Hopefully my HF Horns will have to much pride too lose back to back weeks against 2A programs. I think HF will take this one in a close one. HF - 28 Buna - 27
Splendora is 3A!!
Yes, but HF defeated Splendora, he's talking about losing to Anahuac (2A) and Buna (also 2A). -

So where are the BH Price supporters WHAT HAPPENED 8) Does this mean the keys to the city have to be returned :-* Sorry HF not a knock on you or Price just the few that are so convinced that he is God!
An HF/Price supporter right here. Just because we lost one game you think we're giving up on our coach? what the heck is wrong with you? He (coach Price) has this team headed in the right direction, one loss is going to turn you on him? You have deeper issues sir.
Your missing the point!(Long story) And I agree Price will have HF where they need to be it takes a while to turn around a program. We are going through the same thing. Goodluck to HF one game doesn't define a season hang in there HF will be a better team. Congrats to Anahuac on there victory as well!
I wouldn't call him a village idiot, that's not kool, but I'd like to hear the novel typed out (in a PM). Anyway, Don't know the details on the story but congrats Anahuac and keep workin' hard HF, your time will come before too long.

Win gives Hamshire-Fannett confidence

Friday will be a good indication of how much HF has improved, as everyone knows they are playing a very talented Anahuac team. I think the overall morale is improved at HF, and while people are happy with that win, the horns will need to keep winning to keep people off Price's back. -

Hmmm - I wonder if Kyle Singler and Gordon Hayward are products of Universal Off Season in High School?
I think another way to look at it is: I wonder if Kyle Singler and Gordon Hayward were multi-sport athletes in High School? Then ask what their workouts were.

The Wing T Offense !! Your opinion on it?
horndawg replied to H-D BOBCAT 55's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
When run correct with the right combination of backs is lethal. Not very fun to watch for those that have come to want to watch the Fun & Gun. For those that like hard nose football and don't mind the option, traps, and sweeps, it's a fun to watch it march methodically up and down the field. -
Just goes to show why the AD position should be separate position. Football coaches are out for one sport and that is their own. They have no regard for whether a basketball team wins or loses, nor do they really care. Pretty patheic no matter what team it happens to.
And do you not believe that if there was an AD and a head football coach that the football coach would not be in the AD's ear telling him he needed this player or that player to workout when he is a multi-sport player? I don't believe this is the fix that you necessarily want. -

Not really, just trying it out. Don't think it'll happen again unless there's an absolute need for it

We were at a school last year that was run that way. I know we are in Texas and Foorball is king But why should the other programs suffer inorder to help the FB team.
Because that is what he is being paid to do (win in football, not kill other programs). Again, that is how it goes in a small 3A school, the AD is the head football coach. But I still do not see how working on agilities or plyometrics or even lifting weights 2-3 times a week is bad for any high school athlete any time of the year. I will agree that I wasn't the biggest fan of lifting when I was playing, and I still don't necessarily agree with it, but hey if that's what the coach told us to do, we did it. His team, his choice, he will live and or die by it, so just let it be.
Nobody said it was a crime. The name of this thread was Kiss Basketball Goodbye at HF and that may very well be valid (in relative terms, of course)
You realize HF hasn't been to the playoffs in basketball since '03 or '04 right? It hasn't been the same for a while. I think it's mainly because there are just not the same types of athletes that came through back in those days. Also, the attitude of players was about 180 degrees of what you see these days. Then it was about the team, now it's about "me". I imagine that the drought has a little more to do with working out, etc. I bet there's more to it than working out or not.
I think the biggest complaint I have is to have a AD that is the head football coach tell another coach (basketball or baseball ) what he should be having his team doing during their season. I do think that lifting will make them stronger and even faster, but that program should be run by that coach during his season. If your going to have the football coach run the hole program then save the tax payers some money and have him coach all sports and just hire assistance.
So do you have kids at HF? And if so, has Coach Price already made some sort of intervention like you are talking about?
-
He was also not a football player. Still couldnt shoot though.
You asked how many 250 pounders were a success in high school, I gave you an answer.

BTW, there needs to be lines drawn for these arguments. First off, are these players 2 or 3 sport athletes. If so, then yes, they need to be working out quite a bit more than 1-sport athletes. A 1-sport can sort out a workout schedule and other time to work on skills. Then, when the season comes around, just be ready to sharpen those skills. As for the 2 or 3 sporters, they need to be an all-around athlete and must cram a heck of a lot more workout time into their already busy schedule, but they still need to work out to prep for all the sports that they play. I guess I'm still confused as to what everyone is so up in arms about.
BTW how many 250 pound basketball players have you seen be a success in high school?
I'd say Kendrick Perkins was a pretty good 2??+ (probably around 250) lb basketball player. What say you?
