West Orange-Stark (38) @ Little Cypress-Mauriceville (32) FINAL
Hagar replied to WOSdrummer99's topic in High School Football
LCM, to go toe to toe with WOS says volumes. I was fairly sure WOS would continue down the path of success, but with Landry(?) graduating, I wasn’t sure LCM would show continued improvement. Evidently Peevey has found a replacement. Right now, it’s possible the rest of 10-4A-1 will be fighting for 2, 3 & 4 playoff spots. Still early. Tonight will be interesting. Goos luck to WOS & LCM going forward. -
Have no idea about the JV personnel but they’re winning. Quite possibly, if things don’t improve this Friday, we might see some of them moving up to Varsity. Unfortunately, sounds like 9th Grade won’t be much help. If you’ve watched them, you see any individuals (without mentioning names or positions) who might could help out?

Coach Peevey has a magic wand. He waves it, good things happen - if you’re a Bear fan. -

No, which makes as much sense as putting gravel in a bowl of Cheerios. -
Well done.

I’m getting my optimism back. The Pirates have to much talent to let that Silsbee game define their season. I think Santa Fe may get surprised. Vidor still may not win, but I expect to see a different team this Friday. Back to the old Pirate smash mouth football. As an old fan, I don’t live & die by wins & losses. I just want to see 100% effort & intensity. They do that, the wins will come.

To clarify, I watched Highlight Videos of the Crosby game on MaxPreps, not the whole game, and it’s not on there now although others are. Sorry for any confusion.

I can’t believe TexanLive is not broadcasting this one. Good grief, two ranked schools. One a perennial powerhouse. Good grief! This is ridiculous. Did I say, good grief? No? Well good grief then.

Holy Moly - rules are getting out of hand. Just about to the point to hang flags on everyone. 🤦😖🤦

Agree, and agree. It’s not the same Slot T we’ve been running. And like you, why have the kid passing rolling to the left is inexplicable. I watched the video of the 2019 game against Crosby were we passed more than I ever remember (about 260 yards). All were rolling to the right or drop back. And the kids blocking last year put defenders on the ground. Did the rules just change? And now our go to play is what was referred to as “student body left” (or right). And for heaven sakes, throw a pass on first down once in a while. And do we even have a screen pass in the playbook? Forgive this old man. He’s confused and frustrated.

Read were new head of CNN was moving them to the middle. My question, the middle of what? And the FBI now an armed branch of the Democratic Party, has dropped any pretense of being impartial. The next Republican President will have to clean house. Do as the Dems do - find any member of the FBI that voted Democrat and fire them. BAM, right out on their kister. Make it a Republican only organization. Absurd? Crazy? Absolutely, but it’s the way they play the game now. No more Mr Nice Guy.

I too thought the Senate was a lost cause, but as the guys in the infomercials say, but wait. The latest poll now shows Walker leading in Georgia. I have to hand it to the Dems, they’re trying to give it all up. I just hope enough Ga voters get informed on the issues. If so, Walker has a very good shot. You can lie and obfuscate many issues to confuse voters but a trip to the grocery store can’t be covered up. Inflation is devastating for most Americans, and the Dems/Biden own it. [Hidden Content]

Every now and then, a meme is so profound it must be shared. This is one of those. USING CNN NEWS TO SUPPORT YOUR POLITICAL ARGUMENTS IS LIKE SAYING YOU’RE A MARINE BIOLOGIST BECAUSE YOU WATCHED SPONGE BOB SQUAREPANTS.

If you watch film on the Vidor vs Silsbee game, you’ll either bust out laughing or crying depending on your emotions at the time. Vidor rarely has been a dominant team, but I haven’t seen them totally inept in a long time either, but Friday night, that describes them. I can’t imagine why. Very good last year. Several good starters returning. Undefeated JV. That (normally) adds up to a bright season/team, but they were anything but. That’s what has my head doing a 360. It’s analogous to someone making crawfish etouffee. They have fresh crawfish. All the proper ingredients. Everything is cooked to perfection. You sit down to eat and it taste like 💩. Why? What happened? I haven’t a clue.

A very good friend of mine who follows the Raiders was very impressed with HF. He wished the Raiders played with as much heart as HF had. They were outmanned, outgunned and to small and still gave the Raiders all they wanted. If that was a one-off EC probably wins. If that’s a permanent mindset, HF should take it, and they’ll have a good season. This game will tell us a lot.

