  1. I am a retired fantasy football owner. With 6 Super Bowl wins. And I will say this. Maybe the funniest post I have ever seen on here. I guess this is the Montgomery Mentality…….
  2. I will make my one post of the year. It is hard to stay elite, and PNG has done it for 2 years. This game has all the makings of an upset. Winning streak, SC, rivalry game. Defensively, we are not at the elite level we have been. Containment has been a big issue. Nederland has surprised me, and a lot of others as well. If it comes to a shoot out, it’s anyone’s game. I do not see it a a blow out on either side, and I think it’s a toss up on who wins. Nederland showed some grit last night. Whoever shows up ready to play will win this one. If I was a betting man, I wouldn’t bet…. The 2 things PNG STRUGGLES at, is what Nederland is good at. QB scrambling and RB speed off the edge. For PNG to win, we will need to control the clock, and pound the rock. And make a few crucial stops. This will be a very interesting game. And the DC could be decided Friday night. Going to be a very interesting game.
  3. Keyboard warriors!!!!! At it again.!! All the posts of more talent elsewhere need to be deleted!! He just out talented SOC!! Now, do I think Katy is a possibility, yes I do, for him and McDaniel. However, he has a very big opportunity to build something right here. He’s played in 2 SC games in 2 years and won one!! Is that for lack of talent??? You tell me.. Nobody, other than WOS can say they did this… If he gets a few kids, like the Nederland RB, PNG, can make a run again. It’s not impractical to have this happen in our area. PNG has all the support in the world. So he may leave one day, he may not. I don’t see it this year, he has a shot at doing something really special. Lots of talent coming back. Including a QB, WR, and RB..
  4. I would not sleep on LH. This is going to be a game. The deception in the offense will score points. We will need to play our game and stay turnover free. No punks left in the semi round. These guys know what we do, and we know what they do. I expect a tight game, unlike last year. Watch the game film. Expect them to load the box, and crash the end like everyone else is doing. We will have to adjust to win this one. However I expect “Red” to have a good plan for us, as he always does. If we can throw the ball enough, and keep them off balance, we can win. I do think we are the better matchup against SOC. But that’s another story for another week.
  5. On a serious note. It’s a far cry from the old days. Waking up, reading what Bob West or Tom Halliburton wrote up Tuesday through Friday. The area coverage definitely isn’t what it once was. The rivalry is a lot calmer than it once was… I had a hand in burning some strategic letters on a certain field. But this game never goes as planned, other than the Ethridge years, Malone years, and Neauman years. So I expect it to be a battle from beginning to end. No prediction, because this game is simply unpredictable…… I do think it’s a huge game for Monte. But we are getting closer.
  6. Man o man. The plot has thickened. I was told by a super reliable source, that Ned plans to suit out, Sumrall, Mosely, Driskell, Seay, and put Sullivan atQB. Complete Athlete was seen making the jerseys for them. Word was Uncle Larry asked Washington to suit up as well, but he declined to watch the PAM game. If this is true, and I’m sure it is, this might be a ball game.
  7. I have heard conflicting stories. Word around the water cooler is the secret practice is only a diversion. There will be a midnight session at Bobby’s Homestyle, word is Coach Klein is giving his secret playbook to MB. However Uncle Larry will be handing it over. Now the key to this is it is all on an IPAD. So this could be interesting if he cannot smuggle the IPAD in the game. I have been told the Nederland drumline will be beating on garbage cans to steal signals for the defense. So after hearing all this, the spread has tightened up. Should be a pick ‘em by game time. And yes, City of Nederland will be issuing a no water usage statement on Thursday for a 4 mile radius around Bullpup Stadium. This will allow the fire department to soak the new turf. Supposed to have a prominent member of the city council make an announcement as early as tomorrow on the cost to the taxpayers of Nederland. His closing statement will be, this is your tax money, not your daddy’s money!
  8. I can’t afford mailboxes!! I’m still trying to figure out if the game is at Lamar or Nederland. I did get a seat next to Uncle Larry, but have to find another. My “buttocks” is 15 inches wide while standing and while deflated and sitting it is 17.35743 inches. So I can’t squeeze in my original spot. However, I will figure it out, just a bum deal I bought a $5 ticket and it will go to waste. But then again, it’s just daddy’s money. You know, you can’t have a Texas A&M without having the Texas Longhorns. Always need a big brother!!! Must be the military marching style that has to look up to the big boys!! Not sure what else I can say without getting my street cred pulled from under me!!!!
