  1. we'll see. hopefully it wont be a blowout like last year
  2. nope i dont make excuses, i state facts and what i meant by more than 11 players was the fact that they will be playing against the referees also. im not saying that this game will be the same but i know in a game i played in bc, the superintendent was one of the refs and he called everything in favor of bc. we'll have to wait and see on friday. dont underestimate hfs defense just yet, remember that besides wos, no one has scored more than 13 points on them in district. i think it should be a good game and maybe hf can finally outdo tarver.
  3. edblu, how could you think that jordan wouldnt be alternating at qb anymore? the horns won their first district game using this 2 qb system for cryin out loud. doing this is adding new dimensions to the offense, which will give the defense even more to prepare for. what i didnt realize is how quick jordan is. like i said in earlier posts, this the urban meyer approach and it seems to be working, he has them at #9 in the nation. so i believe it would be smart to stick with this offense. when did he get hit in the face? hopefully it wasnt intentional.
  4. if hf can play bc the whole game like they played the second half against orange field, i know they can beat bc. of course, they are still going to have to stop dishon. however, the game is in bc and everyone in hamshire knows that home cookin' becomes an issue when we travel over there. so we may be playing against more than 11 players on friday. hamshire's new found offense may be just what they needed to win out the rest of the season. just a little word of advise for hf: play your game, dont play against what you think tarver will do. ill say the offense picks up where they left off, and defense stays strong: hf-21 bc-13
  5. i meant no disrespect to the players and their ahtleticism. i know they have some good athletes, and id love them to win state either next year or their senior year. i just find the statement "best athletes to ever go through" a bold statement when, like you said, there hasnt been a d1 player in a while. now if they send some players to some d1 schools, they dont even need to be a school like michigan, but just a d1, then they can be considered great.actually all they need to do is go a few rounds in playoffs to be called great. hopefully within the next two years?! by the way your son did a good job tonight. had the jitters at first it seemed, but after the first play, calmed down and made of look silly on the draw. like i posted in football, he took the role tim tebow took at florida. he came in and ran when needed, and he delivered. if theyll throw in a few more plays and get him the ball in other plays but the draw, it will open their offense up.
  6. read what i said please nasty, "What all pitching does hj have?" that was a question because i only knew of returning treece, i had no knowledge of the other two pitchers. and what do you mean not educated in sports in general? dont you know that just because someone throws in the "mid to upper 80s" doesnt mean that they are going get the win for throwing the hardest. they still must throw strikes and they must have some good off-speed pitches because if they dont, they will get rocked out of the park.
  7. yes i must say that if hf played in every game like they did in the second half of the game tonight, i dare say that they would be in the hunt for playoffs. the offense FINALLY began clicking. hey you know, throwing wright in there to throw off the defense might be key. but they will have to let him do something besides the draw. his role tonight reminds me of tim tebows at florida. i cant say enough how impressed i was by hfs offense in the second half tonight. good job horns. i would also like to add that my prediction was only 7 points off of the correct score, i predicted 20-14 hf on top. that was a little icing on my cake
  8. i cant wait until hj faces silsbee's schooling, bc's stringer, jasper's "jp" kid, of's lafleur, hfs lange (who blanked lcm this past year). What all pitching does hj have? treece? he cant pitch every game for them. so if hj thinks they are going to just waltz into the playoffs, they have another thing coming. i realize the have hevelston and roebuck but what all pitching because everyone should know that pitching is what wins down the stretch towards the playoffs.
