I’m not giving up on Silsbee yet. Last year they started off 2-3 and went 5 games deep in the playoffs. Yes, beat by good teams, but one of the wins was a 12 point victory over Ltown. Year before, same thing, 2-3, and 5 deep in the playoffs. Might be a little early to build their tombstone. Wouldn’t count out the Pirates yet either. For those that didn’t follow the game last night, the score is a little misleading. Vidor could have won the game, but Jasper was able to take advantage of Pirate mistakes. Just hope the Pirates execute better when they play Huffman, ot they’ll lose that one too. But that’s way down the road.

I too oppose bashing programs, Coaches, and especially individual kids. But here’s a little advice from an old timer. Don’t be to thin-skinned on this Forum, and until you’re more familiar with other posters, don’t be to quick to attack. It won’t take long to figure out who the hiney holes are, and who’s serious and who’s just yanking everyone’s chain. There’s no doubt in my mind OF will give a 110%, but sometimes, when playing teams like WOS or Silsbee, that’s just not enough. Good luck tonight, and welcome to the Forum.

The Vidor vs Jasper game has only been up a week and is 7 pages. Have the Titans & Indians signed a Peace Treaty? Has the Covid Virus attacked computers & phones? Good post. I must admit that Jasper posters, as a group, are some of the best. Not a lot of smack talk, just the facts. Game will be a great test for both teams. Exemplifies what HS Football is all about.

From what little I saw (Newton highlights) they looked great, but (there’s always a “But”) Newton’s defensive line looked awful small, so there were big holes for the RB, and the QB had all day to pass. I suspect it’ll be a little different Friday night. For instance, Bat City’s 3 previous games rushing/Average, then Vidor. Sweeny - 223 - 7.7 Edna - 324 - 9.3 Wharton - 218 - 6.1 Vidor - 107 - 3.7 Understand, I’m not saying Vidor will completely shutdown the Bulldogs rushing, with their backs, that’d be a tall order. It’s just not going to be as easy. As with most games, the guys up front will make ya or break ya.

Looks like the weather will be great Friday night. Will be a great venue for HS football.
