2.
First off, I keep reading that this parent didn't want his kid participating in the weight lifting "program." There is no program or regimen or plan. It's just a bunch of junior high kids sent to a weight room to do whatever while the coach is off taking care of other business. My son has informed me that the coaches are not present while the lifting is going on. Secondly, we are accused of believing we know more than these junior high coaches. Quick scenario: after two knee surgeries in eight months, my son was released to play junior high basketball. After playing in a school basketball tournament one weekend, my son was required to run a mile on Monday. Halfway through the mile he started complaining about his knee hurting. He was made to finish the run. Later that night, his knee was the size of a small melon. Tuesday back to the doctor and now we are shut down until May. Tell me how I am suppose to trust my son's welfare with these coaches.

And how did your son sustain the initial knee injury?? Playing jr. high football or an outside school sport such as? If your son hurt his knee running a mile than he probably should not have been released by the doctor so I think your blame should go to that source dont you? And I would be careful how much fact you take from your description of the "program" unless you have actually witnessed it with your own eyes, because you may be called to the mat on it and hurt your son even more in another year when he gets to the High School. To me it is another example of kids not wanting to do something and parents supporting their weak excuses.
That was brutal. Fisherking delivered a swift one of these.  :o [IMG][Hidden Content]]
 3. Exactly..?  ??? Your point?
 4. How about we just put a little faith in the Administration and let them hire who they believe is the best person. No matter if you like him or not, whoever they hire will be the head coach, so you might as well give the guy a chance to do what he can, because I guarantee you whoever is hired will want the best for the kids at HF, and will want them to succeed.  I've never in my life heard of a guy that goes in trying to ruin a program (however, some guys programs don't always mesh at some places). I want to know if anyone has really heard of a guy with a mission to destroy a school's athletic program. Let the administration do it's job, let the coach do his job, the parents need to do their job and support their kids and the teams the kids play on, and the kid's need to do their job and play their sport.  It's really not a hard concept and if you'll do this, you'll see how much better things will be.

Had an HF coach tell me yesterday that he had recently received several notes from Jr. high parents telling him that they didn't want their kid lifting weights because "they felt" like it would adversely effect them in baseball and basketball. Keep in mind that the Jr. high just started a new weight program about a month ago. This is HF's problem. Any positive step in the right direction is met with adversity. As long as these parents know more than the coaches this program doesn't have a prayer.
Well, since the HF Sr Little Dribblers just won the regional tournament and are advancing to the national tournament in a couple of weeks, I can't blame the parents not wanting their basketball kids lifting weights until after tournament.   I doubt Duke is lifting much weight this week.
I bet Duke's basketball players aren't multi-sport athletes that need to train year round for more than their respective sport either.  ::)
 6. Well the irony of the 100th win for Coach Landry getting it against his old club seems only possible in movies but to get 100wins this early in his career is amazing. That should show those that may have been doubting him when the switch to BC occurred that the guy knows baseball and gets the best out of his athletes. So congrats Coach and here's to the next 100. Also, wanna show some love for my old school and say keep playing games like you did this one and you'll find yourselves in the playoffs for sure. Good luck the rest of the way HF.
 7.
1-0 HF 6th.  BC doesn't have a hit
the turning point in the game  ;)
 8. Top half of the 6th? Johnson and Hicks both on the bump?
 9.
Just because something isn't going your way it does not mean you quit.
...hmm does this include your current teammates or school?
 10.
Exactly, but to be the best you have watch and learn from the best. Not those in the middle or bottom of the ladder. wORKwith the best  and expect to be the best. It's a mindset too!
So basically what you are saying is as a parent, you are supposed to move your son/daughter to where they will win in sports, even if that means hurting their education?
 11. My ole ball coach goes for win #100 and he's only in his 7th season (correct me if I'm wrong) as a H.C. Pretty dang impressive if you ask me  :o
Well what do you do if you have no pegs square or round but still alot of holes to fill??
Duct tape: fixes all of life's little problems, especially small holes.
 13. What is HF's record thusfar?
 14.

Malone would not make a week at HF. They could not handle him. The kids quit Mangan, the parents cried about Mangan, and the administration did not back Mangan. HF is different, the parents want to have a say so in everything over there. What the parents need to do is back off and let the coach do his job. Mehaffey WILL be the next hire whether he is the best candidate or not. Just watch.
:D Hey, I'm a HF parent. Watch it buddy!Look let the coach do his job,but in the meantime, I want his address, phone number, email and twitter site. Just in case I need to speak to him and offer a little advice on how to run the Wing-T offense ;)
would you like his setx username too?
 15. I have an idea...Since the parents have "say so in everything the HF AD does, we'll set up a number and have the parents of HF text in the name of the candidate, American idiot...uh Idol style and the winner will be who gets most votes. This has to be a full proof plan right? I mean that show gets more votes than the presidentail election.
 16.

Anyone knows about those two guys from Katy? Which Katy school are those two guys from b/c if they are from the Katy Tigers program...could be guys who know how to get the most out of their athletes and know how to win. I still think they will stay inside with the two guys that were not there befor mangan or guys he did not bring in. They have proven AD success and they are already there (not part of the problems either from what I understand). I guess we shall soon see but one thing for sure, a lot of good quality coaches on there...someone should be able to come in and win.
A question for those that know more than me. Has HF ever hired an AD from within?? At least in the last 25 years? And if the two on staff that applied were brought in by Mangan, will administration really hire them the same administration thought the program was not going in the right direction?
What says that either one of these two will use the same approach as the man that hired them? I don't think I'm understanding your argument.
If what you say is true about the spring break stuff, then you are 100% correct.
 21.
I can only speak from a basketball point of view. You have to look at the program and see what kind of commitment there is towards the program. Do the coaches offer open gym during the summer? Is there a commitment from players to get better by working and playing against good competition? Does the style of play fit the talent of the players? Can the coach make adjustments during the game to win? Just a few questions..........
So that means you would leave on account of athletics? Hmm...so are the parents and kids really committed to HF then?

 23. Anyone know the playoff scenarios going into the last week?
 24. Blue's son could be an essential key to bringing back a winning tradition in b-ball is my point.  Why leave? Be one of the ones that brings the tradition back, instead of just another reason it won't. HTH
