And what a weekend for Orange County football. Possibly two District Championships on the line Friday and all 4 teams OC schools. WOS vs Orangefield and Vidor vs LCM. Wonder when was the last time this scenario happened (if ever)?

Perhaps this is “Underdogs Win Month”. A&M defeated Alabama 41-38. Maybe Vidor beats the vaunted Bears? We can only hope. And a question for y’all - Will the muddy field help either team?

Ironically, in 64 season the Pirates had an awesome passing attack. It’s possible they had more passing yards than any team in the Triangle. 😂😂😂

I can only guess that they still can’t get the old gold to hold its color. Every team I’ve seen with a uniform part gold, the part gold is usually yellow. That dark old gold was unique. Btw, to my knowledge, Ned has never had the old gold so we’d still be unique. @Tim Rigginsmight update my description. I was out of school then.

From my feeble memory. Old gold, not yellow, with white stripes over the shoulder outlined in black, as were the numbers, and stripe down the side of the legs. Pants secured with a white belt. Had old gold helmets with the white stripe also outlined in black. Seems like a black Pirate on the side. As I remember they wore them one more year. Problem was the old gold faded some after a bunch of washings and when replacements were bought the new ones stood out. The old gold was the unique factor. Most “gold” today is a yucky yellow. The Booster Club bought old gold sports coats with a black V on the pocket for away games and all players had a white dress shirt & black tie. Guys looked sharp.

Realistically this game is probably for the District Championship, or at least a part of it. Doubt anyone would have envisioned this game being that significant earlier in the season, myself included.

Yes and on a side note, Vidor wore the best looking football uniforms I’ve ever seen anywhere.

Vidor has one thing going for it, appears we’re the underdogs. Expect a big effort from the Pirates, and they’ll need every bit of it. Jasper is one common opponent. LCM wins 13-0 (1 TD scoop & go) and Vidor wins 8-7, so LCM gets a slight edge but not enough to say this is a lock. Also LCM has home field, so based on the bookies, that’s a 3 point edge there. Still, I think it’s going to be a nail biter, whoever wins. Hope LCM’s field is not in bad shape after the Jasper game. Neither team can afford injuries.

Except me, I’m always right (or left, I’m not sure). Btw, in District thread I picked LCM over Vidor, but that was after they lost to HH, which didn’t happen, so maybe I am more left than right. As you’ve posted before, these Pirates have moxie. Only thing missing seems to be a killer instinct. Example - had Splendora not scored it’s possible Vidor only scores 14 points. That’s why the PF & PA are so deceiving. I’m pretty sure they’ll be wanting to score plenty against LCM because LCM will be scoring plenty. Between the QB & RB LCM has a potent offense.

Plus they’re Pirates, so yes, we be bros. 😄😜😄

Full disclosure, if you told me Vidor was going to have 5 turnovers, I’d picked Splendora, so in that aspect, Vidor’s win was a surprise. WOS & OF, we’ll heck, they always win. 😄

Five turnovers tonight - 4 Fumbles & 1 Interception. We do that against any other team in the District and it’ll be UGLY.
