  1. So basically, P.N.G. has the P.A.M. 3rd teamer starting and Nederland will have the 4th teamer starting at QB??
  2. I will make the same comment I made last year on PAM. I think talent wise, they are a class above the whole district. Just not quite sure X Box has what it takes to go outright DC. But if any team has a chance, the odds are with PAM. I think PN-G can go 9-1 with 1 district loss.
  3. Its going to be a good season. Looking for PAM and PNG to make some noise in the district...
  4. Delbert Spell and David Crommett are 2 of the best in the business...
  5. My thanks goes out to SETXSPORTS.... At the end of the day, you guys come together not only for PNG, but all the local athletes. It's not easy work and I assure it is greatly appreciated by many...... THANKS!!! Also to the many great sponsors, without you guys none of this would have happened..... Keep it local!!! I for one support sponsors like all of you......
  6. Best Saturday at work all year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats NDNs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Morse, Hranicky, Petix and Vidrine if needed. I like our chances....
  8. I will step in on this comment! W.O.S. has not demolished P.N.G.. even when J.D.3 and those guys made a run to the title game his Sophomore year. Albeit, I pull for W.O.S all the time due to my bros over that way. But it has been a good contest the last few times these teams have played. And I often wonder about the comment of using R.J. too much. If the kid had 1200 yards passing last year and 400 yards rushing last year. You would not see the hype he is getting. That being said. To be the #1 Dual Threat in the state you have to put up #1 numbers. Now I agree that P.N.G. does not have near the talent that the big boys have. But I will also state, a football team is made up of 11 starters on each side of the ball. I agree R.J. is a talent, but he has 10 other kids on the field busting their you know whats to help him be a game breaker. So, my point, I guess, is this. We are doing decent for what we have. And to the coaching statement. I think offensively, we are the best coached team in the area. Period......... Defensively, we might be the worst coached in the area...... We all know W.O.S. is the cream of the crop. But IMO, Central, Memorial, and Nederland, pretty much outathlete P.N.G. in district play every year. And since BF showed up, offensively, we have been decent against all of those teams. Memorial is a beast, they have plenty of D1 talent, Central will be better, and Nederland will be interesting.... So in my smart elic voice. Sleep on us if you want to. It will not be the first time.............. Gripe about using the kid........ But Scouts will not gripe about the massive numbers he will put up... And call us a 1 trick pony..... Its happened for years.... And once again in my smart elic voice........... Maybe one day we can be the MECCA.... Like Crosby....................
  9. Great man and coach at PN-G. Knowing him since I was a youngster allowed me to have many great conversations with him over the years. Mostly about football. I usually ask him a question every year at a game to get sort of a history lesson. And to my recollection, I do not remember him ever missing a home game.. His record speaks for himself, not only in sports, but in life......
  10. Yeah. I am OK!!!! Monte is a great guy. But he has been a lifetime assistant. For someone to say he is better than any head coach IMO is a stretch.... I think he is the perfect fit for Nederland. But last I looked, he has ZERO wins as a head coach. I do think he will do well, but I do think there will be growing pains. Every move he makes will be scrutinized, starting with his QB situation... Just my thoughts............
  11. I have known Monte for a long time. I am glad he got the job. Ill leave it at that.......
  12. Folks must also understand. Since LN is gone...... PN-G will have the coaching advantage over the rest of the district as well.... Yeah.... I said it!!!!
  13. Vince Young, who IMO, is the best dual threat I have seen in college football..... Put up almost 13,000 yards in his high school career. So i am not quite sure what OVERUSED is. He seemed to do fine in college, and was the rookie of the year in the NFL. In todays world of R.P.O.s and spread offenses, its a dual threat QB dream. I see R.J. putting up similar numbers to what he did last year. Injuries are football. That goes for every team, so I leave that out of the equation. I base my rankings on talent. I never base on JV games, because they are exactly that, JV games. I would think if P.N.G.s top 3 skills guys would have been on JV last year, they would have been rather salty, however they where rather salty on Varsity... (R.J.-Riggs, Hughes).... SO that being said.... Based on talent. 1. Memorial 2. P.N.-G. 3. Nederland 4. Central Memorial should be better than last year, due to a dual threat QB. Disciplined defenses struggle with one thing, and that is a mobile QB, so I look for them to go through the district untested with the exception of P.N.G. But I just think defensively, P.N.G. cant stop them. P.N.G. has the top 3 skills players coming back, and should give Memorial a run, but I think will ultimately fall short by that 1 game. Nederland will be average, but will get back to the playoffs. LN was a legend in those parts, MB will need to get the same respect in order to keep the program thriving...... Central has enough athletes to get in the mix. I look at them to get in for the 4th spot. Depending on the coach and scheme, they could fall anywhere from 2 to 4 in the standings. But all this hinges on the D1 and D2 thing....... Vidor is just so one dimensional, I think they will be hard pressed to beat the Mid County teams and Memorial... The rest of the teams play hard, they just do not have much talent....
  14. My exact thoughts...... I am not a idiot, and did rather well in math......... But its back to participant ribbons and trophies......
  15. Everyone knows my thoughts... Pretty sure, the story goes, Always be faithful to Purple and White........ Next thing you know we will be marching in under the stands like Highland Park!!!
  16. Just when you thought the UIL could not water it down anymore......... BAM.............. Everyone gets a Participant Ribbon.............
  17. I think Nederland ISD made the hire knowing several things. If Nederland ISD planned on paying big money on a coach and upgrading facilities over the next few years, they would have gone outside. But in the name of continuity, and the fact upgrades might night be in the plans, it was really a simple choice. Congrats to Monte. IMO he deserved a shot. And as I stated from the beginning, under the circumstances, he was the best choice.
  18. That is an interesting take on things. Do you think if players leave they will have a chance to play at other schools? I did not realize the mood in Nederland was of this nature.
  19. As I posted from the beginning..... Well I guess I might be the BAD guy here. LN was great for Nederland. He turned them from the laughing stock of the district into a contender for the DC yearly. I would think Nederland would be better off hiring Monte over an outsider. My reasons are this.. Nederland has been good at being a little above average. They are not making deep playoff runs on a regular basis. And we all know the facilities are not the best in the area, much less the state. That being said, I find it hard to believe they could get a better qualified, dedicated coach like Monte to replace LN. Big time coaches are looking for money, facilities, and athletes. Not bashing any Nederland coach or fan, because they have done better then everyone else in the district for years, and have been the only glimmer of hope many of years to go a few rounds. I just think as a whole, if I was looking for a place to coach.. I would first ask, why are bonds never passed in Nederland? Why do we have old facilities? And what does my feeder schools look like for athletes. And of course, how much money are you going to pay me!!! LN was a special coach that fit perfect in the city of Nederland. And IMO, you already have a guy on the staff that knows the city, fans, and families, that is dedicated, and has been mentored by LN for years... Good luck on whatever happens.... But as I have stated for years, you can never count out Nederland because of the LN factor.... It might be interesting now.... AthleticSupporter - Jock, Jag Insider, PlayActionPass and 3 others like this And that pretty much sums up 19 pages of this...... Quote
  20. Looks like B.I.S.D. has a ton of rebuilding to do.. Starting with the AD and going all the way down... Good Luck...
