTE AGAINST HIM. He's his own worst enemy. I've said it before... a candidate has two jobs.... 1. Make it easy to vote for him and 2. Make it hard to vote for the other guy. Trump made people vote against himself through his repulsive behaviors and that hasn't changed... guess what? The people who said "I'll vote for anybody BUT Trump" haven't changed their minds since they voted against him last time. There aren't millions of people out there going "sheesh! I've learned my lesson-we need Trump! He's the only one who can do this job." No one is saying that except the minority of voters that blindly support Trump. I'm talking about you, sir.
-
If you vote Trump you’re voting democrat… he can’t win.
-
Yes, it does when a candidate's personality precludes them from actually winning an election. It doesn't matter what the policies are when you can't get elected to install them. I doubt that Desantis is much different than Trump in regards to political beliefs... I'm not saying he's the guy, but he isn't going to drive people to vote Democrat like Trump does. Dick Cheney would have made a fine President, he was just unelectable. Nobody thought Trump had a chance and he pulled it off. Four years later he got smoked, and has done nothing but further alienate potential swing voters since with riots, suits, charges, investigations, character assassinations on his "enemies," etc... and all but about 25% of voters don't want it. I'm telling you.... unemployment is at record lows, home prices are through the roof... Biden isn't getting blamed for inflation. Is the media giving him a pass? Undoubtedly. Is there some huge "we need change, and we need it now" movement in the works? It doesn't seem like it. Trump is poisonous at this point to all but his most loyal subjects.
