Nederland Bulldogs at Texas City Stingarees
Stattrax replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
I can’t imagine the rankings. If Nederland is the number 7 team in the state, it’s a off year in Texas High School Football. I have seen film, and watched them for 4 quarters against us. And nothing told me they are a top 10 team. Double Fusiler, and contain the QB and your golden. They are small, not super fast, and did not have a RB against us. The QB did the running. I think they finish 3 or 4. Depending on BH. Crosby cake walks through the district, BH and TC game will decide number 2 and 3, then Nederland. Dayton might be a wild card, but against us, I didn’t see a team capable of beating a good team. -
I’m not sure about backups, but I would man up, spy the QB, and take some chances. We have athletes on the defensive side of the ball. They are just out of position. Simplify it, and make the QB beat you with accurate passes. Pound the rock and limit possessions. Don’t get cute in the play calling and keep it a one possession game. Its worth a shot!!!!!

You know it!

Agreed. But I’ll save my comments on that for another week!

Call me what you want, but I was not impressed with Nederland at all. Do not take a win over PNG as a tall hill you had to climb. This PNG team might be the 2nd team in the participant ribbon era to not make the playoffs. And for what it’s worth, somehow PNG made a game of it with Nederland. I’ll take TC by 14 or more. -
PNG has one game plan that can result in a victory. And it’s man up on defense, and pound the rock 40 times. We cannot play from behind, because offensively we are not real good. Poor decisions are made with the football each game. Our strength this year, is our bands halftime performance. I take BH by no less than 21… I hate to keep saying I told you so but I have been pretty spot on since day 1. This will leave us having to beat TC. But it will be the only legitimate shot we have IMO.

Well, if you folks read back. I have been spot on since the preseason. Here’s what I have for this week. This is a winnable game for PNG. That being said, it doesn’t mean PNG will win. If you watch film, Dayton will put up points. Some good news, we should be getting back what would be our best RB next week. With the current RB doing well, possibly we add one of our best athletes on the defense. Or flip those 2 around. We need help on both sides of the ball, so this should help. If we can beat Dayton, we will still be in the mix, but will need to beat BH down the road. All these are opinions based on my Tecmo Bowl experience. A loss to Dayton, we will be out of the playoff mix IMO.. The offense needs a leader IMO as well.

Nederland at Port Neches-Groves/Nederland wins MCM 38-28!

Hard to say. 2 pick sixes didn’t help. But a few questionable play calls and definitely momentum was with Nederland the 4th quarter. But I say it a bunch, no quit in the Dogs. -

Quite Pathetic. Give it to Nederland, they made the plays and kept their heads up. Monte keeps those guys mentally tuff. -

Congrats to the dogs. Coaching and play making in the game was a deciding factor. -
Praying for the upset. 14 point dogs. Need this win for a shot at the playoffs.

Rivalry games…. You never know. I will go out on a limb and say this much. PNG will need to get it together for the W. We have some key players back from injury which should help tremendously. But, we will need to score some points in order to make this a game. If we are playing from behind, we just do not have the firepower to make it a shoot out. But as far as history goes, this game usually proves history wrong. 20 in a row. 7 in a row, 4 out of 5, means absolutely zilch…. So whatever team is prepared, usually takes it home.

89 and 96 by far the best defenses I have seen followed by 99.

Dayton 2015. Just came to me.

What years am I missing on 2nd round? Doty and Shug. Who else? Good job on numbers. That takes some data fetching for sure.

I don’t get on much anymore. You know my Mind set!! I’ll say this. And I have said it before. Bost was super duper underrated. He was on an average team but made it good. And he had ice water in his veins. He was able to win big games, which would be Nederland. And was a great athlete. Shug was Shug. He was a generational type. And he took us to the 3rd round. If I was to rank a top 5. It would be Shug, Long, Ethridge… all tied at one…. Then Robertson, Doty, Bost, and Musser. I am a hardware type guy, just my opinion. I think Adam is a great kid and close to the top 5 mark. And I’m glad to see all them get an education. Bost is very gifted athletic wise, and much underrated. I think taking a snap for an SEC team proves that! BF has a great scheme and when he has the right pieces it’s very productive. I’m not sure if he has a playoff win without Shug and Doty, so I understand your statement @CougarCal but it is impressive to have 3 taking some sort of snap on the same Saturday.

I think if PNG will make a few changes personnel wise, this game will not be close. This isn’t rocket science. Put Bergeron at corner, Gohlke at safety, and Wilson Weber at Sam. Move R. Johnson to RB, Long to QB, and have Mgill in the slot and this game isn’t close. Not sure why I am the only one who can see this. Might even try Lumceford and Whitehead on the line. Just my thoughts on the practices I have watched. I think Riggs is over his turf toe as well. So he should be ready come game time. Waguepack can handle the kicking duties for the game if need be if Sandel isn’t back.
