No one would be too interested in "rumblings" from Robert E Lee. Out of pure speculation, and the fact that the 5A D1 district has weaker talent/teams than the D2 district, it wouldnt surprise me if Asbeck and the Hill decided to opt up.

It was in jest, hence the comment in parenthesis

I won’t dispute what ur saying Bc I’m pretty sure it’s accurate information. My response however, is how can you disagree with me, given the fact there’s never been playoff run in school history. Early in the program history they strung a few seasons together, and won multiple district games and got to the playoffs, the last being in 2013, and have had 4 play off games in school history without a playoff win. 11 varsity football seasons, zero playoff wins. Sterling has been to the playoffs 1 time since 1986, when they got beat by WOS in the dome, in 1972, their 4th year of Football, they played Odessa Permian for the state championship and got beat. Not too many people know that. Then 10 yrs later in 82’ they lost to the Jerry Ball bruins form WB, but after losing on penetrations to wOS in 86, their run was done, and for 35 years it hasn’t changed. and lee had a good run under Olin in the late 90s early 2000s, but haven’t sniffed the postseason since. So going strictly by program history, with the exception of a couple good seasons here and there(years ago) combined by all the public schools in Baytown. There’s NOTHING that suggests, any kind of sustainability for a constant winner in football, for any of the 3. Im not being a pessimist or bad mouthing any coaches or players, I have nothing bad to say about their effort or dedication, it’s the demographics, strictly a numbers issue, and it always will be with 3 schools in a city the size of Baytown. Had we gone to 1 school, and the Baytown Memorial Oilers, Mosquitoes, Gangeriots(whatever the mascot would have been) taken the field, it would have been exciting, to be able to have the entire community getting behind the kids, and seeing Stallworth with 7500-10000 people at home games Bc the team is in the hunt every year, but instead our kids play in front of empty stadiums, unless on the road, Bc 3-7, 1-9, those kind of records don’t beg for exitemnt that you need to put butts in the seats. Just dealin in facts, but Cinderella is always looking for a date, and I’m counting on her to give our boys a chance for the next 4 years. As long as ur prepared to go without a date to the dance, the let down doesn’t sting near as bad, as holdin on to false hopes, that we have to convince ourselves are actually feasible.

The filtering idea is not even an option, first off as soon as an Influx of kids left one to go to the other there would nine kinds of Hell raised, granted there are a few right now that have transferred for one reason or another over the years, but the kind of migration it would take for one of the 3 schools to become a playoff mainstay, is stuff of fairy tales, just won’t happen. With the the 3 school model in effect for the foreseeable future, you could feasibly single out one sport per school, to focus on. I.e. totally hypothetical here, but have GCM the “baseball” school”, REL the “basketball school” and RSS the “football school”. Baytown isn’t a huge metropolis that is too far to drive for any kid in the district. All the schools are within a 10mile radius. And with each high school having its own Academy that specialize in their own unique curriculum, and gccisd allowing students to attend one of the other 2 schools if the academy They Want is at that school. You could maybe pull it off that way, but it’s still a tall task. The short answer to this conundrum, is expectations need to be tempered in the football department, Bc when the one school option was shot down, so were the chances of ever making a deep run in the playoffs in Football.(Cinderella seasons not taken into consideration for this analysis)

2009 7-4 lost to Central @ the Babe 7-0 (last playoff appearance) 2012 6-4 (last winning season) throw in 0-10, 1-8, 4-6, 4-6, 4-6, 5-5, 4-6, and it’s a little more than a few seasons over the last decade, 2 winning seasons, in a decade screams for a different way of doing things. -

And that’s fine everybody has their own opinion we can agree to disagree. But to me it’s pretty cut and dry, when they moved on from Boyd, which was necessary and time for, they hired someone from his staff and kept all of the same coaches. The reason for letting him go/him resigning, was because the performance and record had fallen off it was time for a change. But change does not come unless everything is changed including the coaching staff. If you have a program where they’re losing and have that instilled in them Bc that’s all they’ve known, Then what makes anything change if the recipe stays the same. When you change head coaches the entire regime needs to go In order for total change to happen and a new philosophy combined with a new culture is required. By not doing this you set the program back by 4 years. Take Lee for example, they cleaned house brought in Finn and he’s turning that program around. They have fewer numbers than GCM and although they can’t stop a lot of people from scoring, they routinely score 40+ a game and remain competitive if not entertaining throughout. GCM has struggled to put quality units on the field for 4yrs under current regime. It’s not the coaches fault Bc they were set up for failure, the program needs a shot in the arm, to bring out more kids to the program and an overall make over to attract more talent. The kids put in a lot of work and should be commended, but another area of concern is the coaching at the junior high level. 99% of our kids at a certain jr high, can’t tell you what a 3 technique or lining up in a 7 or 9 means. And then you play the likes of Cunningham, North Shore MS , and they are on the sidelines, yelling for their kids to change into different techniques to adjust for the offensive alignment and they do it immediately. Our kids are at a disadvantage from the time they walk in to the high school doors districtwide. The high school coaches have to teach all these things when I get there because they weren’t taught in junior high immediately putting them behind the eight ball. You have to start from the bottom and go to the top with culture change and that’s what it’s going to take the kids to be successful. End of discussion -

There comes a time and point where, if you’re giving up 50+ points a game and getting beat every week, and ur avg margin of defeat for the last 3 years, is 36.8pts, it’s not the other team not being classy, it’s the product that’s put on the field that needs to be questioned. If you don’t like them scoring... do something about it and stop them. Those same kids playing basketball and baseball don’t get beat like that, and they fight their tails off to the end, but attitude reflects leadership, and it’s time to cut the head off the snake and go in an entirely new direction. -

Hadn’t seen him, haven’t had time look anywhere though, NS scores everytime they snap the ball, had long td called back for holding so they did it again the next play. They could score 127pts tongiht it they wanted to, no resistance