  9. Long time listener, first time caller!! This game has been close over the past decade. I have seen blowouts as well. So let me ruffle some feathers for the rah rahs. This game is a make or break game for Nederland on a yearly basis. The Ned fans on here hang hats on district championships and wins over PNG. It’s really all they have! On the other hand, PNG is and always has been relevant. All trash talkers know this! However, it’s a hard game to predict. Uncle Larry isn’t around anymore to pull some cats out of his bag, so it’s up to Monty to make or break his season. Uncle Larry left when the transfer portal closed when Memorial became relevant. But In the end, Ned did get a new field, and they have a shot. With a win, they have a shot at the DC. But I think even teams like Chumperton have won a DC before. So in the end, this game is either a tight game, full of mistakes, or a PNG blowout. But after the dust has settled, them folks will still be barking like dogs……… Peace Folks! I come in peace. I’ve been a pollster on here, I’ve won the pick ems on here, and I’ve been banned for a few days on here. So with all that experience, no need to listen to what I say unless………… Are you down with “ who let the dogs out?” Or down with hardware?
  10. I have tried to explain a million times. It’s not arrogance, cockiness, or disrespect. It’s simply SWAG. I started out my school days on an election year. The teachers gave us a choice to be republican, democrat, or independent. I chose Independent simply because it allowed me to wear an I on my shirt all day, of course it was crayoned purple. It’s said we are taught Cherokee day 1. That’s actually a myth, we all knew it by heart before the alphabet. Most will never understand, I have even heard of us being called the “The Purple Cult”… once again, it’s just misunderstood. Ironically, our rivals understand it the best. That’s why you see all of mid county supporting our games. I grew up in the 80s, hearing about the 70s, in a time we were led by a great guy, just not a good coach. That all changed in 89. In came Danny Malone. And he brought that SWAG back, Burnett carried it on, Fairclothe carried the torch, now Joseph continues the tradition. So what started out as playing football at recess, dreaming of being an Indian, ends with a shot at a SC this Friday. We are no longer a powerhouse, we are not a place people want to move or transfer to, we are just PNG Indians. Not the biggest, fastest, or strongest. Just a team playing with heart and support. These kids are dogs, they come to play and don’t quit. Always the underdog, yet playing week 16. A proud community, wanting a SC and that attendance record back. So for all of you who don’t understand us, we don’t expect you too. But we will say this, come be part of the family Friday night. You won’t regret the experience. A big joke on this board is ATMOSPHERE…. Come be part of it Friday, and make history. You won’t regret it. No matter what team or color you represent or bleed, we are one big ole family this Friday. Peace…. love…..
  11. This game will be a god indication of our coaching staff and their ability to game plan. The passing game we used last week, will be non existent against WOS. Defensively WOS will play tight and bring pressure, you won’t see a CB playing 10 yards off the ball. I’m anxious to see how this shakes out. For PNG to win, I think it will need to be a strong performance by the O Line, Tommy will need to run for 100+ yards, and no turnovers on the PNG side, if we can do that, and make it a competitive game, we have a shot to win in the end. If we turn the ball over, as we did against Memorial, it will be a long night.
  12. I think best defensive effort in 10 years. In position and not a ton of missed tackles. Tommy ran the ball well, and hard. I’m by no means expecting a State Championship run, but if we can stop turning the ball over, we can stay in games. Scheme wise, I have no issues with what we are doing. I like what the tall QB is doing when given the opportunity. Although not sure it’s legal for the announcer to say we have a change at QB before 4th down. But a much better performance on the defensive side of the ball IMO. Offensive line played well and gave the RBs plenty of room to run. I would love to see QB2 get more plays, he has a knack for big plays and not turning the ball over, although he doesn’t have the big arm, just from what I have seen, he doesn’t run timid, and doesn’t shy away from contact, and is very mobile and fast. I like what I seen this week. Next week will be tough competition versus a team we have beaten 2 times in 40 years, so we will see how it all shakes out.
  13. We all know I was ahead of the game in breaking the news.. but it is very enjoyable sitting back and eating my popcorn!!! I had to sneak in the game in disguise since I have been banned from the stadium and my tickets have been given away to one of the 25 cheerleaders family. I have even been banned from Texan Live.. These people in power have more pull than I had ever imagined. If I would have graduated in the early to mid 80s I would have better opportunities!!!
