Amen. It’s quite possible Jasper could’ve won our District this year. As Carthage proved against Crosby, being in a lower classification doesn’t always mean you’re an easy win.

I’m concerned, bordering on worried. Not about Covid, but about the fact that so many stores and restaurants are out of things.. Even Walmart, which holds its suppliers to a high standard. Called one of my pizza places and ordered Buffalo Wings. Was told they wouldn’t have any for over a month. At a local restaurant and ordered fried ribs. Nope. Tried to buy Gatoraid at Walmart - out. The fact that so many places are out of so many things should concern us all. I’m 76 and have never seen this before. Currently it’s inconvenient, but if it continues, or heaven forbid gets worse, it could get out of hand. Never thought I’d see this in America. Just a heads up for you folks. What’ll it be like five years from now? IMO, this Socialist welfare system is at the root of the problem. Folks on welfare are making more than if they went to work. Can’t blame them. I hope, someday soon, enough voters will realize what’s going on and elect some politicians who’ll actually stop this insanity.

On the plus side, we haven’t ate any this year, LOL. And I won’t this game. I know this will be one of our toughest games until (if) we reach the playoffs. Obviously Jasper is heavily favored but maybe we get a break or two and beat them. Be a nice game to not have any turnovers.

I can buy most of your post but alleging that a Hebert title in 76 had something to do with West Brooks SC in 82 is a stretch. After watching Coach Durley’s South Park Team, where he was OC, I think he deserves a lot of the credit, along with the FP & Hebert players.

But they were allowed to display their talents in the NFL. At one time Beaumont was known for producing the most NFL players. I think there were 13 at the time from Beaumont.

Can you imagine the football team you could’ve gotten out of that bunch? And yes, I was counting the 50’s & forgot about FP.

This might be political but since it’s the Ramblings of an old man, probably better here. This post is about who should be voting. There are two things that I’ll use to preface - First, The Bible, 2 Thessalonians 3:10, essentially, “if a man does choose not to work, he shall not eat”. So if you don’t have skin in the game, you go hungry. Second, the (goofy) movie Starship Troopers, a futuristic tale of earth fighting arachnids in space, but the thing was, only veterans got to vote. Our brilliant Founding Fathers never anticipated folks living on welfare. Had they, I’m convinced they would’ve enacted rules for who can vote. Take a local school board election. People living on the dole turn out and vote, but they don’t pay school taxes. If you don’t pay school taxes, why should you have a hand In electing people who might want to raise taxes? If you don’t pay, you have no skin in the game. Same thing for National Elections. If you don’t pay income tax, you don’t vote. To me, that makes perfect sense. But realistically, it’ll never happen. Never accuse our current politicians of having much sense. In Congress we have 535 people. I doubt their collective “sense” would equal those of the 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence.

Bigger towns and cities have stopped building neighborhood schools. Beaumont use to have 5 public HS’s and now they’re down to two. Economically it makes sense but it causes havoc with equalizing alignment. I anticipate larger discrepancies in the lower (all?) Divisions.

Yep, I was wondering the same thing. Not only dropping population but UIL is moving numbers around. And I agree not now, maybe next 2023-24 realignment.

If all things were equal, Ltown wins this. Now it depends on how many starters are still out. Edge to Ltown anyway for home field.
