  1. Elandon Roberts playing with the Patriots Babineaux playing with the Falcons
  2. Hell I want to chime in.... I think Nederland is in a bad spot. LN was doing a lot with a little. Lets use a high profile name for sake of argument. Donaher has applied at PN-G twice. Last go around, he came in, looked at the facilities, looked at the schools, then met the athletes. He quickly pulled his name out of the hat afterwards. Any good coach will do that. I think a young, inexperienced coach might come in, but, after a look at the the above mentioned, a high profile guy will not be interested. This is Texas. U..I.L.... Home of recruitment wars in High School. If you do not have something to pull in kids, they are not going to come. Barrow is capable, and IMO the best choice. He will deal with all the shortcomings and try to keep the LN tradition alive. New coaches want new things, and I am just not sure Nederland is ready for it. I can say this, no one will do what LN did for Nederland. I would just try to keep the hope alive with a local guy that will make it work.... I think Nederland is short on facilities... Short on bond approvals.... Short on Corporate tax money, and short on P.A.M. talent. As everyone knows also, its very difficult for an outsider to be LOVED.... For sale sings and all that.... MONTE is the best chance in IMO................
  3. I have talked to several people in the know.... And It is almost 100% that the A.D. position will go to 14.2. The Head coaching position will more than likely be M.B.G. himself.... Stay tuned for more as it becomes available......
  4. Well I guess I might be the BAD guy here. LN was great for Nederland. He turned them from the laughing stock of the district into a contender for the DC yearly. I would think Nederland would be better off hiring Monte over an outsider. My reasons are this.. Nederland has been good at being a little above average. They are not making deep playoff runs on a regular basis. And we all know the facilities are not the best in the area, much less the state. That being said, I find it hard to believe they could get a better qualified, dedicated coach like Monte to replace LN. Big time coaches are looking for money, facilities, and athletes. Not bashing any Nederland coach or fan, because they have done better then everyone else in the district for years, and have been the only glimmer of hope many of years to go a few rounds. I just think as a whole, if I was looking for a place to coach.. I would first ask, why are bonds never passed in Nederland? Why do we have old facilities? And what does my feeder schools look like for athletes. And of course, how much money are you going to pay me!!! LN was a special coach that fit perfect in the city of Nederland. And IMO, you already have a guy on the staff that knows the city, fans, and families, that is dedicated, and has been mentored by LN for years... Good luck on whatever happens.... But as I have stated for years, you can never count out Nederland because of the LN factor.... It might be interesting now....
  5. Another one for the good guys..................... They can talk about whoever they want, but WOS is the TRUTH.............. Congrats Stangs..... You had the entire county pulling for you.............. Class Act......... Always have been............ Always will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Agree 100%...... R.J. will be the best dual threat QB to come out of P.N.G. But comparisons to any QB we have ever had are just hard to do. Comparisons to D.L. as a sophomore are from 20 years ago. Times have changed, the game has changed. Hell, they take double the teams in the playoffs that they did in 99. As I said before the season, when everyone said there was a QB competition... There can never be a competition, because, R.J. is the best athlete on the field. I stay away from comparisons, because they simply do not make sense. So, in conclusion...... Lets enjoy the ride with R.J.... It will be a fun one..... I will say this.... It used to be fun to watch what DL would do on a 3rd down, because you knew he would sling it to someone and get the first... But with R.J. its even more exciting on a 3rd down... He might throw it, run it, hurdle someone.... Its fun to watch.....
  7. Was just curious, since I seen the PNG injuries where made public the week before....
  8. I did not see a injury report for any of those guys in the Port Arthur News.............. I know the week before the list for PNG was printed...........
  9. Look PAK.... PAM has more talent than any team in the district... By a mile... The reason all of us OTHERS get excited about a few playoff wins is simple... We do not have tons of D1 athletes oozing out every year.. By a landslide PAM does.... So we are coached up as much as our undersized slow kids can go... We have a few studs in the mix... Against PAM, PNG had only 1 kid that would have started on that team... And he would have played DB more than likely... Not QB as he does for us..... That is just facts... Put BF or LN over at PAM... I promise they bust Temple in the butt with all the talent you guys have... So my conclusion is this.... Do not hate on all of us......
  10. Special teams biting us again. But a lot of time left. Need to make a stop.
  11. Thanks for the Intel... I'm sure the CS readers appreciate the scouting report......
  12. Well if I had a gameplan. It would be this... Load the box, keep the QB spied, and make them throw for 400 yards to beat us... After watching film it's quite obvious we cannot play bend but not break against these guys... Make them one dimensional and try to get a few turnovers. Offensively I would try and stay balanced throwing slants, and quick passes.. I would stay away from the bubbles, and run the RB as much as the QB on the ZR... Occasionally mixing in a deep ball to keep them honest.. I would mix in gadget plays as well..... If we can do this and play turnover free, we can win........
  13. Having dealt with the STJFL in the forming years, I know first hand what Lumberton football is about.. It starts at the lower levels and continues all the way up to varsity... It's a mentality.. The Raiders need to change that from bottom to top.. People laugh at the abuse BF and LN get when losing, for that matter even, Riordon... But it only makes everyone better... Coaches, kids, fans, etc... It's not about facilities, it's about mentality.. WOS is your prime example.. They have a mentality. A SWAG... When a team loses, you see angry fans from these towns, that resonates to players and coaches.... No punch thrown, but when Lumberton loses, you see a moral victory... It's a we are all winners mentality.... When that changes, possibly, the program will change... I don't know the tradition side, however it does appear a lot of kids transfer for one reason or another.... If Babin is well liked in the community, I would stick with him.. See if he can build a program.. As Rob said, Lumberton is not loaded with talent, so a playoff appearance now and again should be good... With PAM, PNG, Central, and Nederland, it will be tough to get in the 4 spots yearly... But when it happens build on it.. Vidor runs the slot or wing, becuse that's the best system to run when your not loaded with athletes. So start that mentality with Lumberton... Hard nosed... I root for Vidor because regardless of their record, they are going to give 110% and I can respect that... So in conclusion, build on what you have and make it better.... It takes a special guy, like. Mathews to stick it out year after year in a non successful situation. So if Babin is willing to do it, I would embrace it... Trust me Vidor goes through a lot of losing, but every once in a while that magical season comes around and it's very special to the community and the program.. They embrace it and the kids feed of it....
  14. Ice cream vs Custard... We are past all that..... Round 3... Who you got and why?
  15. Lang and Gholke.. Both Beasts.. I am not taking anything away from the rest of the D... But those 2.... Like a murderers row...
  16. Good post.. But I would put my money on PAM for the class of both districts.. They will be even better next year with a dual threat QB and Hines...
  17. I am a realist, not a rah rah... I think if we play our A game for 4 quarters we can win.. The only problem is that we have not played 4 full quarters of A game against anyone yet... But if we do, I think we can win... Turnover free, clock managed, no penalties football......
  18. Can you give me some numbers and stats on the inured Titan? Also who will be his backup and what are his weaknesses? Give it now, or it will come out in the paper for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Average score for PNG is 37-19 Average score for College Station is 48-11