  14. I think scheme wise we are ok. I just think if he wants to be a ball control type of offense, and not a high power attack, he will need to build a few players through the years to make a good defense. We have not played defense in 12 years. These kids are not going to learn how to tackle or even understand assignments in a few weeks and a scrimmage. It takes years of practice and game time to understand that. So I’m not giving up on the whole situation, but being realistic, it’s just going to take time and a little more talent.
  15. If you have any type of football IQ, this game wasn’t a surprise outcome. As for the new coach, if anyone expected him to start out 11-0 like BF, that was a high expectation. I did not see enough to even know if we are good or bad. When you have that many turnovers, it’s impossible to win. I do think he has a good new outlook on what he has, versus practice. I think he seen QB1 and what his difficulties are. BF was good at hiding a few. Possibly the sloppiest game I have seen in at least 15 years. But plenty of room to improve. A few bright spots as well. I do think PAM is better competition than what most played this week, they are good but not deep at all. I hope PNG can pull a 6-4 or 5-5 season together and sneak in the playoffs. And to the comments about the school board and administration. I wouldn’t want to be one of them today!
  16. Well, it’s time for the non rah rah post!! I have watched some scrimmages, and I will say this. I love the energy, and I love the fact they are getting coached up. The few moves Joseph made are interesting, mainly because Loftin at NG was done rather quickly, which shows me he has done some homework. I actually told his mom before it was made, he needed to be at NG, and it happened quick. The CB coming back that was suspended last year is a big help as well. He is the fastest kid on the defensive side of the ball. Am i expecting miracles? No. I do think we will see improvement. I also like Landon on defense as well, he brings swag. I think the hope, would be to sneak in as a 2 seed best case, and go in the playoffs an underdog and sneak up on teams. Tommy is getting a fresh start as well with BF gone, and if he can stay healthy he will have a good season at RB. Only time will tell, I think our non district games will help us out a lot. We are undersized in several positions, but I think the main goal is to tackle and do some fundamental stuff well, that we haven’t done in years. I’m not sure if we are going to be better record wise, but i do think you will see a better effort all around, versus years past. For the outsides, a lot of people had lost faith in BF, so I think a change will help motivate, and bring a new energy, as we seen in the inter squad scrimmages.
  17. I don’t actually know you. But you are in the know.
  18. You know, in all reality, with my Tecmo Bowl experience, I could make a few changes as the DC and make it a better defense. Just sayin……
  19. Everyone seems to be half glass empty on this hire. I think it might be a home run. He has a hell of a tree of communication. He has been around winning cultures. He is a phone call away for advice from several legit SC winning coaches. He is defensive minded, young, and bringing in a good OC. He came highly recommended, and due to the fact he was out of coaching a few years, was available. Versus what could have been, I think they possibly made a great choice. Time will tell, but i am not sure why all the unrest with all the rah rahs. Jump on board with this guy and you might all be surprised…….. What people seem to forget, is with RJ, if we would have had a defense, and not all loaded up on offense, we could have made a run. For all the BF lovers, all we heard was MB only made a run because of Dustin Long… Well he made that run when BF couldn’t with RJ…Are we SC contenders… nope…. But this could be a good hire. New blood, comes from winning cultures, and will get great advice from people in the know of TX HS Football. Maybe another Danny Malone here. BF is gone, let’s move forward.
  20. Brilliant move. Dodge is a guy If you read my original post from a few months back that I mentioned. He knows how to build a culture. And that’s what PNG needs. After all the negative publicity, I think after sitting back and looking at the big picture the powers that be got it right. Do I think you will see big names on the list? No… But I do think you can find another guy like BF, and with the help of a TD, change the culture. Just my opinion, and as you all know my only coaching experience is Tecmo Bowl..
  21. I did last night as well. Although I have many years experience playing Tecmo Bowl, I have decided I cannot handle the political aspects of the job. My Masters in TB was accredited if anyone is wondering!!
  22. This thing is going to be interesting for sure. The only public statement made has been by one school board member. And he stated this has nothing to do with anyone but Fairclothe wanting out. So the job is posted, time will tell. Everyone knows the 2 names that have been thrown around. At this point, IMO, the school board will do a diligent job and find the best candidate available, because in all honesty, if they don’t, re election will be difficult. The plot thickens!!!!!!