And btw, probably because I’m an old foggie but when the Slot T is ran right, I like the offense. And IF you could ever get a QB who could run it right and was able to pass accurately, it would be virtually unstoppable. Unfortunately, finding a kid like that is almost impossible. Still, last year those kids made it work well. Hope it starts working again this Friday.

I get the impression that some think the spread is the answer to everything. Most teams run the spread and guess what? There’s still winners & losers. So last year Vidor & the Slot T won 8 games. Most, if not all 8 of those teams Vidor beat ran the spread. If you like the spread because you think it’s exciting, that’s one thing. If you think Vidor goes to the spread and voila, the Pirates are the equivalent of North Shore, that just isn’t the case. I too question the play calling, but last Friday here’s what I didn’t see - When the Pirates ran a play I rarely saw a Tiger on the ground. In years past, the blocking would have several defenders down virtually every play. I saw way to many missed tackles & broke tackles. Not so last year. In my humble opinion, it doesn’t matter if your running the Slot T, the Spread, the “I”, or the Wishbone, if you aren’t blocking and tackling you aren’t going to win football games. So here’s my humble opinion. What we saw last Friday had little to do with what type offense, and more to do with mental preparedness and execution. I certainly hope to see a whole new Pirate team this coming Friday. I think we have the talent, but somehow, someway, Coach Matthews has to instill the “want to” to win.

What’s sad is that you have to even bring some of these up. Some are so far out of bounds it’s ridiculous. And yes, I’ve seen them posted.

Well done fellow vet. Great post. How inexplicable is it that folks like her/him like to denigrate our country that gives so much, and now ask so little. No more draft - a big mistake imo. I’ll never, ever, understand them. They have to know there’s no better. How many you see leaving to live somewhere else? All they need to do is acknowledge the sacrifices made by so many for their freedom. How? How about simply standing for that little poem, out of respect? Folks gave their lives for that flag, and you want to whine about having to stand for a couple of minutes? Wow, how selfish can you get?

As a backer of this District, I hope the Falcons represents us well. I thought the District was going to be stout this year but Vidor was complete disaster, and Ltown, even though they won, did not do so convincingly. Maybe everyone will do better this week but Silsbee will be a tough test.

My daughter is an educator, and she would agree 100% with your assessment. Me, after serving in the Army I went to night school at Lamar and managed to get an AAS, so I’ve enough education to be dangerous, lol. Will admit I’ve no idea most of the time where commas go. My English Prof bragged on my writing but wondered why I could do the hard stuff but not the easy stuff - my papers came back bloody with RED marks. Then there’s to/too. I’ve got the “also” part, but other than that, I’m clueless. Math - I was one of the best until they added letters. Never had a use for Algebra since HS. Getting along in years so I’ll take those shortcomings to the grave. Appreciate that you like my ramblings. Figured I’d leave some tidbits behind for the young folks. And a few humorous occurrences in my life. I’ll try to keep them going until the end.

Their record last year was 5-5 so I’m not sure how significant that SC was. But with all the hoopla surrounding HC & new turf, there could be some distractions. And after what happened to Vidor, Crosby and Nederland, this may be the year of surprises.
-
Huffman managed a 1 point victory over a Legacy School for the physically impaired so if this is not an easy victory for the Tigers I’ll be surprised (again). Legacy was soundly defeated by Splendora last year and they were terrible. The score might be close to the Vidor debacle. Depending on when the Tiger Coaches call off the dogs, I’d think minimum 21 points, and maximum whatever Silsbee wants it to be. Year of the Tiger!

Our educational system is fouled up. We argue about CRT & Gender education in our schools. The Left defends it, but wait, what are we teaching our children? That 🐂💩 they’re teaching explains a lot. For instance, I recently heard that Wendy’s, losing sales to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder, came out with a 1/3 pounder. Sales were abysmal, so Wendy’s took a survey asking why. The most common response, folks wanted the 1/4 pounder because it had more meat. So not only do kids not know what gender they are, they also don’t know that 1/3 pound is more than 1/4 pound. Hate to bust the educators bubble, but those of us who graduated in the 60’s not only knew our gender, we knew a little about fractions. Today……….not so much.

Me too. It’s obvious something was missing. Total meltdown. No tackling. None of the blocking we’ve seen in the past. To sum it up, it’s hard for me to find a bright spot. Heads hanging in 2nd Qtr. Did I miss something? It’s like they were told prior to the game, y’all have no chance. If you saw anything promising, please share. To use a word I use often in the political thread, the Pirates performance was UNBELIEVABLE!