  9. you are correct edblu they do have nothing to lose...except the remaining games on the schedule. i would like to wish j.w. the best of luck at his new position, but warn him to keep his head under the size of a hot air balloon, because its going to be a brand new ball game for him, a lot more for him to think about, and i dont know anyone who has just switched positions like this and been successful immidiately. however, maybe he will prove me wrong. hopefully this is the beginning of something good to come for hf football. good luck j.w. ill be there friday night to see your debut (if you read this) pull 'em through
  10. well i guess jw has his work cut out for him. trying to turn hf's fortunes around. i just hope his head doesnt get too big because playing qb for varsity will be a big difference than that of jv. i know he played some games on varsity, but not at qb. it will take some time for him to adjust, but hey who knows maybe he is the answer to the horn's misfortune. but it still is not only him, his head coach will have to make the right calls to put him in the right places at the right time. i have to be honest, i never thought id see the day j.w. was giving the ball and not receiving it. with that being said, i have absolutely no clue about what to think about the score. think about it, both teams are out of the playoffs, so all they are playing for is pride. now, i dont know about o.f., but hf has had problems with that, i mean they their biggest runner quit because things werent going so hot. however, if jw (im not mentioning his full name) can step up and prove that he should be the starting qb, maybe itll spark some kind of fire in the horns. if not, we'll see more of the same. ill still take hf in this one hf-20 of-14
  11. question: how clear is lakewater? because sam rayburn isnt very clear, it leaves a brown stain on my boat. do you mean clear as creekwater maybe? because all of the creek water ive seen looks like tap water
  12. im not sure what jasper has returning, but is the kid that had a hurt elbow last year back or did he graduate?? if he is still in school, they will be a tough team however, i know that silsbee has schooling returning and from what ive heard a "stud" lefty, and bc has stringer and another good pitcher returning (cant remember his name but i believe it is stringer's step brother) so i see silsbee and bc fighting it out and if jasper returns its pitchers, i see a three way battle for first. but you know, with as big as this district is and all the talent in it i think everyone has a chance, i wouldnt count anyone out until they begin district because remember no matter how bad a teams pre-district record is, when district rolls around, it's a whole new ball game
  13. yes, hfs offense seems to be getting weaker and weaker, but hey, their defense is a force to be reckoned with. they have kept all games except the wos game within 6, so if some miracle happens and the offense puts more than 7 points on the board, it may get interesting. im not sure what to think about the score, it is hf's homecoming, and hf always gives of a run for their money. i havent seen ramsey play but hfs defensive coordinator will have a few stunts to try and stop his long passes. i think this one is closer than everyone is saying. im going to say hf scores 2 more times than they have the past 4 games (however, im not saying it will be the offense, special teams or defense may come into play). hf-20 of-14
  14. edblu, i thought i would just throw a couple names of past hf players out there to see if anyone in the sophomore class matches up to them athletically. Spencer George - Tennessee Titans, Rice University, 4-year letterman Felvin Malvo-University of Michigan, 4 year letterman (these two guys played on the same team and came a game or two from state) Cedric Larnette-Blinn Junior College, 4 year letterman.
  15. i think i can level with you on this subject matter numbertwo
  16. i am going with my home team HF-7 Jasper-6 (jasper kicker misses xp)
  17. to the person who began this post: first of all, you obviously do not pay attention to much football besides the final score and how many times you hear cherokee in one night because you do not understand that as a high school coach, you can not recruit kids to come and play for you (unless you are dan hooks of course). with that being said, you cannot expect to make it 4 rounds in playoffs every year. yes png has a very strong background in football, but every once in a while you are just going to be down in the talent pool. not to say that the kids arent good athletes but also look at the district you are in. in high school you are going to have ups and downs and you just have to live with it. i know png hates losing but you know there are some teams that havent been to the playoffs in a long time and now you are getting a little taste of what they go through while you are basking in glory. so no, burnett should not be fired, you have seen what the man has done for png football, i mean he took your indians to a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for cryin out loud. so just swallow the fact that they will not make playoffs this year and get ready for next season.
  18. ramsey vs dishon ramsey 21-dishon 20
  19. first off, let me just say that i am not choosing sides when i post this. it is strictly from what ive seen from both teams. i have seen both teams play and i know both have some outstanding players. however, i saw wos as being the more physical of the two and definitely faster as a team. also, seeing that silsbee ran the ball most of the time against hamshire and having a tough time scoring worries me about silsbees chances against west oranges defense. granted hamshire has a very well coached defense but ive seen west oranges defense play too and they are fast and physical. silsbee will have to find some sort of passing game to be able to keep up with wos high powered offense unless somehow silsbees defense shuts wos down. not that i am going for west orange, but from what ive seen and took in, i say west orange stark, just too fast and physical for silsbee. i say 49-17 go ahead silsbee fans let me hear it i know you hate me now
  20. my mistake on the "best class" discussion, i just thought we were talking just baseball so i apologize. i will agree that they are very athletic in football as well, but i believe that the offense will have to play to thier strengths, which is speed, and open it up a little, run a little urban meyer offense and not try and run over people that has been hfs mentality forever, then they will be successful. until then, we will see pretty much the same results. the guy you are talking about is michael lange and he will pitch this year and yes he is a senior but travis moore is a junior and he may be battling lange for the 3rd base spot, but i also heard courville may want to try it at third too. although i still see courville, daigle, wright, minaldi, and a few more fighting for spots in the outfield. i know no one is guaranteed a spot because i played for landry for 4 years and everyone starts from scratch and earns their positions
  21. yes coop they do look loaded, but what about the 06 Indians?? they were loaded and had a losing record, so being loaded doesnt always mean they will be good
  22. id have to say nederland or port neches fans are the best. they are always dressed in their school colors, and they are always LOUD. its always a sea of black for nederland and a sea of purple for png. its really awesome to go to midcounty madness, walk to one end of the field and look into the stands and see all the black and purple. there are not too many high school's fans that can totally black out or purple out one side of a stadium that holds around 10000 people.
