Good grief, that shoots down another theory of mine - that catching & getting over Covid would provide the best protection. This stuff has outsmarted me at every turn. Certainly doesn’t act like anything we’ve run into before (that I can think of). Then again, we don’t ordinarily run into man made diseases. One more theory I have, I expect this crud to be with us for many years. Hope I’m wrong on that one too.

Very good post and you make some good points. Particularly liked the part about ‘teams collapsing against equal opponents then dominate slightly lesser opponents’. Seen it many times. In recent years Vidor has been an anomaly in the sense they may collapse against an equal or slightly inferior opponent, then play like hades against someone who should donkey stomp them. Just two quick examples, in 2019 Vidor defeats Crosby. It made little sense. Crosby was 0-3 but Manvel only beat them 13 points, while Vidor was 1-1 having lost to Montgomery, who only won 2 games all year. Then in 2020 Vidor (2-3 in District) meets Lindale, who ended up in the SC game. Lindale beat them by only 16. A forty point blowout would’ve surprised no one. No accounting, for me, why this stuff happens.

And initially have a fair turnout for football, but it would drop off to 60% of participants now. And other activities would lose participants, but it’s what is happening now everywhere. Cest la vie.

All we need is another big school. To many of them now. To many kids don’t get to participate. Take Beaumont with WB & United. Maybe 100 to 120 kids on varsity? Two bands & cheerleading squads. Back in 1960 you had Bmt High, S. Park, French, Hebert & CP. Five varsity football teams. Five bands & cheerleading squads. Hundreds of more kids participating. Let WOS & LCM alone. Just my old, wore out, opinion.

I’ve read, but haven’t verified, that Blood type may be significant. I’m type 0 Neg as is my immediate family members. None of us have contracted the virus. Are you 0 Type? Just curious if they may explain why you’ve been unscathed even though in close contact.

I’d hoped that three vaccinations would pretty much make you immune, but the mutations of Covid are happening so fast, it’s quite possible that soon one will evolve that isn’t deterred by the vaccine at all. As my wife has been saying for a long time, I believe Covid will be with us from now on. My imagination can come up with some very scary scenarios. So if some of you are waiting for it to “go away” before returning to a normal routine, you might want to come up with a plan B. Jmo

I’ve yet to have a liberal tell me what’s going to happen to all the old batteries. Whatever plan they have won’t be good enough. The battery acid will end up in our ponds, lakes, rivers and eventually the groundwater. So while allegedly cleaning the air we’ll be polluting our drinking water. Great idea! And it takes @ 4 hours to put out an electric car on fire. Wonder if that smoke will pollute the air worse than an Escalade with a V8.

If I’m not mistaken, the idiots (and a handful of sane people) in Congress are not required to be vaccinated. And as we all know, they weren’t required to go on Obamacare. There should never be requirements for people that Congress is not also required to do. NEVER. As you can tell, I feel very strongly about this.

Btw, who do you like in the LCM/Jasper game? We agree LCM much improved, but I think the Jasper D will make the difference and Dawgs will win a close one.

I agree 110%. That mind set has been sorely missing in many past Pirate teams. Realistically, if they’re concentrating on this game like they should, Vidor should win by two TD’s minimum. Got my fingers crossed.

I found this particularly disturbing. Oklahoma teacher had two Pfizer shots then got the booster in August. Now he’s caught Covid. Before Vaxers start screaming, I’ve had my two Moderna shots. I just wonder if the shots help that much in prevention, although it does seem to help in severity. [Hidden Content]

Not at all. If you’ll remember they beat Vidor in Vidor last year, and only won one other District game, to LCM. This year we play in Splendora, and LCM much improved, ergo this might be their only chance for a win. In defense of the Pirates, they were running that “pistol”, which imo, negates the effectiveness of the Slot T. Vidor loses enough games without losing one they should win, and they should’ve won the Splendora game last year.

Great for the players, rough on the fans. Hope the Pirate Coaches spend it figuring out a way to beat Splendora. They are 3-1, but their last win was over the Spring School for Little People 53-36. Next week will be their only chance to win a District game. 😢

Anyone else think bye weeks are a bummer? LCM & Splendora are the only two District teams playing this week. The rest of us sit here twilling our thumbs, wishing Oct 1st would hurry up & get here. And if Splendora beats Vidor again I’ll, I’ll I’ll, we’ll durn, I’ll think of something bad…😂
